Title: Facebook’s new cryptocurrency
Post by: shadow.bishop on June 15, 2019, 07:27:01 PM
Visa, Mastercard, PayPal and Uber are all backing Facebook’s new cryptocurrency, according to a new report.

The Wall Street Journal reported Thursday that the social media giant has signed on more than a dozen backers for its GlobalCoin cryptocurrency, a stablecoin that has been developed in secrecy for more than six months. Each of the new backers will invest roughly $10 million in the project as part of a governing consortium for the cryptocurrency.

It is great news, there many parties supporting the innovation of Facebook. I assume there are many impacts to appear after Facebook releases its coin in the near future. I hope there are many parties to adopt crypto when Facebook follows the crypto trend. Anyway, Facebook to provide its coin is surprising for me.

Every new supporter must invest around 10,000,000 USD, is this serious?
Very much value and this is not imagined if (at a minimum) there are 100 people who join, we can count it like this.

10,000,000 USD x 10 Investors = 100,000,000 USD.

it's only with 10 investors, what if 500 investors from all over the world or more. Wow Amazing!

"has been developed in secrecy for more than six months" is just too funny. Let us pretend that we have not heard of the global coin yet or that they have been in contact with exchanges already.

Aside from being a stable coin, I don't see it having any kind of privacy feature also.

And besides, the popularity of globalcoin, the project may be very difficult to participate as per bounty hunting. Hunters may not have the opportunities to earn much if this huge sum( $10m) has already been planned by some of these investors.

It means that the popularity of cryptocurrency is expanding even those existing giants are already threatened thats why they are adopting it and ride with the flow. But i think its not like Bitcoin that work in decentralized way. its very obvious because they are controlled by centralized entities.

The whole question is - will this cryptocurrency really be used?  That they will try to raise its price is yes, but whether it will be used is a big question.  Although advertising cryptocurrency in such a huge social network is good.

Facebook really seems to offer very serious cryptocurrency. They have their own big name and then going to create the crypto. I think with their great team, this coin can enter the crypto world easily. However, of course, it should match with how valuable, useful, and applicative the crypto itself.

Yeah, it surely weird but with the increasing population of crypto, they need also to create this kind of things. What if other social media adopt this crypto because of the demand of people to pay through online. I guess that is what Facebook team looking out.

Regarding the fact that billions of people are already using this coin, I am not very sure if at least that Libra should have been released only a few days ago - on June 18. This coin is too publicized, but time will tell whether it will be in demand.

If things will happen according to the article this will be very huge. Facebook has huge customer base if facebook successfully introduce their coin in the market it would be huge in my opinion but I heard member of US congress wants to halt Libra. It would not be easy for facebook to start their coin as there will be many obstacles in their way but overall it gives a positive signal to the crypto market.

A permission to run a node, from an entity, defies the number one advantage of blockchain: TRUST. This coin is marketed as cryptocurrency, to undermine cryptocurrency, in the eyes of it's users. If there is a coin fail, most people will think, that cryptocurrency fails. This is the great danger of this coin. Of course, most people here, understand the difference, but the poor users, they will be in trouble.

The whole question is - will this cryptocurrency really be used?  That they will try to raise its price is yes, but
It is a Stablecoin, it is impossible for them to raise its price.
Its price is tied to a basket of bank deposits in the major currencies, and to short-term gov bonds.

If cryptos were destined to be used by the masses, that was only possible in form of a Stablecoin.
The daily use of money can't cope with volatility

Libra has a weakness.
One of the main reason for the success of cryptos was their being an alternative to national currencies, to fiat money.
Libra is backed by fiat money.
As soon as people lose confidence in what backs Libra, they'll lose confidence in Libra

Libra will be the cryptocurrency by Facebook that may have big influence in the crypto world. I think it really has a great chance to be stable and become one of the top ten coins in CMC next.

If the backers/investors will have to invest $10million each, this means the coin is to be an expensive coin, that might not be gotten by everyone in the crypto ecosystem. On the other hand, it is not a volatile coin, which means somehow, someway, bounty hunters and low investors might not also have the coin.

The point of Bitcoin.
This is an important question, what's the point of cryptocurrencies.
Reading in the forums related to cryptos I get the impression that today Bitcoin, and in general cryptos, are basically considered and used as a way to speculate and make more or less quick money, but I don't think that cryptocurrencies should be reduced to that.
So, what did Satoshi meant creating Bitcoin?

I don't know about ya'll but I'm not really looking forward to this so called Libra coin. First off, it's not even a cryptocurrency. For a crypto to be one, the underlining feature is to be decentralised, which, Libra clearly isn't. Second off, it needs to be peer-to-peer, which again, Libra isn't. And if some articles are to be believed, we can't even use Libra like a normal crypto! Just use it in the fb or messenger app, idk.
I could go on and on, but anyways

Libra coin is already existed in the coinmarketcap, it increases and decreseases just like what other coins too. But to partnership to be a strong coin i think its not, they can run each other in a the same. They just need more development to process and can carry on by the time.

Why can you first register on CoinMarketCap because Libra gets full support from Facebook.
CoinMarketCap still loses its financial strength from Facebook, so like it or not, CoinMarketCap has to submit and put the Libra in its list, even though Libra isn't available at this time.

Yes. This does not change, the fact that the main income will be the data sold to companies. I like cryptocurrencies, as they are today. I see no reason to use Libra. Creyptocurrency enthusiasts, are looking for a decentralized world. Libra users love centralization. Let them enjoy what they want.

Just with the prospect of Libra coins there were big problems. Now the United States and Europe are united in their resolute intention at the legislative level to prevent the emergence of this coin. A corresponding bill has already been submitted to the US Congress that does not allow large IT campaigns to participate in such financial projects. Also at the meeting of G-20 finance ministers of the countries, it was decided to prohibit the circulation of this coin on its territory. Therefore, Libra may never appear.

I don't know if the US and Europe can stop Libra and Facebook to have a digital coin. I think it is like a drama, why they just respond it right now. Libra issue didn't appear yesterday, it already appeared for weeks or even months. I don't know what behind the ban news, but it seems like a drama.

Actually the concept brought by the Facebook cryptocurrency called Libra is very promising. Moreover it ha partnership with trusted payment method around the world. But we must analyze more this coin next. Hopefully, it will be worth buying

Yes, it is promising. Governments are panicked, because suddenly, millions of people, will have access to another currency. This is a major threat. Normal cryptocurrencies, have a small number of users, that grow slowly. No threat at all.

According to Reuters, French finance minister Bruno Le Maire told a news conference on July 18 that the G7 “cannot accept private companies issuing their own currencies without democratic control.”

https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2019-07-18/libra-will-upset-world-economy-if-it-isnt-regulated-tightly-g7-warns

What kind of "democratic control" are central banks subject to?

It’s one thing if a coin that claims to have a global impact on the global financial market is issued by the state, and another if it is issued by a private campaign, when it can declare its bankruptcy on any given day. For the financial market, this can have very bad consequences. And influential states see their serious competitor in Libra.

If the situation develops precisely in such a plane, then most likely the scales will function as a payment system, like PayPal.  Of course this is my personal opinion.  But I would like to see the final result of the project in order to then be able to talk about the real product, and not about Facebook’s plans.

The creation of tokens by a company like Facebook indicates that Bitcoin is constantly used by people in the future and that all transactions will be done continuously through Bitcoin

For me, this is a "dark horse."  It is believed so much, it is attributed to greatness compared to other coins, but it has not shown itself yet, I do not know how to evaluate it.

It's not difficult for Facebook to raise as much as needed. I am sure Fabokok's cryptocurrency will be popular, also TON

I think that we still have to see what the struggle will be between Facebook and the US government.  If, indeed, Libra is a competitor of the dollar, then many countries are waiting for negative consequences, and not only in the United States.

After reading this article (https://www.reddit.com/r/BlockChain24/comments/c63stp/libra_not_such_a_promised_land/), I've started to disagree that Libra will be cryptocurrency at all. We still don't know much about this coin, but all signs suggests that this will be an exact opposite of cryptocurrency ideals
Exactly, to me Libra is a huge mystery right now. It's too early to say something more abut it. One thing is certain: Libra is impactful. Great article, by the way.

Libra, will boost cryptocurrency awareness. It's not a cryptocurrency, but it will bring the concept to millions of users. This is positive.

This is absolutely a great news. These all all big companies whose presence on crypto can spark a new euphoria and cause a rise. Unfortunately, some bad news have covered some of these good news and so the market hasn't shown any reflection of the good news. I hope it does soon

Yes, Facebook is creating their new coin called Libra as a stable coin. It has a great chance to develop as it has a partnership with the big companies and system in the world. With the advantages, I think It is not difficult for Libra to be successful.

not Facebook, but Libra,
Facebook creates a coin called Libra.
I'm sure this coin has a big impact on the cryptocurrency industry, not only that Libra will also be able to compete with big coins like Ethereum and BCH.
but to compete with BTC I'm not so sure, because when Libra has a lot of support, there will be many people who will get to know bitcoin and buy it because of the scarcity that bitcoin has. while Libra is only a stable coin.

actually this is a new breakthrough for facebook. this class of companies also took out digital currency. but the question is, can the coins that come out continue to compete with the predecessor coin coins. or just follow the rules to follow the market.

I think the Libra project will come out sooner or later. And that now around him a panic is specially escalating, that this project is publicized. It will come out when there is favorable ground for this. I think a maximum of another year and the project will heal. We are waiting for 2020

Yes, I Think so. Facebook is a social media that has worldwide, no one does not have Facebook, if Facebook has started to take part in the world of cryptocurrency it is not impossible if the coin held or issued by Facebook will definitely boom. I'm sure.

It is unlikely that we will already see the ever-advertised prematurely Libra project. Visa has already left this project, and Facebook itself doubted that this project could be implemented. Facebook is now faced with such desperate resistance to this project from the G-7 states, which they are unlikely to be able to overcome. Most likely, a similar project in the near future may launch the Chinese government.

Facebook is the largest social media in the world, if Facebook makes a Cryptocurrency currency, of course this will get the attention of Facebook members.  And we have long heard about the Cryptocurrency project from Facebook, Libra, but many people do not believe or doubt about the existence of this project. Actually I am also waiting for this project to emerge.  Is this project that will be worked on by Facebook, it can affect people who have been playing Cryptocurrency.  Will they move from Bitcoin and Ethereum, then to Libra?  we are waiting for further news.

It looks like there is at least no verfication procedue to obtain the FBC crypto, because after all Zuckerberg's already got everybody's personal information and hence, it should be fast..

Indeed.
Libra doesn't need no Know-Your-Client procedure, as FB knows already everything about us.

It seems that with the advent of the stable Libra coin  has more and more problems. In the US Congress, Zuckerberg was forced to say that Libra will no longer have anything to do with Facebook. In this case, even if a coin appears, it will be a completely different coin than previously planned.
In addition, the role of such a global coin will be claimed by the Chinese stable coin CBDC and the stable coin of the US government.

The capabilities and technologies of Libra are certainly incredible and I'm sure that Libra would have many customers, but recently the USA has been constantly creating problems for further promotion of Libra and it is not known how it will all end.

Yes, it's because Facebook has many supporters. So they are without a doubt supporting Libra issued by Facebook. Indeed, we need a stable coin, but, too much stablecoin is also bad.

It was actually surprising because Libra has very potential to work, however, it is because of the rule and statement from the US. They cannot spread again and get a partnership with that big commerce. It is very silly, but Libra must still go on

It was supposed to come even earlier in the libra market. But if something doesn't come up for a mistake, the libraries will come up front. I think I should start a new campaign with libra. The campaign will have many more broadcasts and promotions.
