Title: Is the market being manipulated now?
Post by: Domithra on April 02, 2018, 11:51:49 AM
From the look of the coin graphs, it appears that almost all the coins rise together and when falling, they do together. Is that ringing a bell to you? Do you think it is planned to happen that way? Is the market being manipulated by some bodies - governments, banks or some prominent personnels?

There's a rumors about Cartels, whales who manipulate the market. But I think it's not true, market is difficult to manipulate. If ever that will happen, then no more traders will depend on crypto.

This phenomenon is caused by the connection between BTC & ETH to all altcoins, since the main trading pairs are against BTC, ETH and USDT (USDT can be excluded since it's stable at 1$). So, when BTC or ETH fall, all other do so as well.

The thing to understand with this is smart money isnt panicking.. imagine money in 3 faces of a rotating statue.. when alts run, people sell back to btc.. since btc is always just one face away from optimal.. so in bull runs open alt positions, make profit, go back to btc.. if market still moves sideways open another position sell to make btc.. when btc rallies all alts will die or if btc falls, all alts will die, so its important to keep a large position in btc and only trade very conservatively in alts.. if btc starts to tip over you can shift to USDT to shelter for the loss, or stay in btc to buy back alts that bleed out in the correction.. the way you make the most money is understanding when to be in each of these 3 positions and when to abandon them.. smart money doesnt just hodl alts forever... because alts sometimes are two faces out of position when btc is getting slaughtered.. best to be in btc at this time but its too late now, just adjust on the next rally/decline.

Interesting last post, More of an insight into movements than most of us here I'm sure. I'm still at the very early stages of learning the intricacies of trading, just sticking to buying and holding at the moment; already got burned a couple of times trying to be clever, so happy enough just to wait it out with projects I am confident will succeed (still no guarantees I know). Looking forward to getting more involved over the next few months, but will not be plunging in headfirst. Good thing about trading as opposed to holding is it doesn't really matter as much how high the prices are, just which way you see them moving next. By next year I would like to making a bit of money no matter whether the market is moving up or down. Anyway, thanks for the tips, I'll get back to my books now.

The market is simply based on supply and demand. Since the market is so young and Bitcoin is the grandfather, the market is following the leader. When the market hits a high, smart investors cash out and hold until the market dips and then get back into the market. It's unlikely that the market is being manipulated.
