Seems to me that you trust ICOs more than you trust small POW coins as you forgot to include these on your list... ICO/IEO are not the whole investment world... there are new projects rising every day that don't ask you for your money in advance...
Top coins are a safer investment, I agree, and one should definitely focus on those, nevertheless, I always dedicate a portion of my available funds to invest on a few promising gems (POW with own blockchain) that have potencial for more than 10x...
The problem is always the same risk vs potential reward... higher the risk, higher the reward... (except on ICO's)
And because I don't like to be speaking out without giving an example, I can tell you that one of my current gems is Veil project, that has a ricdiculous market cap in comparison to the potencial and tech of their product. These guys have a structure and a solid team, and they just solved the problems found both in Monero as well as Zcash, combining these techs on a bullet proof product... a lot of potential, worth checking out
