Title: Nano (XNO)
Post by: Lucius on March 01, 2024, 01:17:13 PM
I haven't heard anything about this coin for a long time, but I remember that it was very popular once upon a time. In the beginning, it was actually called RaiBlock (if I'm not mistaken) and the distribution was done through captcha solving, and at one point it even reached over $30 per coin.

Then some kind of hack happened and everything went downhill, and as I see now the coin sank (CMC 295 place) with a price of $1.45. What I know is that this coin had no transaction fees, and I used it several times, and I think I saved several hundred coins until today.

Do such projects stand a chance against the hundreds of new projects that appear every month?

I remember when people hype DAG (Directed Acyclic Graph) as alternative of blockchain in cryptocurrency space. Although I find NANO and similar coin doesn't have much chance when many altcoin or sidechain these days let you create TX with extremely low fees. And personally i question NANO's decentralization since AFAIK they still rely on validator.

@ABCbits, once upon a time that project seems quite interesting to me and it was quite popular on BTT because you could collect a lot of coins in a fairly easy way (by solving captcha), and there were members who bought the same coin directly, so you could earn something. I don't remember how much coins I sold back then, but I saved a few hundred in the hope that one day they would be worth a lot more than $30.

Unfortunately, NANO is just one more proof that very rare crypto projects manage to remain popular, because they are simply buried by thousands of new projects where people are just looking for an opportunity to make a quick profit.

I feel like I  have heard it but it's somewhat kind of weird to see the ticker XNO, it's not the same as what I thought. Isn't it like NANO? Which is more famous or I have just forgotten it.

It might not stand a chance between the different chains that are there like SOL or MATIC. IDK, it might not get some traction. We will never know unless it happens.

~snip~

It is possible that at some point they changed the ticker, because as I wrote, that coin had a rebranding in the past, so they are not unfamiliar with changes.

Unless they would do something that would attract a lot of attention, people will not invest in some old project where they cannot make money. Even everything you mentioned will probably not be in focus after a few years, because something new will appear, as is always the case.
