For me, it is important that thanks to smart contracts, DeFi projects provide an opportunity for participants in the cryptocurrency market to use services that were previously considered functions of banks, namely, obtaining loans, credits, depositing funds, and others. The uncollateralized loan model could help bring DeFi into the mainstream as it makes loans more flexible. In a conversation with Cointelegraph, Kulechov said that the initial purpose of the system is to “simplify the matching for Credit Delegators with borrowers that are both either institutions or businesses.” The limitation appears to be coming from OpenLaw, which is currently only usable by businesses.

He promised that if the idea were to be proven, it would be expanded to a larger audience. Aave would in this case become the “lending liquidity backbone for any finance to source liquidity.”

For me, DeFi has to fit into the mainstream of financial services.  That means it has to partner with traditional institutions, as Grayscale did with its Bitcoin stock: GBTC.  Before partnering with them, to achieve this, DeFi projects must build easy entry methods, including easier user interfaces, accessible services and products and stablecoins that make it easier for ordinary users to buy digital assets and participate in decentralized financial services.
