Self-moderated topics?

Are there any plans to add option for members to create self-moderated topics or something similar like we have in other forums?

Most of the time I would just create normal topics, but sometimes I expect to receive a lot of spam and low value posts, so I would like to keep certain topics clean.

I don't know if you noticed, but you can't even delete your post here. You can edit it, and remove the content, but you cannot completely remove it from the forum.
Once published, it stays forever. For the self-moderated function, you probably need admin privileges.

This function can be misused by trolls, so I don't think we need it on a regular base. It is okay when it is given to some respected users like campaign managers so they can better organize their work, but regular users can use a report button and if someone will overspam some topics, the violators will get penalties.

It's amazing how resourceful scammers are, it's a shame that they don't apply it to useful things.

For such cases, wasn't it possible to set that deleting a post will automatically delete a certain amount of forum points? This would perhaps encourage more attention to be paid to the quality of the posts because they don't want to lose points in case the moderator deletes his post as spam.

I didn't know about that, but that is weird decision to remove delete option from members.
That means that only moderators can delete posts.

I know that cheaters are always going to find holes to abuse any system, but to disable deletion for all members is not good solution.
You could disable it only for members caught cheating and for new members with low reputation.

I can survive without self-moderated topics but I need delete function for regular use.

I think it is not necessary, we love altcoinstalks without a deleted button.  I agree with admin

AltcoinsTalks has been established for almost 7 years and the members have no complaints about this. One thing we can also minimize for the cheater wants to remove the evidence because they deleted their posts

Yeps, I totally agree with you, these trolls are really annoying and in the last few years have even created very strange posts.
If there is a "Self Moderated" button or something like that, it is very dangerous, because it can be misused, for example:

-He created an account
-Create posts
-after many reviews and replies he deleted it
-Or messing up the thread

*In my opinion, this button is only given to those who have certain positions, such as President and Vice, Modz, Bounty Manager etc. Cmiiw

Is it possible to create a local rule, meaning that I write at the top of the topic the word local rule in addition to some rules such as not allowing replies of less than 100 words, or only pictures are allowed (Technical Analysis discussions),... etc, so that when I click “report to moderator” local rule is used as a reference?

I'm too against self moderated topics!

It works as a last resort option on BTT because the lax moderation there, basically as long as you post more than 5 words and it was a proper sentence in English by French standards nobody really cared about it anyhow and we had moderators going on months long holidays, if shitposts are deleted by mods and if this karma system has actually worked I really don't see the reasons for self-moderation. It will act like censorship when somebody doesn't want to hear what a specific user has to say, and although good in theory it failed in some instances miserably even there.

I can understand not willing to read somebody's reply but banning someone from expressing his view because you don't like it is a slippery slope!

As for the delete button, it would be nice if the option would be there for like 10 minutes (or other random interval) after the post. Probably too much work for it and if nobody requested it before then the only user case would be like this moron right here  who pressed quote instead of edit without realizing and double posted. Already reported it myself but it would have been nice not to bother the mods when it's a stupid mistake !

In the end, as far as I can see, with all the new members who have come to altcoinstalk from BTT we can make some suggestions for improvement, but we have to get used to the fact that this forum is different and that there will be things here that work differently than over there.

In my case, I don't care about self-moderated threads. I don't think I've ever used them there, but I would prefer it if there was an option to delete posts here, even temporarily as Stompix says, although I understand that because of the abuse problem mentioned it's not allowed.

You can make it such that people of certain rank and reputation can use the self moderation feature. A scammer or troll can buy it from the shop and abuse it.

I agree with you, but it seems that scam here is moderated by admin and they interfere in these topics, so if paid account features are being misused, report it to mods and they may delete the topic or lock it.
If Self-moderated topics are abused, as happened with BTT digital good section, then this feature should be strictly restricted, even for paid accounts.

Having a feature is good. Abusive people will try to abuse everything they have and to restrict them it does not make sense to remove or not introduce a useful feature.

Self moderated threads are useful in many ways. Once the community will become bigger, the number of trolls will grow too. Without a self moderated thread it's impossible to control the trolls if you want to focus in a discussion.
