Title: How to upload image & resize Image
Post by: Thyplaymaker on April 07, 2024, 05:29:03 PM
This guide is all about uploading images using image hosting sites, and we are going to be making use of  imgBB.com (https://ImgBB.com) , though there are others (image hosting sites), but we are focusing on this first and beside they all have related processes and am going to drop some other related image hosting sites here ( and how you can resize their images) . So let's get started
                                                              (https://i.ibb.co/Hgs6W0V/20240408-141721.jpg) (https://imgbb.com/)

This is the first process, all you just have to do it to click start uploading and you will be directed to a page where you will have to select the image you want to upload From your device. Once you have done with the selecting part just click UPLOAD

                                                              (https://i.ibb.co/C8vBQqR/20240409-012819.jpg) (https://imgbb.com/)
This will appear after you have click the upload icon , so now all you have to do is to click that VIEWER LINK the blue arrow is pointing. After clicking it something Is going to pop-up with some options all you have to do is to select BBCode full linked .

                                                                 (https://i.ibb.co/GRBZB7t/20240409-012423.jpg) (https://imgbb.com/)

So after selecting BBCodefull all you have to do is to select the link (URL)  the blue arrow is pointing and apply it to your post and you're done. ;)

                                                                        HOW TO RESIZE IMAGES

I'm going to explain and arrange it base on different related image hosting site, that can be use to upload images

1) talkimg.com (https://www.talkimg.com/)  : so may be those that teleported from bitcointalk and don't know how to resize Image you can learn from this, and I believe a time will come when other forums would be able to use it. I will code it below :

Code: [Select]
[IMG width= 450 alt=IMG] your link [/IMG]
2) ImgBB.com (https://ImgBB.com) :
           (https://i.ibb.co/s1MBnfn/20240409-020558.jpg) (https://imgbb.com/). (https://i.ibb.co/NTxSGJz/20240409-020301.jpg) (https://imgbb.com/)
Just follow the blue arrow .

3) tinypic.host (https://tinypic.host/login) :

(https://i.ibb.co/3mCnxy3/20240409-073529.jpg) (https://imgbb.com/)  (https://i.ibb.co/VBRXqxv/20240409-073722.jpg) (https://imgbb.com/)
All you have to do is to tap that part of the screen the blue arrow is pointing, after that the page in image 2 will appear, then you can choose any size you want .

4) postimages.org (https://postimages.org/) :

(https://i.ibb.co/JrB4z5Y/20240409-074701.jpg) (https://imgbb.com/)
Postimages.org image resize is very obvious, as you access the site this would be the first page you are going to see, which is in the image above .

Note: in uploading all their process ( the image hosting sites)  are almost the same , so if you understand or get the uploading part of imgbb.com the others won't be any issue to use because all their process are almost the same

That's it , please if you notice any errors please bring it to my notice , and for those expecially newbies that have any questions to ask please do so.  I hope this will be helpful to those whom it may concern. ;)

Main question is, have you asked joker_josue if he agreed to allow using his image storage service for any other web site except bitcointalk.org?

The first screen you share says clearly that the talkimg service is for using for bitcointalk.org only and joker_josue, as far as I remember, said that he doesn't have enough resources to make an open service and will ban pictures uploaded not for bitcointalk.org. So if there's no permission from his side, I'd not use his service not to find my images deleted. ???

ohhh I didn't see that coming I've been using it, to be honest I didn't ask for any permission. So do you have any suggestions? Or I think I should make some adjustments

I think you should ask him for a permission. If he will give it, then okay, and I think many will use it (maybe joker_josue will even decide to teleport here as well). If not, we can still use talkimg for BTT. :)

I think you can easily add other image-hosting websites to this thread to make it more valuable. Most of the time you're doing the same steps anyway, uploading images, copy-pasting the image link, and putting it inside the BBCode. What makes some image hosting websites better is that they don't limit who can see their links or use privacy-intrusive methods to display the images. CMIIW.

Basically, adding websites similar to Talkimg is a good choice if you want to maintain this thread for the long-term.

that's actually a nice... Idea you got there, I think I will apply them at the end of the post like in a form of links , just as you Said they all have almost same way if working. Well the reason I didn't took noticed of that is because am not familiar with the others I actually focus more In using talkimg. Once again thanks for the suggestion it was really helpful alot.

Do images uploaded to TalkImg only work in the forum?
Generally speaking, yes. The server is configured, so that the images can only be used in the forum. Despite this configuration not being 100% effective in all scenarios, this is the project's objective: it will only work in the forum. But, if there is a lot of support in the community to open up the use of the images to other places, I can review this situation in the future.

@jokers went to do some research about the notice you bought up , and look at what I found. I think for now talkimg is base on bitcointalk alone so I will have to make some I just with my post may be I wil have to use another image hosting site and drop some good related site just as @joniboini surggested .thanks I should get to work

Yes what you said is correct. Even me too have been using it here since we don't have another person image Hosting website that good like talkImg.com. since when imgur disappointed everyone in bitcointalk in 2022 . And sorry to ask you, you know any other image Hosting website that we can use here?  If the joker_josue storage is not big enough to accommodate more forum then definitely he delete some images from other forums users. Therefore we have to look for alternative way from now. Therefore if you know any let us know.

Doing my research actually find some good image hosting site and am going to drop them yet soon . But anyone can also bring some good suggestions, to help Me improve it more better so that it can be more helpful for those newbies that going to register in this forum in the nearest future.

HOW TO ADJUST IMAGE SIZE

//://
Code: [Select]
[img width =450 height = 400 alt=IMG]your image URL [/img]

//://

You don’t need to include height when adjusting the size of your image, all you need is “width” and the height with be automatically adjusted.

For example here’s the first image you used in your tutorial.

By adjusting just the width, you get the original orientation of the image and from the result I got, I guess this image was taken as a screenshot in a mobile phone.

But anyone can also bring some good suggestions, to help Me improve it more better so that it can be more helpful for those newbies that going to register in this forum in the nearest future.

How about using this one? https://imgbb.com/

I would have recommended Imgur but after btt incident(blocked all images in Bitcointalk) I don’t have that much confidence in them again, if they are going to repeat the same thing here or not. But Imgbb is a pretty nice alternative tho.

I just hosted this there.

Usually I use just some random one. All those I used years ago disappeared already so I don't consider them as long living. So no really important images are stored just there. And if to place some image, I just use google to find any actual image hosting. The topic starter already made a number of popular image hostings, why not one of them?

Great! +

Let's wait for his answer. If he will agree, then it will be a good service for using on a crypto forum, because it is designed specially for that. If not, there are many less special services...

I just visited that thread to see the response of joker_josue , and I'm happy to share that he has no issues in allowing images on this forum as long as they don't violate the rules. I believe that's a very generous response by him. I'm quoting his post below:

Quote

joker_josue

Thank you for bringing the matter to attention. Interestingly, or not, I also received a PM asking if they could use it on another forum (without specifying the forum).

In reality, it doesn't bother me that it is used in other forums, as long as they accept the rules that are imposed, based on Bitcointalk. It is true that the server is currently configured to be able to reject hotlinks from sites other than Bitcointalk. But, this never guarantees that it works 100%. It may work today and not tomorrow. But, according to the experience of several users, it has been used without problems in other places other than here on the forum.

If the Bitcointalk community doesn't oppose the idea, I won't oppose it either. And I will be able to reconfigure the server, to give greater freedom and guarantees in operating in other locations. What is your opinion?

You just have to keep in mind that regular backups are made, and there are users who make a copy of all images. The rules are those in this topic. And support will always be provided only here, and with priority for Bitcointalk. Furthermore, if you want to use it, donations are welcome to support the project so that it can continue.

One thing you can rest assured, I will not delete images that do not violate the rules, no matter where they are displayed.

@bitmover I have an account there, but for now I prefer not to go there and talk about the topic. You can share this post, as the subject will be discussed. ;)

+1 for Bitmover for asking him about the use of his service on this forum.

From what I just read in the BTT link that @bitmover shared, it seems that the owner is not opposed to the use of the storage service as long as the rules are followed, which is logical.

Thanks for the idea and initiative @bitmover.

lol all the others are still useful though, but honestly speaking I still prefer using talkimg because of it's simplicity also . But I still hope that this thread would be helpful to those that are going to migrate in this forum in the nearest future, with the sole aim of learning more about cryptocurrencies and how it works. But still thanks to you all because , you guys contribution actually made this thread to seems More helpful to those whom it may concern.

You're not alone on that. I have also been using talkimg ever since I started to join this forum. I have shared a few images using his great work without knowing that I might violate any rules (my bad on that move), luckily, he is not against using it here. For now, let's follow the rules and try not to violate anything to avoid the images being removed. 🐱‍👤🐱‍👤

So if something will happen, it can be so that images from TalkImg.com can have problems with displaying here. Just to keep in mind. ???

Yeah, just like other services. I don't see any advantage in using imgur or imgdb over talkimg, and vice versa.

For years I used imgur, and one day all images broken in btt because they added new tracking stuff.

Imgdb or imgur may shutdown anytime too... third party services are never 100% reliable

Seems Imgdb or imgur blocked permanently with btt forum but I don't try its worth or not when using both website uploading image in altcoinstalk forum. Actually between Imgdb or imgur have broken all image uploaded in bitcointalk forum and some user get difficult how to recovery back their image if not save it and reuploading using other website.

Right now, I use with this website talkimg for uploading image in bitcointalk or altcoin, wish this site allow permanently and not broken with our image uploading last time ago keep existing forever.

Each user can use the storage service they prefer, they are all very similar to each other. I believe that this "movement" is rather an act of "brotherhood" or closeness between both forums that tries in some way to bring both parties closer, even if discreetly, or at least that's the feeling I have although I could be wrong. Be that as it may, we already have a more “specialized” site to store images that are related to cryptocurrencies, and that is always a positive thing for users, regardless of the forum.

Its very important that we pay attention more on what other members have already suggested concerning uploading an image and i will like the newbies to pay attention mostly on the aspect that talks about how they can resize the image after which they have converted such to bbcode, some image may be appearing disheartening with the way of how big they are with the OP understanding on how they could manage to resize such appropriately.

Yeah, it is quite common for third-party services to block some websites if they cache or access their resource regularly. I used to upload my images to multiple websites, the files are still there but they get blocked whenever I post them on a forum. I still believe it is risky to assume that talkimg service will last forever though, considering it is a community project. Having backups or alternatives to upload images would be better in my opinion.

How to upload image in forum Those who already know about this topic may not know anything new but there are many members in forum who till now don't know how to upload image in this forum. I think this post is very important especially for the new members as this post is detailing how a member can add images to this forum from start to finish following specific topics. Adding images to forums is somewhat easy but not everyone knows where and what size images to use. I think those who are interested in uploading images should also learn how to resize images. Knowing this, he can later upload any image he wants.

I just visited that thread to see the response of joker_josue , and I'm happy to share that he has no issues in allowing images on this forum as long as they don't violate the rules. I believe that's a very generous response by him. I'm quoting his post below:
Thanks for bringing this reply in front of our eyes. I was only reading the OP post, then one by one I made it here in the essence to know that either we are allowed to host our images on TalkIMG or not, although I was not using it on this forum because I find BBimage more useful attracted, but now after this, I will definitely prefer to use talk image.

Because its dedicated to forum use and we can use it without any fear as bb image can also ban the hosting of images for forums like BTT and ALTT. Who knows, but for TalkIMG we should not have a problem as its dedicated for the forum use. I hope enough funds would be raised for the TalkIMG platform as well from this forum. I might provide some ALTT tokens even $1 would be enough I guess.

You're right aslong we where given the permission to use it here thanks to those users that asked for the permission in our behalf. And big thanks to joker_josue for given us the permission to use one of his great work here in this forum . Thanks to you as well because if it would not be you then I don't think anyone would ask this question to the joker_josue as the mod joker I think brought this fact in front of us that TalkIMG is only dedicated to BTT, although I have used TalkIMG only for BTT yet but never thought its dedicated, so thanks to Jokers as well because both of you, the issue came into our eyes and a member asked Joker_Josue.

So you deserves a +1 for creating this topic and I just realized my mistake from this post (https://www.altcoinstalks.com/index.php?topic=320794.msg1547542#msg1547542) that we should give karma to those who have contributed to this forum. And your post is one of them keep it up dear.

HOW TO ADJUST IMAGE SIZE

//://
Code: [Select]
[img width =450 height = 400 alt=IMG]your image URL [/img]

//://

Maybe this is one of the best methods, the easiest method that all users can use it. Using Talking Image is the easiest and fastest way to do this, even with images weighing up to 200kB. So you can choose it as the most interesting and best apps by comparing it all.

Well that's true , takimg is one of the best image hosting sites. But any one can actually use any of the other image hosting sites that seems convenience for them

However, you have to comply with the rules (which may not be emphasized enough) on the Talkimg home page... there is an article that Talkimg is dedicated to the Bitcointalk forum, and it's a shame that our forum is not mentioned there... so maybe to respect the image hosting creator, We can use other free image hosting services such as imgbb which can also store fullsize images just by registering with a free account.

Speaking of uploading images for the purpose of adding them to a forum post, is there any ready-made script for such a thing?

I have some domains under my control, I also regularly pay for hosting, so I would like to have my own service and I would not worry if one of the services will stop links like the forum, or maybe Joker_Josue will stop providing support for altcoinstalks.

I would not go into the development of the platform since it would only be for personal use, ideally, there would be a script with the interface that would generate the link immediately. Manually is quite tiring.
