Bitcoin Forum / Re: Phoenix Wallet to be removed from US app stores
« on: April 27, 2024, 08:48:39 AM »
The U.S is one of, if not the biggest bitcoin market today. With the clampdown on mixers, miners, privacy channels and now anything that allows you stay under the grid without KYCing, it is now more important to take your privacy very serious.

Those in the U.S should consider if there is a legal channel to kickback against this policies and the entire bitcoin community needs to start getting more innovative in creating and also promoting softwares that are 100% decentralized and support privacy.

Bitcoin Forum / Re: BTC capitalization 1.29$ trillion

Anything can be, I won't argue in that regard. Who knows what will happen in half a year + what will be the news. Big players have absolutely no problem to raise the price to 80 thousand and above.
Bitcoin is not as easy to manipulate today as it was 10 years ago. Adoption is very high and holding is decentralized.

You run a huge risk if you are trying to manipulate the market by selling off your coins at a certain price to scare others to sell low and then buy back cheaper.

Interoperability
You have different blockchain networks which operate independently, like Bitcoin, Ethereum, Sol etc. They operate on entirely different systems, you cannot send funds from the bitcoin network to Ethereum, you cannot draw up smart contracts that can be accepted on the different networks, most wallets cannot even hold Bitcoin and ethereum at the same time, you need designated wallets for each.

Interoperability is the ability of a blockchain to  freely share information in a streamlined manner with other independent chains. You the user will not need to bounce back and forth to enjoy the benefits of the different networks. This is possible to an extent, but it cannot make it possible to send funds from one chain to another AFAIK.

Scalability
This is the ability of a network to cope with increasing users and demand while maintaining the level of service. If you have a restaurant that regularly cooks for 100 guests a night but then get a big break and boom, the guests starts going upwards, 250, 500, 1000+, their scalability will be their ability to cope with the increasing demand without a drop in quality of service.
In the blockchain it is normally used in relation to the ability of a network to cope with increasing transactions and get them confirmed in optimal time.

The blockchain space seems to be incorporating a lot of persons into it. Artists and creators are being given opportunities to earn.
The blockchain is a tool, artists can creatively use it to find solutions to problems and earn from that. It does not incorporate people in, you design and shape it to your taste. Some do it to good effect and some use it wrongly.

Special mention for this jerk:

https://mempool.space/tx/7923e59abd8f8ab40dcc7915ae864d8b7ad6776811ba4d478f42248a7827a7f3

Who has paid almost a whole bitcoin in fees to send 0.00020330 BTC.
That person was trying to get into the halving block 840000 - https://mempool.space/block/0000000000000000000320283a032748cef8227873ff4872689bf23f1cda83a5

It is expected to have some sentimental value so lots of people paid huge fees to get into that block, that also contributed to the current feerate everyone is experiencing.

Gambling discussion / Re: AFCON 2024 Discussion thread
« on: January 29, 2024, 02:34:58 PM »
This is going to be historic day for one of the teams Cape Verde or Mauritania as the winner is going to be in quarter finals of AFCON.
Winner of this match is going against one of the giants Morocco or South Africa in next stage, and they need a miracle to pass them.
Yesterday gave us surprises, let us see how today goes.
Cape Verde has been brilliant through out this tournament and would be looking to extend that into the knockout stages, Mauritania are playing with no pressure and teams can be dangerous when there is little expectation of them.

Senegal is no joke and they are in better form, but H2H matches of this two teams are usually tight.
I think that draw in regular time is possible or narrow win for Senegal.
A draw is not far fetched. Ivory Coast has disappointed their fans and now have a second shot to change the course of their tournament, I would not under estimate them.

Bitcoin Forum / Re: Bitcoin ETF ads on Google search engine
« on: January 28, 2024, 06:40:14 PM »
But Google search results are where scammers are many with fake ads, is this a step forward for scammers to begin using fake Google ETF ads to look firy who to scam?
Google filter for scams allows a lot of scam attempts to get through. This means you should always be cautious that what you are reading is a scam and scammers are always looking out for what next strategy to use, ETFs included.

Why this might be a bit different is that regular individuals do not need ETFs to get access to Bitcoin, and those institutions that need it do not rely on google ads.

The mystery of it is a good spin on it and quite a number of members will want to keep it that way. But it is good to have the option to view who gave you karma if you want to, promotes transparency and also shows the admin is working towards the comments made by the community.

Lots of upsets in yesterday's fixtures. Truly reflects the AFCON experience we have become used to from the previous tournaments. I definitely did not see Egypt literally scratching out a draw.

Would we have any upsets today? Maybe Cameroon?
