Although it should come as no surprise, the United States leads the world in tweets about Bitcoin and Facebook’s new cryptocurrency ‘Libra.’ The other five countries in the running are the United Kingdom, Canada, Turkey, India, and Australia.

There should be no doubt as to where the most buzz surrounding Bitcoin is. According to a new study by research firm The Tie, around 38.9% of all Bitcoin-related tweets were from the United States. The United Kingdom came in at a distant second, making up around 10.5%.

However, what’s just as interesting is that the proportion of Americans tweeting about the Libra is even higher than Bitcoin, with the United States making up 43.8% of all Libra-related tweets.

Some other fun facts the study found include:

- American tweets are overwhelmingly positive towards Bitcoin, with over 61% of tweets being favorable.
- However, this is only slightly higher than average, with 59.8% of all tweets about Bitcoin being positive.
- Altogether, Americans and Brits make up over 50% of all Bitcoin-related tweets.
- Other nations in the ‘top 5’ include India, Canada, and Turkey.
- Although other nations tweet about Bitcoin far less, they are far more positive. Peru, for example, stands out for being the ‘most positive’ on Bitcoin.

The fact that Bitcoin-related tweets are mostly from the United States tells us how much the industry still has to grow. Most of Europe was notably absent from this study, indicating there is still much room for growth.

One interesting factoid in the study was that Venezuela leads the world in the most negative tweets about Bitcoin, making up around 62% of all of them. This is likely due to frustrations over Bitcoin’s high fees, which many Venezuelans cannot afford due to hyperinflation.

Overall, the trends on Twitter seem strong for Bitcoin. However, we can expect the Twitter crypto-verse to continue to expand beyond the United States as the industry grows.

I'm a little surprised that the leaders on Twitter about conversations on the subject of bitcoins and the new stable Libra coin are residents of the United States and England. Citizens of these countries do not have a strong commitment to cryptocurrency. As for the Libra coin, residents of developed countries with a high standard of living should be interested in using such an upcoming global means of payment.

I's obvious but only due to this fact that people in this countries use twitter much more than others. In my county, only a few percents of people use twitter, majority uses facebook and instagram.

America is the world's top crypto community, but many ICO projects prohibit American citizens from participating. Hopefully this information will change the attitudes of US legal authorities to crypto issues, so that their citizens are free in crypto space.

Residents of USA and the UK often use Twitter to express their thoughts, so these statistics show the majority of tweets from these countries. For example, in Asia, other social networks are more popular and if we take them into account, then it is quite possible that among Asian countries there would be no less than those who positively refer to cryptocurrencies and negotiate this on social networks. By the way, for example, recent surveys among residents of China showed that about 60% of people would like to purchase Bitcoin and another cryptocurrency.

Yes, whether positive or negative comments on these tweets, i think it has added to the spread of crypto information around the world. Sometimes, when people thought that they are giving negative news about something in a social media, it eventually bring in more people attention and making people familiar with about things. I think it is good thing the US and UK plus other nations talking about crypto, whether Libra or Bitcoin, it obviously getting people closer to knowing for about crypto generally.

After Reddit, Twitter became a crypto-hub after Twitter's CEO voiced support for blockchain / cryptocurrencies. Different from the chaotic information on Facebook, more effective and impressive tweets, celebrities also frequently talked about crypto on their twitter account.

This is probably because most of UK and USA no longer use facebook. I wonder what the statistics are on other nations where facebook is still the preferred choice.

It simply may indicate that this social network is popular in these countries. Because about the UK, I have doubts that they are more interested in cryptocurrency compared to other countries.

Actually, this is obvious because for example at my country, Poland, Twitter is not as popular as in USA or UK. Just like WhatsApp, it is an attractive app among people here, but for sure less, than abroad. Most people use Facebook and instagram when it comes to such social media.
