Title: Remove post?
Post by: dkbit98 on April 08, 2024, 04:32:12 PM
After writing one of my posts today in topic started by another member, I noticed that I have the option to REMOVE my post?
In different topics/boards I don't have option to remove my post, only Quote and Modify are available.

Does Remove button actually means to Delete a post?
And what boards have this option?

Here is the screenshot and the link to my post written in News related to Crypto board:

If you remove a post, will the replies of other users be deleted as well.?

This is not good imo... people can delete information they don't like  . Good for scammers and abusers.

I don't think the option exist when a reply has already been made, if it does that would be too much power in the hands of thread creators.

I even have the option to modify/delete the second post in one of my threads. (advertising post created by a forum bot - Altcoins Talks - Cryptocurrency Forum)
Although these options exist, they are not functional (I tried  ;D )

I am trying to understand the kind of information the scammer or abuser will remove. If they remove an information earlier posted by them, I don't think this will be a problem. It will only be a problem if they are able to remove other people's posts just like self moderation. I don't think that's obtainable here.

Someone posts a service he owns.
Then someone else comes and post that he was scammed by that service. Now, the scammer can delete both posts, as he can delete the whole topic.

Edit: I misunderstood the initial topic. I thought the user could delete the whole topic he started. But that is not the case

I noticed it in the news section, it's pretty good and I hope it will be implemented in some boards like

https://www.altcoinstalks.com/index.php?board=494.0 (Signatures section, as most of the responses there are not useful after the campaign is full)
Further Discussions (The discussions here are general and may not be very helpful)

some boards have specific permissions
Yeah, I figured out that part by myself, but I wanted a little more explanation and maybe list of boards with those permissions.

If you remove a post, will the replies of other users be deleted as well.?
I don't know because I didn't tried it, but we have delete option in other forums and I am not worried about removing/deleting my own posts.

I noticed it in the news section, it's pretty good and I hope it will be implemented in some boards like
Agreed.
I think this should be enabled in more boards.
