Imagining an ecosystem of Facebook, Messenger, Whatsapp and Instagram using FB coin and its internal payment system. Streamers can get instant donation from their audiences by FB coin, people use FB coin to buy extra features on Facebook Dating... It's a lucrative prospect for FB. Follow FB, other tech giants issue their own coins as well. Crypto market will be booming then.

I have long heard that Facebook will use blockchain technology and want to make new coins for its users, if I see other information, Facebook will create a storage account from Fiat to crypto, so it can be easily exchanged for stable coins.

Isn't the title quite misleading?

Facebook does not seek for coin to invest into, it's looking for investors to help them with their plan to create their own stable coin. I'm not sure why they needed to raise such huge funds but if they were able to do so, it could be the end of other stable coins and even xrp.

I wouldn't be so sure of that. Remember Telegram's ICO for $1.7 billion over a year ago? What ever happened to TON anyway? That never became a Top 10 coin, despite all the hype. F**k knows what goes on with that project. Just because these powerful social media companies from the tech space are able to raise billions of dollars by clicking their fingers, I don't believe they actually know what they are building, how the crypto space functions, or what crypto users want. This could just be another failed ICO money grab, but more of a mainstream one (like Telegram). FB isn't as popular as it used to be either... I'm obviously very skeptical of this.

I share your scepticism. Facebook does not want to come up with something new. The company just wants to make more money.

Facebook is planning to release a new coin, which may be facecoin or something similar, used to participate in community mobilization. I don't think they will actively invest in another crypto project.

I think that which ever ways Facebook want to be involved in crypto, it will be a welcome development to the entire crypto ecosystem. This is a social media platform that once kicked against crypto especially ICO advertising, now want to lunch her own coin or partner with other companies for a crypto project; this will  further ehence crypto development and awareness plus adoptions. Good luck to Facebook.

I wasn't sure either, I was speculating. I wouldn't compare telegram with facebook team though, for some reason something tells me that Mark Z is taking all the necessary steps so he would not f*ck up the launch facebook coin. It may not be as popular as before but it has a very wide network that it can tap when needed.

Facecoin would be a hilarious name! I love it  :D

Fair enough, I guess raising money for a coin in 2019 is a lot smarter than in February 2018 like Telegram did. Creating a stablecoin is considerably less risk than a new ICO project, so it's fair to say they probably won't f*ck it up. I'm still skeptical about the utility given FB seems like a dying breed of social media, unlike Telegram for example.

I don't think it's a good idea if Facebook doesn't bring breakthrough technology to the blockchain. They can fully leverage existing blockchain platforms and release tokens, instead of building a new one.

I have no problem with Facebook seeking investments worth 1 billion USD. I only wonder how they could do that? Now that Mark Zuckerberg's reputation was tarnished by Analytica data scandal, who's gonna willing to give his money to a China's ass-kisser with betrayal instinct?

I wouldn't be so sure of that. Remember Telegram's ICO for $1.7 billion over a year ago? What ever happened to TON anyway? That never became a Top 10 coin, despite all the hype. I also heard about that Telegram's 1-billion USD fundraising. All of that information was stuffed on the Internet by the way. But, have you ever doubted that? A billion USD project without any shit after 1 year and is neither marked as scam nor updated with any news?

It's really something interesting. Facebook is often reported to be related to the world of cryptocurrency. Previously, Facebook reportedly banned the promotion of ICO and Facebook wanted to create their own coins. And now the latest news is that Facebook is looking for potential and good coins. This certainly will be very influential for the coins and certain ICO or IEO. Because Facebook is one of the media that greatly influences the development of crypto.

1 billion USD to create a stable coin? OMG?
Very big value is needed from investors but I am sure there will be a lot of investors if they work with Facebook because Facebook itself is a social media giant in this world.

I hope FACEBOOK will reward all the likes, comments and shares made to its members (including me). LoL But for sure that is not going to happen. Anyway, it's a big question mark where they're going to put that $1 billion of funds to back their upcoming stable coin. Maybe we will find that out next month.

Facebook understands that the cryptocurrency sphere is now very popular and while this sphere can bring a lot of money, Facebook is going to get this money and therefore we are waiting for new discoveries from Facebook in cryptocurrency sphere.

I don’t understand why a Facebook company has its own token?
Probably the token will be a means of calculating the social network. But for what?

have long been talking about that facebook will release its own coin. such an event would add even more popularity to the crypto market and this would be a good advertisement for both facebook and crypto currency.but I wonder how  facebook will apply its coin? :)

I think this is a new opportunity for the development of crypto in the future. With the search for altcoin by Facebook, it will increase the spread of crypto in cyberspace, especially Facebook.

This seems like there is a policy change on Facebook. Before Facebook ever banned uploads about cryptocurrency, it is now face-to-face looking for an altcoin for investment in it. This is a progress for my security.

the cryptocurrency technology is known for its decentralization. i wonder how facebook, owned by a one fellow plans to understand that. i am sure the token they are planing to work on will be centralized.  very hard to be accepted but due to the money involved people will key in.

It would be very good! Example Facebook may follow other serious companies, it can really increase the weight of the whole crypto market. Now we can all just follow the situation.

facebook may use ethereum blockchain to start their new coin. it would be big since facebook nowadays was the most used social media platform in the world. It would bring advantage to the crypto world if Facebook will join crytocurrency. Let's just wait how this giant platform takes the world of crypto.

If a facebook invests money to produce its own coin or token then it does not mean that the market will start to grow at a crazy pace. The market will start to grow when for lofty players they create the right conditions for safe trading and storage of cryptocurrency. In a word, big players are waiting for legalization

It should be a great support if Facebook follows to have a coin as well. I think Facebook will be so easy to invite investors. I assume all coins will be sold just in a minute. All people know well Facebook, no reasons for people to miss it.

This is a sure hype coin when it comes out and probably many will join if they have an IEO or any token sale conducted cause the owner of the conpany is famous and social sites that connected to it is also big. I think many people would join and grab some fbcoin. I wonder how the ecosystem will run. Also non crypto user can get an idea of the blockchain and how it works.

Facebook is a very large social media, and has a very large community.  Of course its presence in Cryptocurrency will have a huge influence.  And I also believe, this will have a very positive impact on the development of Cryptocurrency.  Let's wait, if Facebook will actually launch Crypto, if I really hope it will happen.
