Back in 2017 I bought a lot of Altcoins. And almost all of them fall like -90% or even -99%.
Is there any point in holding them any longer? Or just get rid of it and write it off?
This is my portfolio (I'm not allowed post links): coinparator.com/yKwJQH/
Should I sell it all, keep only BTC, ETH, LTC? Or should I wait? Is there any future?
-
I think it’s better to sell. There are no prerequisites for prices for most altcoins to rise above the previous level, or at least to the previous price.
-
Sorry to hear, I feel very sad to those who buy at 2017 and hold then until when the bull run is on its peak. Much better to sell them off and buy some major coins like BTC, ETH and BNB. In this way, the chance are higher compared to that altcoins you are holding.

Is that a referral link?
I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt that you are sincere in asking here.
Here are some of the things that I would consider whether to sell or not:
- Is the development still active? If yes, then I might just wait it out. Since it's 99% down, it wouldn't make any difference if I sell it now.
- Is there still a solid community behind the project? If yes, it's possible that a turn around will happen in the short or long term (depending on the overall market).

Not a refferal link, its a link to my portfolio. Which shows what I own, maybe easier to answer when you know what I own.

It's up to you to decide of course, but as I see, you invested in very interesting and popular altcoins and in bitcoin, so here you need to seriously think what to do, so it's better for you to think things through by yourself, because it is difficult to predict which altcoin will rise in price.
-
I know that feeling because I'm also encountered that situation in that same year 2018 but not as bad as yours, my portfolios were just down up to 50 percent and not just like yours at 99 percents thats too low it's almost worthless if you letting that happen its no use to sell that, for now, it's almost worthless just take more risk to hold it and don't sell at that price it's too cheap.
-
I just faced same problem I already have invested money altcoins with huge amount of money but all of them fallen in dumped over 90 %. Some altcoins already delisted from exchanges. So how can I hold them in long term period. Actually I keep them in wallet as a worthless coins.
-
Now a great opportunity for a hold of altcoins, they cost mere pennies on a decentralized exchange. You can get 50 Xs if you buy several million now or earn tokens in banus programs.
-
So you bought altcoin when altcoin reached the highest price at that time? If you are experienced in trading, you can cut loss or sell a part and wait at the bottom price. I do it continuously until the crypto price recovers.
-
Altcoins have just begun to grow after the general fall of the cryptocurrency market, which began in December 2017. Already now you can decide which of the altcoins will grow in value. I see no reason to sell them at the current very low price. It’s best to analyze how things are with the team behind these altcoins and if the altcoins are working, I would not advise them to sell them yet. They can bring even greater profits than bitcoin.
-
What Altcoin do you save? if you save altcoin that is not clear, of course, you will lose your assets. Before buying altcoin you better research it. Or better buy altcoin like eth, bnb, and others.
-
I'm not sure if I have to hold a coin for more than 1 year. I see many more interesting coins there and the technology used is better than before. Usually I hold it for 3 months and sell it.
-
If you are holding top altcoins like ETH, XRP, ADA, BNB, etc. why not to keep them. There are some factors that can trigger the rise on the prices this year. The main reason is about Bitcoin halving and the progress of BTC price improvement. So, I think the altcoin prices will follow BTC trend.
-
It depends on how brave yiu will take the risks. Every decision requires risks. If you want to make profits without losing, you must be more patient by holding the coin much longer waiting for next bullrun. But, if you want to cut lose and move on, ut will make you decide new decision.
-
You had better wait. The growth of bitcoin will be before the growth of altcoins. It is worth waiting up to 50 x or more. I wish you good luck. I think LTC is the best
-
If it were me I'll probably just sell those who aren't active on the market much in the past couple of months and just leave coins that I consider will have a great future ahead. Probably you can compare your list to what Binance has like the top 10 or 20 coins that are doing well and have a great team.
-
I can not say anything about the hold of altcoins, but the growth of bitcoin is quite predictable. I advise you to think about a hold of bitcoin. Altcoins are less stable; dropping them can drastically reduce your funds.
-
Hold them! You won't lose much if you do. If you sell, you definitely will. But first check out whether those alts are still alive! ;)
-
Sorry to hear that. If those projects still developing or they are very active and developing that project day by day then hold them because if you sell all those then you will take 90% loss and that's a lot. If that project is dead then you should sell. There is no need for holding a dead project. Be careful when choosing a project.
-
as I already wrote, I believe in altcoins and now it’s too late to sell them, you have to hold and hold ..... those who will protect their assets and not sell them for fiat will succeed
-
Already wrote my opinion on this subject, altcoins have a future, I'm sure. Projects will appear new in the private sector. And this is after the development of styb coins. Already in the next 1-2 years
-
i think you need to sell off the LTC and Monero and add more of IOST, Tezor Or you can choose to add CHILZ. this are my favourite tokens and i totally. support these tokens believing in their long term plan. crypto is too volatile that anything can happpen.
-
In late 2013, at the peak of the bull market, the top 10 coins included names such as Peercoin, Namecoin, Megacoin, and Feathercoin.Only the initial three remain at the top in 2020: Bitcoin, Litecoin, and Ripple. It's up to you to decide.
-
I think it is necessary to hold altcoins. Buy cheap in decentralized markets for now. Now millions of tokens can be received free of charge in bounty companies. A real freebie!
