Is Karma Really Done to Increase Ranking?

Hi everyone, I have been on this forum for a long time, I have gone through various obstacles on this forum but I continue to continue to develop the forum so that it can grow faster.

It is definitely not needed for lower ranks, you can get some of lower ranks even with a negative balance of karma. You can see that the teleported get a legendary with 0 karma, so it is enough at least not to be in minus. As for ranks above the legendary no one, except admin, knows because all who got a rank above have some karma and others didn't meet other criteria, so it can be needed or not.

I used to be able to give karma to the SR member rank, and that was limited, the rest I forgot about this rule
I don't think there's a need to use karma as a rank increase, because in the beginning it was just to appreciate someone's likes and dislikes on someone's post.

That's a quite valuable answer and I'm very sure that it's for the good of the members who really don't care about ranking up but try their best to make valuable and useful posts.

I'm also sure that the ones who contribute good stuff on this forum will not face any rank freezes when they meet the activity requirement for the new ranks.

This Curiosity and Mystery is what makes Karma something valuable, all members must compete to get positive Karma and stay away from negative Karma.

Wow, this I would say is well thought out, a very good idea indeed, this will make users pay more attention and focus on being their real self, rather than trying so hard to become who they aren't.

The thing that surprised me was the time, which could be considered as login time. Let's say a person posted enough posts and he got some positive karma too. But, he didn't spend enough time on the forum reading and writing. They just came up post and out. In this case, the user's activity will get stuck and he won't be able to rank up. It's similar like BitcoinTalk activity and the merit system as well. Just a little different.

Yeah, it is likely the same as the merit system but the only difference between Karma and the merit system is that if someone sent you negative Karma your current karma is reduced by one I tested it just today but if you are the one who sent +karma and you suddenly decided to use -karma two karma will be reduced.

If someone does not have enough Karma for the next rank, their activity will freeze at some point and they have to earn karma to rank up. But the admin did not disclosed for which rank users need karma and how many karma you need to rank up. Also, forum members have to spend enough time on the forum to rank up to the next rank. The admin did not disclosed it because he do not want us to focus on our account ranking.
