Title: CFTC President: Ethereum futures will soon be released
Post by: fcfchain on February 07, 2020, 09:02:59 AM
We already have Bitcoin futures, including cash payments and Bitcoin payments. I guess we will also have Ether futures, ”Tar Tarbert told Bloomberg in an interview on Thursday.

The first time the CFTC Chairman discussed the Ether futures was in October 2019. At that time, he stated that he "fully" believes that Ethereum-based futures contracts can be traded in the next 06 to 12 months.

In addition, in an interview on Thursday, Tarbert shared that he wanted the United States to "take the lead" in the advancement of blockchain technology and digital assets.

“I want to encourage innovation and it's interesting that the goods are what we regulate. Especially derivative products on the commodity. ”- He commented.

Tarbert reiterated that Bitcoin and Ether are commodities and under the management of the CFTC. Also, in a previous interview, he said that classifying XRP as securities or commodities is still "unclear".

Do not expect too much from that guy. It could probably take another year or two before Ethereum futures gets approval. Regulators were slow to act and talked a lot when it came to Bitcoin futures and I expect them to do the same here. We shouldn't also put our hopes that Ethereum ETF will pump the price.
