Title: Will crypto ever be a real currency?
Post by: Ferandil on March 20, 2019, 01:09:40 PM
Crisis in Venezuela makes me think about the main idea of cryptocurrency (especially this article on spam blocked b (https://www.spam blocked b/venezuelas-lack-of-light-and-cryptos-lack-of-fright/)). We all know how big failure Petro was, but in its very basic idea it wasn't so different from any other crypto. But the time when it was implemented was bad - people in Venezuela don't want another insecure experiment.
But what about the rest of the world? Is it good time for the implementation of crypto? Is it ever be?

I hope so. It all depend on us. Venezuela is a good case study for whole crypto world - the most important thing in implementation of crypto is to make people trust in it, especially those one who didn't hear about cryptocurrencies before. It's already happening, but this is a slow process. Some coins become partners of big companies or other organizations (like in case of futurocoin, and their partnership with RedBull team in Formule One racing: https://newsroom.futurocoin.com/lets-start-the-season/ ). If more people see that crypto are normal (and common) then they will start to consider this a something interesting for them.

There is no such thing as "Real Currency". What you call "Real Currency", is a currency, backed by the government.  Generally, currencies, are tools of transaction settlement. If two persons, decide to use stones, to settle transactions, stones are "Real Currency", for them. I'm in crypto, since it's first years (2012). I have more trust in Bitcoin, compared to some "Real Currencies", existing.

It can be a realy digital currency but if you're talking about making it some like normal currency I don't think so because for me crypto aiming to become the first real digital money. But there's really nothing impossible in this world and maybe someone will going to make it true.

Petro was never a real Cryptocurrency not every currency built on Blockchain or digital is a Cryptocurrency, to answer your question in a simple way I have to say that Crypto is already a real currency, Bitcoin is a real currency and I know it is treated by some as an asset but in reality and in its core base it is a real currency.

... people in Venezuela don't want another insecure experiment.

Uhhh no. Bitcoin, Litecoin, Dash and other cryptos seems to be doing well. According to this article (https://www.bbc.com/news/business-47553048), people in Venezuela prefer cryptocurrencies.

Will crypto ever be a real currency?
Of all times to ask this, why now when people all over the world (even on countries that bans crypto) are already using it as a means of exchange?

At first, governments need to start regulating cryptocurrency, it will soon begin, or this year, or in 2020, and then after that, different cryptocurrency can become the official currency gradually in all countries.

Crypto is a currency that was use by many people now around the globe. Some may not have a real transaction outside exchange because it's transaction is only for investment. I think, as time passes the whole crypto currency will be accepted to the world.

I think it's impossible if cryptocurrency will be a real currency in the real world. Because the currency is still a legitimate payment instrument used in a country. And cryptocurrency is only an alternative means of payment used for online transactions.

As far as i know crypto-currency was not consider as real currency but only a "digital asset class" Petro is failure due to the political turmoil of the country which it was originated if Venezuela was  stable in the time of implementation of Petro  I think it was not a bad situation like it  was today. since it was back by Venezuelan oil produce.

in my own opinion  crypto never be a real currency because a currency  should be accepted  and having acknowledge  that's actually exist,   despite crypto iis popular  but as of now only several countries  acknowledge the crypto currency and not all government support this kind of  currency  some countries totally ban crypto they  think  threatening to there economy.yes crypto is only  digital currency but may be as times passes globally acknowledge it  and it's becom real currency.

Absolutely not. It's something different, it can be used as a mean of payment, but i can't see a printed sign of bitcoin on a bank note to be honest. Bitcoin is right now treated almost as normal mean of payment. There are plenty of altcoins that are trying to get closer to it's users, like Ethereum for example which is going to be even greater cryptocurrency i think. Constantly future-minded, people whose minds are full of new ideas are the ones who stand behind the revolutions in. Even right now we've got many, many platforms like those with video poker games (https://www.cryptogamble.com/casino?category=Video_Poker) or smart contracts.

Who knows about it, I think we cannot say it never be. Everything is possible as long as there is a chance, even the chance is only 1%. Crypto still has a chance to be accepted as a global digital currency. You must know that Bitcoin has a chance for world digital currency in the future.

I really can't see it coming. I think that the idea of bitcoin was "not become the world digital currency". I think bitcoin can be used as a global currency - for example BTC has got it's own ATMs and many people are accepting bitcoin as a mean of payment but it is happening to altcoins too, like for example FTO got it's own ATMs in their restaurants in Europe (info taken from here (https://newsroom.futurocoin.com/next-futurenet-restaurant-is-already-open/)). But there is more potential in that technology, let the bounds of blockchain be established in the future, not now.

Implementing crypto might be a good idea to improve the state of the country's economy. But what if people don't understand using technology? Or there is no preparation in his country. That certainly takes a long time. And certainly, need a lot of money to make it.

from my understanding, fiat currency has been under control by governments, big institutions and financial companies. we all understand that once you are not part of the big circle, you either work hard to survive or you struggle to live. Crypto has been a life line between the rich and the poor. the only problem facing the cryptocurrency is adoption.

In my opinion this is a matter of time. But I am very pessimistic when that happens. As a decentralized currency I find it difficult to make it happen. The most important thing is that crypto can be accepted by the community legally.

yes of course crypto can be real currency, but as a digital currency not become fiat because the government will not agree.

Now is the digital era. Cryptocurrency is growing rapidly every day, but its development is not accompanied by technological readiness, legal status, and counseling from several governments. To ensure and make crypto accepted by the public and the government is not an easy matter, it needs hard work and positive news. It takes a long time, but I believe that along with the development of a better digital currency, it will be more widely known and acceptable to the world community.

I don't know about it can be real money or not in the future. But if we look at the background of how Bitcoin can be created, it is aimed to be an alternative currency in the future. It makes a solution for the strict way and the difficulties on conventional banks.

The truth is, the government and crypto don't go together.
Cryptocurrency is supposed to be decentralized, fast, secure, some are even highly anonymous.
How do you expect the government to build something like that?
They always want to control people that is there problem and people want their freedom.

Crypto is actually designed to be a digital currency, meant for the internet. It was not made to be used in the real world. There are some factors to also look at before think on bringing it forward to the real world. For me, it best fit the internet.

Yes I hope cryptocurrency will one day be considered the real currency.  Because of the coronavirus that is spreading all over the world now, people will not use money hand in hand.  They all think through this cryptocurrency that cryptocurrency will very soon be considered the real currency in the world.

I agree with your opinion. Crypto remains a digital currency that can be used by everyone in the world and is the best investment choice

Cryptocurrency is considered the real currency in many countries.  Maybe in our country this cryptocurrency is not considered as real currency.  But we can convert cryptocurrency into real currency through various processes.  Someday I think this cryptocurrency will be considered the real currency.

People now a adays is not ignorant anymore to technology. There are countries who belong to the third world. But it doesn't mean they don't have knowledge about technology. Well infact even the third countries is improving because of it, it is a process of change for some countries.

It is already, a real currency. Fiat currency, is printed at banks, and governments wish. That's why prices of goods, are going up. It is because, the value of the currency gets lower, day by day.

We can convert from cryptocurrency currency to real currency.  For example, by selling dollars we turn them into money.  Then by selling dollars directly we can exchange through money.  Then we can consider it as the real currency.

There are many places, where you can pay with crypto, for over the counter transactions. For those places, crypto, is a real currency.
