here's the list of some terms, and abbreviations about crypto

Just incase you encountered some of these. hopefuly this thread will help

Some Glossary of Terms and Abbreviations

Altcoin – a cryptocurrency that acts as an alternative to Bitcoin.

Whale – people (or a group) that have enough capital – usually in the millions – to make huge orders that can manipulate the market to a degree.

Pump – when a person or group with lots of money buy a bunch of coins at market value, driving the price of the coins up.

Dump – when a person or group sell a bunch of coins at a market value, driving the price of the coins down.

Cryptocurrency – digital currencies that utilize encryption and cryptography to control the generation of new units of currency as well as secure and verify transactions of that currency.

Fiat Money – a currency established by government regulation.

Blockchain – the public, decentralized ledger in a cryptocurrency network that records all transactions of that cryptocurrency.

Breakout – when market price moves passed a predefined support or resistance level.

Bullish – characterized by rising market price.

Buy Wall – a huge buy order that prevents market price from going down until that entire buy order is complete.

Buying Pressure – occurs when the majority of traders are buying, indicating that the majority think the market price will increase.

Circulating Supply – the number of coins that are circulating in the market and available for spending or trading.

Commodity Money – a currency whose value comes from the commodity from which it is made.

Cryptography – the study and practice of secret communication.

Double-spending – the risk that digital currency can be spent twice (or more).

Hard Wallet – a physical offline storage device that stores cryptocurrencies.

Soft Wallet – software used to store cryptocurrencies either on PC, mobile devices, or online.

HODL – a meme that emerged from the Bitcoin Talk forum. It has permeated crypto terminology since. HODL is just a typo for “Hold”.

Initial Coin Offering – a crowdfunded release of a new cryptocurrency.

Market Capitalization – the total dollar market value of a coin’s circulating supply.

Mining – the process of verifying and adding transactions to the blockchain.

Peer-to-Peer Network – a network of computers that share files and resources.

Proof-of-work – a measure to prevent denial of service attacks and achieve distributed consensus on a cryptocurrency blockchain by requiring some type of work from a service requestor.

Proof-of-stake – a measure to prevent denial of service attacks and achieve distributed consensus on a cryptocurrency blockchain by requiring ownership of a certain amount of cryptocurrency.

Resistance Level – a price point in which upward price movement is resisted due to market conditions.

Satoshi/Sats (unit) – the smallest unit of Bitcoin recorded on the blockchain, named in honor of the creator of Bitcoin, Satoshi Nakamoto. (1 satoshi = 0.00000001 BTC)

Sell Wall – a huge sell order that prevents the market price from going up until that entire sell order is complete.

Selling Pressure – occurs when the majority of traders are selling, indicating that the majority think the market price will decrease.

Shill – someone who over hypes a cryptocurrency that is usually a scam.

Support Level – a price point in which downward price movement is resisted due to market conditions.

The Flippening – the moment that Ethereum surpasses Bitcoin in total market cap.

Trading Volume – the total amount of crypto that was traded during a certain period of time.

Bagholding – when you hold onto a cryptocurrency that continues to decrease in value until it becomes worthless.

Bearish – characterized by falling market price.

ICO – Initial Coin Offering

POW – Proof-Of-Work

POS – Proof-Of-Stake

DOS – Denial of Service

ATH – All Time High

FOMO – Fear Of Missing Out

FUD – Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt

UAHF - User Activated Hard Fork

UASF - User Activated Soft Fork

HYIP - High Yield Investment Program

NEWLY ADDED

DApps– Decentralized Applications. It's an application build on the blockchain.

DAO– Decentralized Autonomous Organization. It's an agency build on top of the blockchain that allows investors to vote on projects to allocate funds.

Fork – A permanent split from the original blockchain to make permanent alterations to the current blockchain.

ICO – Initial Coin Offering. A new way for developers to raise funds for their projects by creating and selling off tokens. These tokens can be exchanged the same ways as coins.

IAO - Initial Airdrop Offering

IEO - Initial Exchange Offering

IFO - Initial Fork Offering

IMO - Initial Miner Offering

STO - Security Token Offering

DeFi - Decentralized Finance.

Good list.. a few I'd add is margin trading, gwei, gas/gas limit, ponzi, DEX, token vs coin , day/position trader/scalper, moon, buy the dip, bot, shitcoin, fib, moving average

Much appreciated! I learned a lot. This thread is what new comers needs to be eligible to answers exactly if we encounter the word.
I also think that you should update this topic incase there will be new word  in crypto or words that are missing.  :)

This thread is very helpful for me. Because there are some terms in cryptoworld that is giving me curiosity and doubts because I dont know the exact abbreviation or meaning of it. So this thread helps me a lot and Im sure not just me but for a lot of people also.

Hype in crypto has the same meaning as in Dictionary - "promote or publicize (a project) intensively, often exaggerating its benefits."
Examples for Hypes :- TRX (Tron) and XVG (Verge)  ;) ;D

HYIP, on the other hand, is "High Yield Investment Program". Almost 99% of HYIPs are huge scams.

Thank you so much that you are providing this kind of informations for us. Although, some may hard to understand due of being a new member here, but I know that as time pass by and I will remain my being active here, I will be able to understand all of those terminologies.

I also encountered that Term, and I notice that its not included on the given abbreviation lists. Well, Thanks for the information.

2 factor authentication
Also known as 2FA, it is a method of confirming users’ identity in two ways, namely by submitting their username and password, as well as a one-time code, sent to their registered device.

51% attack
A situation wherein a group of miners controls more than 50% of a blockchain network’s computing power. This type of attack may result in attackers being able to prevent the approval of new transactions or reverse completed transactions so that they could reuse the money illegally.

head & shoulder - A chart pattern formation that has 3 peaks with the middle peak as the highest, forming the head, and the side peaks as shoulders. Normally indicating a market reversal.
trading bot - software programs that talk directly to exchanges and automatically place buy and sell orders based on your settings as a mean to gain profit.

Since the ICO is a thing of the past, it was replaced by new types of offerings, with new abbreviations (alphabetically):

IAO - Initial Airdrop Offering
IEO - Initial Exchange Offering
IFO - Initial Fork Offering
IMO - Initial Miner Offering
STO - Security Token Offering
