Hedgie is a virtual character in a Blockchain game, a cryptocollectible that can be owned, sold, gifted and used inside the game to make coin. Technically speaking Hedgie is an ERC-721 non-fungible token on Ethereum Blockchain.
There are 4 elemental powers determined by proximity of Hedgie’s colour to 4 power centres (primary colours corresponding to elements: Green = Earth, Blue = Water, Red = Fire and White = Air). The powers affect Hedgie’s performance in each of the four worlds available in initial release of the game. These worlds are Forest (corresponding to Earth element), Wetlands (corresponding to water), Mountaintops (air) and Desert (fire).
Now you can purchase your Hedgie with a credit card. Simply choose Credit Card as your payment option and go through easy and familiar payment steps. We will then pay Blockchain transaction fees and transfer your chosen Hedgie ownership to you automatically. There are 2 types of tokens on our platform: Hedgies are ERC-721 tokens and are required to start playing, it is your identifier in the game. You may think of it as your login. Curio is an ERC-20 token, it can only be mined by a player inside the game.
• Curio Token:
You earn Curio by interactions in the game. Hedgie goes on the journey into one of the four game worlds and brings back the loot that you can consume, collect or exchange for Curio. Consuming edible loot gives a performance boost. Collecting a full collection of one type of loot gives a much bigger boost.
There are also tools and gears that you can purchase for Curio in the game to increase Hedgie’s performance. So players who earn Curio can sell it to new players who want to buy tools to boost their Hedgie's performance.
Since Curio is ERC-20 token it will be traded on decentralized exchanges like EtherDelta or ForkDelta.
For Curio value to go up we make a connection between our game and the real world. Our vision is to extend the utility of the Curio Coin Hedgie makes for you in the game into the world by forming business partnerships with progressive businesses, “businesses of the future”. Imagine an urban world where you send your Hedgie and it comes back with a loot of local product or service “Approved By Hedgie”, that you can redeem for Curio you made in the game. With Blockchain technology gaining mainstream adoption it’s becoming more apparent that it will be staying here for a long time, and affecting our lives on many levels hopefully in very positive ways. One application of this technology is enabling unique digital assets, that, much like their analog counterparts cannot be copied or multiplied. The non-fungible ERC-721 token on Ethereum Blockchain is now a commonly accepted standard for such unique virtual objects, commonly known as cryptocollectibles. One famous example is Crypto Kitties, that back in November 2017 had taken the Blockchain world by storm. Since then there were several other games making use of this concept, most notable being FishBank, CryptoCelebrities and Etheremon.
We all saw how the Crypto Kitties congested Ethereum network, driving transaction costs through the roof and slowing down the game itself to the point where it was almost impossible to play. To avoid this issue and make the game more entertaining and actually free to play we take most of the transactions off Blockchain. Similarly to crypto exchanges, players will only use the Blockchain when they need to move their crypto assets (Hedgies and Coins).
All gameplay happens off-Blockchain. Values of Curio get accumulated tracked on the backend until a user wants to withdraw them, at which point we initiate a transaction through Infura. This way user can transfer Curio outside the game and hodl or sell on exchange.
When user purchases Hedgie originally for fiat we write into Blockchain and pay transaction fees automatically. User just needs to have Metamask, even with zero Ether in it. Hedgie token gets transferred to user’s Metamask wallet.
