Is Bitcoin a Digital Gold??
« on: October 19, 2018, 06:02:44 PM »
After reading a lot of posts made by people, I realized about 75% of them see Bitcoin as a digital Gold. For me, I don't think Bitcoin is a digital gold. Cryptocurrency or Bitcoin to be precise, was developed to be a safer option for transaction of goods and services and also the best mode of payment. Bitcoin was introduced to disable all the restrictions that banks and the financial system presented. A lot of people have lost huge sums of money because they saw bitcoin as a digital gold. I know others will argue that bitcoin has also made people rich but for me, I don't think it is advisable to consider Bitcoin as a digital gold. Bitcoin is a digital currency.

We can say that bitcoin is a digital gold the different between real gold and bitcoin is their value, bitcoin is continuous fluctuating because it was based on the demand and supply in the market but the real gold is continuous increasing its value and never fluctuates but both is good for long term investment.

Bitcoins can be considered as a digital gold, a "value hoarding", but Bitcoin really can't replace gold. Historically, gold has shown a negative correlation with equities - thought that when stocks fall, gold goes up, and vice versa. Conversely, Bitcoin isn't only more volatile than stocks and gold. but also at unpredictable prices.

Bitcoin can be a digital gold, could be an assets, a currency for direct spending and can be an investments for both short and long term. In general, it will depend upon the users on how they will see fit for them the use of Bitcoin in which these are the unique characteristics of Bitcoin that it can be flexible to use by anyone.

Bitcoin started to be considered or presumed digital gold merely because of two things, value and scarcity, just like gold.

Perhaps it was from this point of view that people started claiming that we have found a digital gold in this era. With bitcoin capped at 21 million using a mining technique to unearth it, people started thinking how similar it was with gold. And that concept was even pushed further more as the price of bitcoin surpassed any economical expectation and made it so valuable. It was nearly the same experience when people learned that gold was deemed valuable. Those who hold pieces of gold became rich instantly.

You are right that bitcoin is meant to be a piece of tech for payments, but should it prove to be a store of value then perhaps our era did stumble upon a digital gold.

Over the centuries, gold has been considered as an object of value by many different groups of people all over the world. It’s important to note that gold in itself has no value - it’s just a piece of shiny metal. Its value comes from the (somewhat perplexing) fact that everyone just agreed that it has value, and therefore it becomes valuable. The reason they chose gold versus other objects is important - gold has certain characteristics that make it a better ‘store of value’ (as it is commonly known) than other objects

I don't know if bitcoin is a digital gold or not since no research that concludes bitcoin as a digital gold. But If people claim bitcoin as a digital gold, I think it is normal. Bitcoin has high price and become the king coin in cryptocurrency. In this case, I appreciate people saying bitcoin as a digital gold.

I believe that bitcoin is considerable as a digital gold because of its amazing value. Many people wanted to have it because it can really change our life. If we speak about value or maybe prices I think there is a great reason that we can call it as digital gold becaue wit has an amazing value.

As it turns out, Bitcoin has all of these same characteristics, and more. It has limited supply (only a specific amount of Bitcoin exists and will ever be produced). It can be made into smaller units without losing unit value (1 Bitcoin = 100,000,000 Satoshis - the smallest unit into which a Bitcoin can be broken down to, similar to the cents in a Dollar or pennies in a pound; this is also why one can buy less than one Bitcoin at a time). Its technology makes it very stable, it won’t degrade, and it’s impossible to counterfeit. On top of this, and unlike gold, you can move Bitcoin to any place on earth within minutes, no matter how big or small the amount. That’s why many people say that Bitcoin is not just digital gold, but a better version of gold.

bitcoin is only considered as digital gold instead of gold as the original, this is just a mention.
even if bitcoin is referred to as digital gold I agree with the mention of it because the solution that bitcoin provides has a positive impact on everyone.

Bitcoin is practically digital gold, some say bitcoin is digital money. But what makes more sense is that Bitcoin is digital money. Because I never knew that there was digital gold, if there was digital gold maybe gold mines around the world would close and move to the digital world. what is actually called is that Bitcoin is a digital currency that we can use for transactions, that's the name of a currency in the form of digital money like Bitcoin.
