Stories that sound absurd but it does happen. This is one of the main reasons why you have to remain low-key and keep your information private as much as possible. An unfortunate event but the miner is still lucky compared to other victims who were deleted because of their involvement in crypto.

It is until the miner in question freed, or gains his freedom from the kidnappers before we can truly consider him lucky, for there have been instances where the kidnapped or the victim still end up  being killed, even after he or the family members must have paid the ransom the kidnappers requested for, this have happened on several occasions here in my country..

So. For me, I think I can only consider the kidnapped victim to be lucky only when he manages to pay the ransom, and he is set free while alive and still healthy.

Over all, I agree with you though, keeping our private information private, most especially in the area finance is very important, there are alot of hardship in various places of the world today, many will do anything to make money, even if they have to kill or betray their brother or friend, they will do it with pleasures, this is why we much not completely trust people around us to let them in on all that we do for a living, or how much we earn, this is the same as selling oneself out.

I seem to have read about a similar incident of kidnapping for ransom, but the situation is different because what I read was that her grandmother herself was kidnapped and the ransom demanded was cryptocurrency.

If we look at it, it seems that the kidnappers are social in these times. They don't want to cash in their fiat right away, but they will actually go through cryptocurrency so that they don't get scammed right away. Maybe that's their reason. So it should be encouraged even more by those in power in the government.

Russia has been waging a war of aggression in Ukraine for the second year. They write about forty thousand demobilized former prisoners who served at the front for the agreed six months. They, as well as others who returned from the Ukrainian war, are carrying with them many different weapons. And not only them. A country in a state of undeclared war is quickly becoming saturated with weapons, so serious crimes involving weapons will increase. This is absolutely inevitable for Russia. The situation will worsen as the war continues and mobilization intensifies.
In this case, it is a little unclear why the attackers did not demand a ransom in cryptocurrency. They probably didn't know how to handle her.

Although such incidents are not seen very often, but sometimes such outrageous accidents are seen. In this case, the kidnappers target the world's biggest investors, entrepreneurs and cryptocurrency miners. Of course, in this case, your personal privacy documents must be carefully hidden from online so that kidnappers or criminals cannot tag them. However, demanding the kidnapper's ransom through Bitcoin is definitely a serious matter because in this case, no document of the kidnapper can be identified.

Last year there were multiple incidents like this that got kidnapped and demanded ransom. Those criminals are now targeting those people who own crypto and they aren't interested in people with cash. They upgraded their strategy. That is why you should always be cautious, and it is better if only you know that you own a crypto because we don't know they are just watching your moves and checking if you are worth abducting and getting ransom.

These criminals are fully aware that miners are earning a lot from their mining ventures so they include them in their target, the miner must have been a wealthy miner to become a victim, so many people become rich because of Cryptocurrency, I guess it's not only miners but investors and project development as well, CZ already reported that one of their client was kidnapped forcing the victim to drain his wallet.
So you must keep to yourself about your Crypto activities whether you're an investor, a miner, or a project developer, the risk is just too high now.

It reminded me of a story where a member of a person's family was kidnapped and they tortured his family in order to obtain wallet addresses. It seems that criminal gangs have become more sophisticated, however, as they demanded the ransom in dollars and not Monero, which indicates that there may be another reason and not related to cryptocurrencies.
