PRESEARCH IS BUILDING A NEXT-GENERATION SEARCH ENGINE, POWERED BY THE COMMUNITY.

Presearch is a ground up, community movement, similar to Wikipedia. Human curation is an important strategy that is combined with scalable machine learning approaches. This curation and overall development of the platform is incentivized with PRE (Presearch Token) exchangeable tokens that reward participants’ efforts.

PRESEARCH - Community driven decentralized search that rewards you with $PRE tokens

Presearch has a blockchain-based PRE token at the heart of its ecosystem. This token is built on an open source, transparent and decentralized platform called ‘Ethereum’ that handles the security and hosting of PRE. The current price of PRE tokens on external markets can be found on CoinMarketCap.

PRE tokens and how do rewards work

Presearch has a blockchain-based PRE token at the heart of its ecosystem. This token is built on Ethereum blockchain.

Contract: 0x88a3e4f35d64aad41a6d4030ac9afe4356cb84fa
Decimals: 18
Total Supply: 170,000,001 PRE

The Presearch PRE token is the key medium of exchange within the Presearch ecosystem and is used for the following purposes:
1. To reward members for usage, contribution to, and promotion of the platform
2. To purchase sponsorships and promotional placements
3. To reward partners who have provided traffic and visibility to Presearch
4. To have input on community matters
5. To fund development projects undertaken by the community

Presearch offers PRE tokens as a reward for those who search through the platform. These tokens have intrinsic value because they are the access tokens purchased by advertisers to target searchers entering certain keywords.

The amount currently provided to searchers is 0.25 PRE. You can earn up to 8 PRE tokens every 24 hours. After you hit the 8 PRE threshold searches are not rewarded until the 24 hour time period resets at 12am midnight, UTC. The current rate as of 12:00am UTC on March 10th is 0.12 PRE/search up to 30 searches per day. 25 PRE tokens can also be earned when you refer a new user through your referral account.

Combating Abuse
Any type of incentivized system like Presearch is prone to those who would try to game the system via either automated means (bots) or deliberately searching solely to earn tokens. To discourage from this type of behavior, we have developed what we’ve termed the reward verification system that, based on a user’s search patterns (search terms are never stored), assigns a PRE level based on a confidence algorithm that assesses the likelihood that someone is searching primarily to accumulate tokens.

Withdrawal / Redemption of PRE Rewards
The number of PRE that a user has earned is then multiplied by their PRE level to determine the number of tokens they are eligible to withdraw. Each user must collect at least 1,000 PRE to initiate a withdrawal.
After a withdrawal is initiated, it must currently be approved first. It can take up to 72 hours of a withdrawal to be approved, which gives us the opportunity to combat fraud and protect the system from abuse.

Reward Usage
Earned rewards are used primarily for two purposes, to run advertising on the platform and for sale to other purchasers for conversion into local currency or alternative cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum.

The current price of PRE tokens on external markets can be found on CoinMarketCap.

Reward Token Withdrawal

Earned rewards are used primarily for two purposes, to run advertising on the platform and for sale to other purchasers for conversion into local currency or alternative cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum. The number of PRE that a user has earned is then multiplied by their PRE level to determine the number of tokens they are eligible to withdraw.

Before a Presearch Member can use their Presearch Reward Tokens or withdraw them to the Presearch blockchain, Tokens must be verified and marked as Eligible for withdrawal. After a withdrawal is initiated, it must currently be approved first. It can take up to 72 hours of a withdrawal to be approved, which gives us the opportunity to combat fraud and protect the system from abuse.

The percentage of your Reward Tokens that are eligible for withdrawal will correspond to your PRE Level and are called 'Eligible Tokens':

PRE Level      Eligible Tokens
Level 8-10:     100% of Reward Tokens
Level 7:          70% of Reward Tokens
Level 6:          60% of Reward Tokens
Level 5:          50% of Reward Tokens
Level 4:          40% of Reward Tokens
Level 3:          30% of Reward Tokens
Level 2:          20% of Reward Tokens
Level 1:          10% of Reward Tokens
Level 0:          None - account suspended

In order to initiate a withdrawal of PRE Tokens to a blockchain address, all members must first have more than 1,000 Eligible Tokens and supply an ERC20-compatible wallet address.

Withdrawals can currently only be done in batches of 1,000 tokens. This means that you will only be able to withdraw 1,000 tokens to start. This is done to protect the project from significant Ethereum Gas costs generated by processing many smaller transactions. You will be able to withdraw up to 1,000 tokens every 90 days, unless otherwise approved.

Once a withdrawal request is initiated, it will need to be approved by a Presearch administrator. If a request has been issued or otherwise allowed due to a system error or malicious activity, Presearch reserves the right to block a request at the approval stage. Presearch endeavours to approve all legitimate requests within 72 hours. If your request is initially denied for any reason, you will be notified by a message on the site and will be directed to contact [email protected].

You may be limited to a certain number of withdrawals in a certain period of time, or a certain number of tokens at a single time or in a period of time. This number may change based on your PRE Level or on the needs of the project.

If your account is left dormant for more than one year, meaning that you do not login or record a search for 365 days, Presearch reserves the right to rescind any reward tokens in your account. That does not necessarily mean it will be done, but that the right is there. This does not apply to tokens that have been purchased.

HUGE NEWS!

Presearch reduces the max. supply of PRE by 50%!

We are really excited about this move, and believe this significant improvement to our token economy is in the best interests of the project and our stakeholders.

In an unprecedented economic environment, Presearch is taking steps to ensure its token economy is sound and aligned with the marketplace by reducing the maximum supply of PRE from 1 billion tokens to 500 million.

When we first launched Presearch in 2017, there were a lot of unknowns in the world of cryptocurrency.

We wanted to ensure that there would be sufficient PRE tokens available to support our token economy and so we launched with the ability to mint up to one billion PRE.

Since that time, we’ve seen tremendous growth in the project, signing up 1.4m users, generating more than 10m searches per month, and launching an innovative Keyword Staking platform that has seen approximately 50m PRE staked.

We’ve also had time to evaluate the role of PRE within the ecosystem and to experiment with the token’s utility as a reward mechanism to attract and retain users, and as a payment/staking mechanism for advertising.

In light of the information we now have on the token economics, as well as the post-Covid macroeconomic environment in which we operate, we have made the decision to reduce the maximum supply of PRE from 1 billion tokens to 500 million tokens, effective immediately.

We plan to have this change to our maximum supply implemented before the end of April, including updates to our smart contract, CoinMarketCap and other token information services.

After the new max supply is disseminated, we will proceed forward with only 500 million total PRE able to be created.

This new number will provide us with greater alignment between the project’s current and future support base, including both users and sponsors, and will enable us to bring supply inline with the needs of the project.

Increased transparency

At the same time, we will move to implement a token accounting change that will see transactions previously held off-chain recognized with a corresponding blockchain account, providing increased visibility into token allocations for various holders, activities and expenses, without increasing the supply of tokens in the marketplace.

To reiterate, this is an accounting change and does not impact the number of tokens available compared to where things were yesterday.

During this process, we will move away from using a general liquidity pool utilized to satisfy withdrawal requests to using a number of specific wallets that correspond to specific allocated holdings.

Due to the nature of the rewards program, for instance, some tokens are held in reserve for potential issuance to users who no longer utilize the platform, or for accounts that have been restricted for violating the terms of service. There is a degree of ‘breakage’ (rewards allocated that cannot or will not ever be redeemed) with these allocations that have resulted in internal token transactions not allocated on-chain, as well as internally-allocated purchased or granted tokens that we feel should be recognized on the blockchain.

As a result of moving to recognize all tokens on-chain, Presearch will move to mint these placeholder tokens rather than relying on a database accounting, providing increased visibility and clarity surrounding token status.

The token allocation on-chain will result in the following wallets with associated balances:

This minting is planned to occur on or before the end of April, 2020, and would result in an update to core token statistics as follows:

Max Supply: 500,000,000
Circulating Supply: 399,998,039
Total Supply: 500,000,000

Impact on token and project

These announced changes will have a number of impacts on the token, including but not limited to the following:

Building on a solid foundation

The Presearch team is excited to solidify the PRE token economy as described in this announcement. PRE tokens are the foundation of the project, and these changes solidify the role and position of the key unit of value within the Presearch platform and community.

Our core objective with these changes and notice is to bring the supply of PRE in-line with the needs of the project, ensuring that stakeholders are respected and rewarded for building the Presearch ecosystem, and to provide increased transparency and clarity for those interested in participating in the Presearch token economy.

We will publish a new post with wallet addresses, tx hashes, access schedules and additional details before the end of April, as soon as all blockchain transactions have been completed.

We welcome any questions you may have in our Telegram community channel, https://t.me/presearch, and look forward to the next leg of the Presearch journey.

Thank you to all of our supporters for your trust, belief and input as we build Presearch and strive to reach the potential of the project and community.

WHAT IS KEYWORD STAKING? https://keywords.presearch.org/ (https://keywords.presearch.org/)

Keyword Staking is a term for committing your PRE tokens to a specific word or term.

If you stake the most tokens to a given keyword, your ad will show up when someone searches for that term on Presearch / Dsearch.

You still maintain ownership of your PRE while they are staked, but if you choose to 'unstake' them from a given term, or if someone stakes more than you, your ad will no longer be shown.

During the initial launch phase of the platform, estimated to last until January 2021, there will be no cost for any traffic you receive through your ad.

That's right: no cost per click, no cost per impression, and no cost per action. Just real, quality traffic from more than 1.3m Presearch users who are cryptocurrency enthusiasts and internet power users. Enjoy!

Webinar - Presearch Keyword Staking

MORE INFORMATION

Keyword Staking is a revolutionary new concept being pioneered by Presearch as it builds the world’s first decentralized search engine framework.

We previously covered the challenges and opportunities with traditional keyword ads, and this post will reveal why keyword staking is the next big advertising opportunity for enterprising online marketers and entrepreneurs.

How Presearch Keyword Staking ads work

Keyword Staking enables token holders to commit or ‘stake’ their PRE tokens against specific words and multi-word terms. With Presearch Keyword Staking you choose a keyword (ex. ‘Bitcoin’) and then stake PRE tokens that you’ve purchased or earned against that term. You can then create an ad that you link to the website of your choice.

While tokens are staked, you continue to own and control your PRE, but you can’t use them to stake against other words and you can’t remove them from the Presearch platform. While they are staked they are effectively locked up.

You can unlock or unstake them at any time to withdraw them to the blockchain or sell them, but then your associated ads will not show.

This means that if you buy PRE tokens, stake them against keywords, you can receive traffic while you have them locked up. You can sell your PRE later once you stop using them for staking, making the traffic you received absolutely free.

Free traffic — for now

Traffic from the ad will be free during the alpha release, so the value of staking a keyword is potentially huge and this could prove to be one of an advertiser’s most profitable sources of traffic.

Presearch has more than 1.3m registered users and more than 10m visits per month, making it a top 5 blockchain property. To learn more about size and make up of the Presearch audience, please view this post: https://medium.com/@presearch/who-uses-presearch-7ec65c4170ad

The currently planned length of time that traffic will be free is 12 months, making it free until January, 2021 but the ultimate length will depend on the uptake of the platform and need to reward users. Expect anywhere from 6 to 18 months from the date of launch of the Keyword Staking platform.

Ranking of keywords

The ranking factors associated with keyword staking may change in time, but at the launch of the platform this is the way things work:

A user types in a keyword or key phrase, let’s say it’s “Toronto Real Estate”.

The ad server will look to find any ads where the advertiser has used the exact term “Toronto Real Estate” as their trigger keyword.

It will then look to see how many PRE tokens are staked or locked to the keyword, and whichever advertiser has staked the most PRE will have their ad displayed.

Now, if there are no matches for the exact term “Toronto Real Estate”, it will break the phrase down into individual terms, so it will find ads with the keyword “Toronto” or “Real” or “Estate” and it will pick whichever ad has the most PRE tokens staked to it and display it.

It’s a fairly simple system to start with, and because of that, it provides many opportunities to capture qualified search traffic at no or low cost.

YOUR STAKING STRATEGY (part I)

Getting Started

There are essentially two ways to approach the opportunity:
1. You have some experience and knowledge of a certain industry, or know of an affiliate program that you’d like to find traffic for
2. You’re going to find traffic opportunities and then look for affiliate programs to help you monetize the traffic

Either way, you need to identify keywords and prepare to stake them, but in the second approach, you’re going to spend more time sorting through affiliate offers to see if any match the potential keywords that you come up with.

Doing keyword research

In either case, you’re going to want to do as much keyword research as you can to identify terms that are relevant to the offer you want to provide.
For example, you are going to try to find traffic from people who are potential crypto traders.

You start brainstorming and you come up with the following terms: Binance, Trade crypto, Crypto exchange, Buy Bitcoin, Buy Ethereum

In addition to words you are familiar with, you can use external tools like WordTracker, KeywordTool.io, Wordstream, Moz or Ahrefs.

There are many guides to keyword research as well. A really basic trick that works well for identifying the popularity of search terms is to just go to Google.com and when you start typing in the search field, you’ll see a list of suggestions. Those are usually the suggestions are the most-typed words.

Google Trends is another handy tool for discovering new and trending topics: https://trends.google.com/trends

Staking research

You’ll now want to head over to the Presearch Keyword Staking platform - https://keywords.presearch.org/ and research which words have already been staked and at which level.

Above the search field you’ll see how many PRE you have available to stake, and you can buy additional PRE or transfer it into your staking account from your other Presearch wallets.

As you type a word to look up and stake, you’ll see a list of matching words. If it’s a word you’ve already staked, you’ll be able to edit it, otherwise you can stake a word using the ‘Stake This’ button.

Before you decide to stake a word, you should be aware of the information that’s provided on that screen.

The ‘Top Ad Link’ column displays the destination URL for the current top staked ad for that keyword. If there is no link (N/A), then it means no one else is staking that word yet.

The ‘Max Stake’ column shows the amount of PRE that the top staker has committed to that word. You will need to stake more than the top staker for your ad to be displayed. You are welcome to stake less, in case they remove their stake and then yours can display as a back up, but there are no guarantees you’ll receive any exposure for your ad.

The ‘Stakes’ column shows how many individual ads are staked against the indicated keyword, with more stakes meaning that it is a more competitive term.

It’s important for you to understand how keywords are ranked.

Now that you know how to identify keywords and understanding how the staking platform and ad ranking system works, you’re ready to explore staking strategy.

Staking Strategy

Your staking strategy will vary depending on whether you already have significant token holdings that you are looking to deploy, or if you don’t own many PRE yet and are looking for traffic with minimal cost to acquire tokens.

If you have a lot of PRE, and are less concerned with maximizing the traffic value of your tokens, you may wish to put a significant stake against a popular term like “Bitcoin”, “Ethereum” or other words where you have an interest and are able to find some ways to monetize through affiliate offers or simply want to send traffic to a worthy cause that you support.

In this case, you’re probably going to want to stake single word terms like “bitcoin”. If you staked that term, your ad would show up when someone searches for the exact term “bitcoin”, which is a very high-volume term.

Because you would also then show up for ‘fail over’ search terms, your ad would also show up when someone searches for “bitcoin ATM”, “bitcoin wallet”, “buy bitcoin”, “bitcoin price”, etc., as long as no one else is staking those terms.

YOUR STAKING STRATEGY (part II)

For others who are just starting out, we’ll go into more detail about how to optimize traffic while minimizing the number of PRE required to achieve a top stake.

For example, let’s say you find an offer for bitcoin wallets that you really like. You’d love to stake the term “bitcoin”, but someone has already staked millions of PRE against it.

The really accurate term for the type of searcher you’re targeting is more specific anyway, so you identify “bitcoin wallet” and decide to stake more than the current leader so you can win that term.

You then also start looking for other terms that might not be staked yet, which you can get for the minimum amount, which is currently 1,000 PRE per term.

You go to Google and do some quick research, typing in “Bitcoin Wallet”.

It then suggests some other terms, “Bitcoin Wallet App”, “Bitcoin Wallet Online” and “Bitcoin Wallet Canada” that are relevant and which no one else is staking. You decide to stake those too.

Now, whenever someone searches for any of those terms, your ad will come up.

This might be a little confusing, and it may change in the future, but currently you would not show up for those terms just because you staked “Bitcoin Wallet” and that term is contained within the other suggestions we just listed above.

This is because if an ad’s staked keywords do not exactly match what the user searched for, it then defaults to looking at every single term as an individual keyword — in this example, “Bitcoin”, “Wallet” or “Canada”, and would display the ad associated with the term that has the largest stake.

In this case, it’s likely that the term “Bitcoin” has the highest stake, and so that ad would show. However, if the term “Canada” had the highest stake, the ad for the term “Canada” would show up.

This provides a million opportunities to try to stake terms for minimal PRE.

We’d suggest this as a general strategy:

Stake popular words that are not staked (ex. cars, computers, real estate, etc.) for small amounts to start with the expectation that you will eventually be outbid by someone focusing on those specific niches.

That will enable you to scoop up traffic for the broad terms, as well as the more specific multiple-word searches.

Then, once others start staking those keywords and squeeze you out of the top position, start looking for longer, more specific multiple word terms and do the same thing — small stakes to capture the top position and traffic, followed by either increasingly large stakes to defend your top position as needed, or expand out to longer, more specific terms as your shorter ones are taken by others.

We’ll go into this in more detail in a future post, but in the meantime, if you have questions, we suggest joining our Telegram community and asking questions to the admins and members there about how best to meet your traffic goals.

Staking Your First Keyword

Once you’ve identified your words and your strategy, you’re going to go in and start staking terms.

You do this by accessing the Keyword Staking portal (launching on January 29th, 2020) and searching for your words in the field provided.

On the results list that drops down below the search field, click on ‘Stake This’ next to the word of your choice.

You’ll then be taken to a screen that will show you who has the current highest stake amount (you can see the URL they are linking to) at the very bottom.

To outstake someone, you’ll need to increase the amount staked over the maximum by at least 100 PRE or 1% of the highest stake.

So if 1,000,000 PRE were staked against a term, you’d need to stake 1,010,000 to achieve the top position. You do this in the ‘Amount to Stake’ field on the form above. Then, enter your ad headline and URL (more on this later).

Finally, choose the outbid notification frequency from the drop down menu. The options are ‘Real-Time’, ‘Daily’ and ‘Weekly’. The shorter the notification window, the more notifications you’ll receive. You can adjust this at any time.

Once you’re satisfied with your stake, just hit the ‘Next’ button to lock it in and view your ad confirmation.

If you want to cancel a stake (to reallocate your PRE elsewhere, or if you made a mistake), just return to your dashboard and click the ‘Cancel Stake’ button.

Or you can click the ‘Edit Ad Stake’ button to display the ad details for editing.

That should give you enough information to get started.

We’re excited to introduce this amazing marketing opportunity to you and we look forward to seeing all the ways you’ll use the platform to get cheap / free traffic during the initial testing period.

The future of keyword research

Eventually, Presearch will develop its own tools for keyword exploration, but in the meantime, using external tools and estimating popularity based on general search activity is the best way to discover keywords to target.

REFERRAL PROGRAM

You can earn 25 PRE tokens per referral. But there are some requirements. Your PRE tokens become eligible once each referral has earned 50 search reward tokens, and has been active 30 days after their initial sign up.

You can find your referral link here: https://presearch.org/account/referrals

You can share it on facebook, twitter, linkedin or use it everywhere (send email with it, write some article about PreSearch and use there your referral link).

Presearch Completes Token Burn

As promised on April 2nd, Presearch has reduced its maximum supply of PRE tokens from 1 billion to 500 million.

CoinMarketCap has updated the Presearch profile to reflect the new max supply of tokens and we are awaiting changes to our total and circulating supply to be completed.

The new maximum token supply of 500 million PRE will support the growth of the Presearch ecosystem throughout 2020 and into 2021 as we continue building our user base and transition to a model where rewards are purchased by sponsors in order to give to searchers.

With half the number of PRE as before the token burn, this will force the project to confer more value on existing tokens and increase the velocity through the system, driving more demand for PRE, earlier in the life of the project.

We will need to be even more conservative with PRE as well, which will likely require adjusting rewards paid, more strategic sales of the remaining PRE supply to project supporters and also a reduction in the number of PRE allocated to team members.

Benefits for the PRE token

These changes impact the token in a number of ways, including but not limited to the following:

We are excited about these changes to the PRE token supply and believe they will serve the community well.

Stay tuned for our next post providing information on our recent token accounting changes, including a list of Presearch project wallets to enable you to better understand the token flows within the Presearch ecosystem.

Those with questions are invited to pose them on the Presearch Community Telegram channel at https://t.me/presearch

Presearch is one of the top 5 properties in the blockchain space, with more than 1.3 million registered users and 10 million monthly visits.

Presearch has an active community of advocates around the world who are helping to improve and promote the project in a decentralized fashion.

Presearch is now a top 5 crypto property and is holding steady in comparison to the other properties such as CoinMarketCap, Coinbase and Binance.

Because our members value their privacy, we have limited internal tracking and rely on external services like Similarweb, which have the benefit of being externally verified and not our internal claims.

Of the 1.3m registered users, approximately 300,000 sign in to the service on a monthly basis. The majority of these users are from Central America, the United States and South America, with usage from almost every country on Earth.

Regardless of where our members are located, there are some common threads that weave most members together:
1. They value privacy and data ownership
2. They are cryptocurrency enthusiasts and hold crypto
3. They are largely web workers (people whose jobs dictate that they spend a lot of time online) and internet power users who like to customize their environments
4. They are usually accessing Presearch from a computer instead of a mobile device, which is rare in today’s mobile-first world
5. This means they are in research mode and also more likely to complete purchases and take action online

The most active Presearch members have downloaded our browser extensions and customized their Presearch account to list their most commonly-accessed resources. They return often and spend a significant amount of time, almost 10 minutes and 4 page views per session.

There are hundreds of known cryptocurrency thought leaders and influencers who use the platform and these people have been instrumental in our growth. This includes Youtubers, journalists, bloggers, prominent traders and investors as well as marketers and online promoters.

Some users have referred up to 65,000 people to Presearch, and more than 70% of all users were referred by an existing user.

In short, it’s a great audience to reach as it consists largely of tech-savvy, always-online, early adopters who hold cryptocurrency and have demonstrated an ability to advocate for services they are interested in.

Moving forward, we will focus on continued market awareness in the Americas, while we facilitate adoption in other regions through local partners.

Historically, we have done very little promotion of the platform outside of launching our referral program, and are now ramping up user acquisition actively through a number of different channels.

Presearch has become one of the biggest projects in the blockchain space by taking a pragmatic approach and focusing on users over technology.

Platform Components

Blockchain explorer, smart contract and external wallets
Using the Ethereum blockchain, Presearch has its own reward token that operates on an open, transparent and decentralized ledger

Presearch.org Rewards
Providing searchers and referrers with PRE token rewards when they search and share

Presearch Keyword Staking Platform
Advertising platform that enables PRE holders to secure free traffic by staking their PRE against the keywords of their choice

Presearch Marketplace
The place to buy PRE tokens directly from the project using Bitcoin, Ethereum, CAD and USD

Reward Verification System
This anti-abuse system mitigates the effect of those trying to game the system to gain tokens

Browser Extensions
The Presearch browser extension for Chrome, Firefox and Brave makes it much faster and easier to search and get paid

Mobile Apps for iOS and Android
These mobile apps offer experiments in user experience to unlock the next innovation in mobile search

Community Packages
Community packages are open source and member-contributed. They are designed to provide a summary view of a given keyword’s information. For example, the crypto info here: https://dsearch.com/search?q=bitcoin

Presearch vs. Dsearch
Presearch is the reward layer of the search platform while Dsearch is an independent search engine within Presearch that currently offers double PRE tokens when you search with it

Referral Program
The referral program enables any Presearch user to earn extra PRE tokens when they refer new active members to the platform

Presearch Store
The Presearch store contains merchandise, service fees and application fees denominated and transacted in PRE

A pool of 400,000 PRE will be evenly split between all qualified traders with a net buying volume (buys - sells - withdrawal) of at least 1,500 PRE over the course of the competition period.

Reward for each qualified KuCoin and Presearch User = 400,000 PRE / Total number of qualifiers

Dear Presearchers,

Today (Tuesday, June 30th, 2020) we are very excited to make a major announcement!

As of today, Trey Grainger, former SVP of Engineering at a top open source search firm, joins Presearch as our new CTO.

Trey's first priorities include delivering and executing on a new project roadmap, releasing a renewed white paper, and working towards the release of our own search nodes, while further improving all current products.

Take a moment to read through the official Medium announcement, in which we further explain his role and experience in detail: https://medium.com/@presearch/leading-search-expert-joins-presearch-as-cto-2eb306901e0f

We will also hold a community AMA in July, in which Trey will answer all your burning questions. More information on this will follow.

July Update: New White Paper, Search Nodes and AMAs

With the recent announcement that open source search expert Trey Grainger has joined Presearch as CTO, we are excited to deliver some long-awaited updates to the Presearch community.

New White Paper
Many of you have asked about our development roadmap and a white paper refresh, and we’ve been planning to release an update since back in February / March.

Covid threw a bit of a wrench into our March plans causing some delays, and then a couple of very positive developments caused us to delay further when we had a breakthrough with search nodes that we realized could drastically alter our timelines, and then we started speaking with Trey and realized there may be an opportunity to have him join us as CTO.

Now that Trey is on board and internal alpha testing of search nodes have been successful, we’re ready to formally commit to a roadmap and white paper release date of July 31st.

Please keep an eye out for periodic updates between now and then. We’re really excited to share our vision for the future of Presearch in more detail, and to build the features and systems we need to realize the potential of a decentralized, blockchain-powered, community-driven search engine.

Search Nodes

As mentioned, we’ve made some solid progress on developing the first version of our new Search Nodes software that will enable people to install and host a node that returns search results for user queries.

An internal alpha version has been in testing for the past month, and it has met and exceeded our expectations for result quality and user experience.

We are now working on the security / proxy layer, token economics and a release plan and will communicate more about the platform throughout the month leading up to the release of the new white paper.

Ask Me Anythings (AMAs)

We are excited to announce that Presearch founder, Colin Pape, will be participating in an AMA session on Friday, July 3rd with the KuCoin community.

New CTO, Trey Grainger, is also preparing to host an AMA with the Presearch community as well. Details to follow in a separate post.

It’s shaping up to be a very busy summer for the Presearch Team and we are really thrilled to share more information with you as we can.

Presearch Nodes Are Coming

In our July update, we provided a first public teaser of what is one of the most exciting developments for the Presearch platform this year: the release of our decentralized Presearch Nodes. We promised we’d share more details on the Presearch Nodes in the lead up to the release of our new white paper on July 31st, so without further ado: we’d like to introduce the world to Presearch Nodes!

The Presearch platform has always been planned in phases, with the first phase focused on providing a useful search interface, growing the Presearch community and user base, and ultimately implementing our unique keyword-staking-based advertising model. The end goal has always been to build out a decentralized search engine, and under the leadership of our new CTO, we are now excited to be well on the way toward this next phase of the platform.

Search engines are complicated, and building a decentralized search engine provides some very unique challenges that don’t apply to centralized search engines. For example: How do you prevent malicious actors from running nodes and either stealing user information or returning dangerous or unwanted content? How do you get fast (hundreds of milliseconds) response times across a massively distributed network of servers with drastic variability in their performance and reliability? How do you properly incentivize people to run nodes and fairly balance supply and demand for nodes and searches within the network? Some of these we’ve already solved, and some will require continued experimentation and innovation over time, but we’ll be rolling out both the platform and the decentralization of the platform incrementally to ensure an optimal ongoing search experience for our amazing Presearch community.

Search Architecture

For our initial phase two platform release, there are six core layers of the Presearch search engine architecture:

Core Services: Advertising service, Account management, Search Rewards Tracking, Keyword Staking, Marketplace, and other critical Presearch services which are centrally managed by Presearch.

Web Server: Receives Search Requests from Presearch users and passes them on to the Gateway to get results. Returns a final rendered results page to the user.

Node Registry: Manages the identity of all Nodes, their stats, and any rewards payouts to the Node operators

Node Gateway: Receives requests from the Web Server, removes personally identifiable information from the search, requests and passes the search to one or more healthy Nodes

Nodes: Decentralized search “workers” which connect to the node gateway and perform search operations.

Search Packages: Open source plugins which bring back intelligent answers and info boxes for specific queries.

Our first phase of decentralization will be the release of the Nodes software, which anyone can run and for which we’ll need to build out an expansive and highly decentralized network.

The Gateway is intended to be decentralized in a future phase after the core search network has proven to be robust and secure. Gateway operators will eventually be a smaller network of trusted providers that the Presearch community can choose from (they would have access to and need to protect some private user information). For now, Presearch will operate as a single, trusted Gateway provider while the network is being built out. More and more of the platform will be decentralized over time as the project continues to evolve. The availability of the Nodes in this first software release will already enable the vast majority of the work performed during each search to be decentralized.

Node Operations

Node operators will ultimately be compensated in PRE for the work they provide to the network based upon the amount of value they add to the network. There are at least seven different kinds of operations that a Search Node can perform (with more likely in the future):

1. Registering (all nodes). Registering with a Node Gateway, which can then route queries to the node if it passes health and security validation.

2. Validating (all nodes). The Node will coordinate with a Node Validator to ensure that each node is only running trusted Presearch software (to avoid security issues from potential bad actors).

3. Aggregating. Processing and distributing queries sent by Node Gateways. This may require routing to multiple “Serving” Nodes and aggregating the results.

4. Federating. Proxying other data sources and returning their data as part of search results.

5. Serving. Hosting portions of the search index used to process queries.

6. Crawling. Crawling websites to build out search indexes.

7. Indexing. Writes federated or crawled data to search indexes to be served by serving Nodes.

Different kinds of servers will work better for running different Nodes for these different use cases. For example:

- Aggregating will work best on nodes with: low network latency, high network bandwidth, high memory (disk space unimportant, CPU useful, but can vary).

- Federating will work best on nodes with: low networking latency (cpu, memory, and disk space unimportant. High bandwidth preferred).

- Serving will work best on nodes with: high memory, high uptime, and low network latency (CPU and disk space useful, but can vary).

- Crawling will work best on nodes with: high disk space, high network bandwidth (CPU, memory, network latency, and uptime unimportant).

- Indexing will work best on nodes with: high disk space, high network bandwidth, low network latency, and reasonable CPU, memory, and uptime.

What’s in this First Release?

For the very first release of the Nodes, we will be focused on the following operations:
- Registering
- Validating
- Federating

This means that we will initially be aiming for a network of as many nodes as possible, provided as cheaply as possible, so long as their network latency is low. When we later add in Serving and Aggregating (enabling the Presearch search index to be decentralized), this will introduce the need for different and more powerful servers to join the network. When our Crawling becomes fully decentralized and supported by Nodes, the capacity of the network to crawl the web and refresh data will then be tied directly to the size of the network and its growth.

When will Nodes be Ready?

We are excited to announce that we are only months away from the public release of the Presearch Nodes software! We have a number of other announcements coming between now and then, including an updated explanation of the evolving Tokenomics of the project and how rewards for running Nodes, performing searches, and other activity will evolve over time.

In the meantime, we are excited to announce a Beta Testing program for our Presearch Nodes. We are not ready to begin beta testing just yet, but we are now opening sign-ups for those interested in helping us test and improve our Nodes software on a testnet prior to the mainnet launch. If you are interested in being a beta tester, you can request to be included using the following signup link:

The Presearch team is excited to announce that the second version of our white paper is ready for download!

After months and weeks of meetings, debates, tests, trials and tribulations, it’s finally here!

The new Presearch white paper shall now be known as our Vision Paper (VP). We figured that with 2020 off to such a crazy start, we need better 2020 vision as we look to the future.

The VP weighs in at a hefty 65 pages. There’s a lot to this project — with all of our progress to date, and with what’s to come in the future — we didn’t want to skimp on the details just to save a few bits in the cloud.

We hope you find the Vision Paper informative and as exciting as we do! Presearch has a massive opportunity right before us, and this document is a great introduction to the project and a roadmap for how we’re going to realize our potential.

Although it was a lot of work to produce, the process was a real pleasure and great team-building exercise. I must say, we work very well together and there’s a ton of talent in this small group.

A big thank you to everyone who contributed to the document, specifically Amber, Trey, Tim, Ed, Marco, Dave, Corey & Thomas. But also, a huge thank
you to all of our supporters, friends, critics and HODLers for their input, inspiration and sometimes patience that’s enabled us to get to this point.

2020 is off to a crazy start, but we can still have a good finish with the right vision.

Without further adieu, please find the New 2020 Presearch Vision Paper: https://www.presearch.io/vision.pdf

New Ad Flagging System Released

The Presearch Team is excited to announce that we’ve deployed the new ad flagging system, as outlined in our revised roadmap and Vision Paper.

This new system enables people searching on Presearch.org to flag low-quality or inappropriate ads placed using our innovative keyword staking platform. This enables community-driven feedback that improves ad quality and provides transparency into the process of improving ads for both advertisers and Presearch users themselves.

Since launching keyword staking in January of 2020, more than 65 million PRE have been staked against thousands of keywords.

While there have been limited incidences of abuse within the system, there is a growing opportunity for those wanting to reach the 1.5 million registered Presearch users to place deceptive ads or otherwise degrade the search experience with low-quality ads.

Fortunately, the staking model already provides a deterrent to people behaving maliciously, as they could lose their staked tokens if they are found to be causing harm to the community.

But to address more common occurrences of advertisers who are unaware of the guidelines, or who have different ideas about what constitutes a quality ad, we’ve created this new ad flagging system that community members can use to alert the project about potential issues with ads.

To use the system, just click the green flag icon within the ad and then fill out the corresponding form to let us know what potential issues you have may have found.

Project administrators then have the option to either pause the ad and request changes, delete the ad (if there is a serious violation of the ad policies), or let it stand as-is.

The person who submits the report will be notified via email about the actions taken, as will the advertiser, providing end-to-end transparency into the review process.

Eventually, we plan to further decentralize this process and enable ad reporters to stake PRE to submit a report, earning a bounty if their report turns out to be legitimate as determined by an open community voting process.

In the meantime, this new ad flagging system should help maintain ad quality and ensure that Presearchers are protected from bad actors looking to take advantage of the keyword staking platform.

Thanks to the Presearch #DevelopmentTeam  for launching this first feature of many to come from our recently published product roadmap. If you’d like to see the full roadmap and timeline for all our upcoming product updates, please check out the recently-published Presearch Vision Paper.

Integrated Search Experience and Rewards Evolution - Part I

In preparation for the launch of the new decentralized nodes-based Presearch Engine in Q4 of this year, we’re making some changes to the Presearch user experience in September, as announced in our recently published Vision Paper.

UX Refresh — New Integrated Search Experience

The first update, which will go live on August 31st, is a new integrated search experience on Dsearch, Presearch’s current default search results provider.

These changes will bring a tighter integration between the Presearch platform and the default search results page (currently powered by Dsearch). With this update, you will now be able to see your login status and PRE rewards balance directly on the Dsearch search results page. Your personal list of search providers (previously only available on the presearch.org home page) will now also be incorporated into the Dsearch results page for much more convenient navigation between search providers.

These providers will be displayed down the left side of the screen beneath the logo on desktop browsers, and across the top below the search bar on mobile devices.

This enables you to easily run your search using another provider if you don’t initially find what you’re looking for within the default search results. With just one click, you can now quickly re-run your query on Google, YouTube, or any of your other favorite search engines!

These improvements to the user experience will set the stage for the next changes we’re making to begin improving the project’s tokenomics.

Integrated Search Experience and Rewards Evolution - Part II

Changing the Default to Dsearch

Throughout the month of September, we will migrate all users over to Dsearch as their default search provider. If you are using Google currently as your default search engine, for example, your new default search results will come from Dsearch, though you can now click on any icon in your search providers bar on the results page to easily change the search engine on a per-query basis.

As discussed in the Presearch Vision Paper, with Presearch entering Phase II of the project, the focus is on creating sustainability and decentralization. A core part of the decentralization focus is giving users a privacy-protecting decentralized search engine (see our previous post on the upcoming search nodes release), but the other part is incentivizing users to stay on the platform and use the engine, driving stickiness of user experience and increasing advertising revenue to make the tokenomics sustainable.

The immediate result of this change is that instead of less than 10% of searches staying on the Presearch platform and featuring Presearch ads, by the end of September it will be more than 90%! We expect this to significantly increase the number of impressions and ad clicks, making every keyword staked considerably more valuable to our advertisers. We anticipate this to increase the number of advertisers, the amount of PRE staked, and demand for PRE overall.

This also provides an excellent opportunity to expose more users to the Presearch search experience and gather feedback prior to the launch of Presearch nodes.

Then, when the new decentralized nodes-based Presearch Engine launches to the public in Q4 of 2020, the transition will be seamless for users between Dsearch and the new nodes-based Presearch Engine.

Strengthening Token Economics

A significant portion of users are currently using Presearch to search Google, but with the improved Dsearch experience and in preparation for the launch of the new decentralized Presearch Engine, we are paving the way now for the transition and focusing more on improving the project’s already-strong tokenomics.

With Dsearch, there is an opportunity to display Presearch ads powered by the keyword staking platform, as well as to earn fiat revenue via outside ad networks that is reinvested back into the Presearch platform.

As discussed in the Vision Paper, Presearch intends to allocate a percentage of this revenue to purchasing PRE back from existing holders so that it can utilize this inventory to provide future rewards.

And, of course, we need as many eyeballs on the Presearch search results and ads as possible. This transition enables us to accomplish each of these objectives and to begin rolling out additional improvements to tokenomics for the PRE token.
Title: Re: PRESEARCH - Community driven decentralized search

Integrated Search Experience and Rewards Evolution - Part III

Reward Changes

As also described in the Vision Paper, The final part of this transition is to begin paying rewards only for searches run on Presearch’s default engine (currently Dsearch). With Presearch rolling out its own decentralized nodes-based search engine in Q4 and already having its own keyword staking-based advertising platform, it is important that the search rewards Presearch provides are aligned with the value to the community of those searches.

While we believe in choice and are making it easier than ever for users to search on other engines (by now integrating them for the first time directly into the search results page), we are moving towards tying reward payments directly to economic value received, and it simply no longer makes sense for Presearch to be paying PRE to send traffic away to external, competing search engines.

The amount of PRE paid per search on Dsearch will currently remain the same as before, with the intent for the rewards payouts to become more dynamic and directly tied to economic value as we roll out our Tokenomics Engine later in Q4.

Delivering Value Back to the Community

These changes drive value into the Presearch project by having more users leverage the Presearch search results, increasing advertising revenue, and eventually being able to tie PRE rewards to actual value (searches and ad views within the Presearch platform) instead of paying to divert traffic to other sites. Ultimately, this makes the Presearch platform more financially sustainable, increases investment in the decentralized search platform and the quality of search results, and makes the entire search experience more integrated and compelling.

In summary, we are rolling out the following changes:
1. A more integrated search results experience
2. Dsearch as the default search provider
3. Rewards changes to incentivize on-platform searches.

The integrated search results experience will roll out on 8/31, with the remaining changes occurring gradually throughout the month of September, starting on the 1st. Some people will receive the experience right away while others may receive it within days or weeks.

We’re really excited about these improvements and the benefits for searchers and other community members, ahead of the release of Presearch search nodes! These changes have been a long time in the making and we are pleased that we are delivering on our roadmap as promised and providing an even stronger token ecosystem that will benefit all who own PRE.

If you have any feedback about the changes, we welcome you to use the ‘Send Feedback’ link on the menu in the top right corner of Presearch.org.

High ETH gas fees, withdrawal delays, and options moving forward

Dear Presearchers,

Some of you may have noticed a delay in PRE withdrawals recently. We’d like to discuss some of the challenges we are working through as we move toward a solution.

Currently, PRE counts thousands of on-chain token holders. This number has been increasing rapidly as our user base continues to grow, with more than 1.6 million registered users currently.

Every month, we process hundreds of withdrawals for our users. We’ve covered the gas fees for these withdrawals since 2017, which wasn’t a problem as fees were usually around $0.10. However, with the increasing popularity for the Ethereum Network and DeFi projects, fees for ERC-20 token transactions have recently been costing up to $10 per transaction.

As you can imagine, these costs are exorbitant and unsustainable. One hundred transactions now costs $1,000 USD. This is not economically viable for transactions of 1,000 PRE, as it means we’re paying $10 in transaction fees for $20 worth of tokens (50% fees).

We are constantly monitoring Ethereum gas costs and are taking advantage of any drops in cost to push through outstanding withdrawals. Because this has been a sustained increase recently, however, it’s been challenging to keep up with the queue of withdrawal requests while simultaneously managing timing of transactions to control these volatile costs, and so we’ve built up a bit of a backlog.

We are not the only project to encounter these challenges, and we are all trying to determine the best way to handle these unprecedented costs as they truly wreak havoc with the business models we have established. This is not a 50% or even 500% increase in fees, we are talking about a 5,000% increase in costs.

While we are navigating these challenges, we ask for your patience and are writing to formally communicate that it is not realistic for Presearch to be able to honor the previous 72 hour withdrawal expectation until we establish a new path forward, which may include one or more of the following:
- A return to average gas fees (somewhere in the $0.25 — $0.50 range) driven by market forces
- Passing along gas costs to those requesting withdrawals (either in whole or in part)
- Implementing a new blockchain with lower transaction costs
- Batching transactions in a different way to reduce transaction fees — this could include facilitating internal transactions that enable holders to sell / transfer PRE to other holders within the Presearch ecosystem

We realize that this is a major inconvenience for our users, and we apologize sincerely for this situation. The blockchain space is new, and we are all encountering challenges and developing solutions together.

We are actively working through the best way to handle this scenario for the good of the project and all of our stakeholders. If you have any ideas or feedback you’d like to provide as we’re working through solutions, please feel free to reach out, as we appreciate community feedback and always consider it strongly in our decision-making process.

We will make a decision on how best handle this transaction fee challenge by the middle of September, and in the meantime, will push forward — identifying strategic opportunities to process transactions and doing our best to minimize fees while working through the queue of withdrawal requests.

Once again, we apologize for the delays and appreciate your patience and understanding.

Sincerely,
Team Presearch

PRE Withdrawals Update

Massive spikes in gas costs that are paid when transfers are completed have made it uneconomical and downright wasteful to distribute reward payments — it really doesn’t make sense to spend $10 to send $20 worth of rewards.

We are writing today with an update to inform you that we’ve been busy implementing changes to our withdrawal system to minimize the transaction fees paid, and we anticipate that these will be pushed live before the end of September, enabling us to resume withdrawals next week.

Changes we’re working on will help to mitigate the effect of high transaction fees, both those currently experienced as well as those we may encounter in the future. These changes include:

- A new process that monitors ETH gas costs and sends transactions at opportune times when fees are lowest

- The ability to send more transactions, faster, to take advantage of low gas cost opportunities

- Better queuing of transactions to limit complications when gas costs spike and transactions get ‘stuck’

In order to take advantage of these new capabilities, we need the ability to have withdrawals sit ‘in wait’, until target gas costs are reached. This means we can unfortunately no longer commit to reward withdrawals being processed within 72 hours.

Transactions will now go out as soon as possible, but with no set time-frame, as successful transactions are dependent on the load on the Ethereum network and the associated transaction costs.

Those withdrawals that have already been requested but have not yet been fulfilled will go out in the order in which they have been submitted, so there’s no need for anyone waiting on their PRE tokens to do anything.

Your tokens will be sent ASAP, and we will post an update as soon as we begin processing withdrawal requests after we have released our new withdrawal system next week.

Please note that once the new withdrawal system goes live, purchased and deposited tokens will still be processed within the previous 72-hour withdrawal window. This post is specifically addressing rewards withdrawals and not purchased/deposited tokens.

Thank you all sincerely for your patience while we work through this challenge. We appreciate your continued support and belief in Presearch and our mission to build a decentralized search engine.

KuCoin Security Incident and Presearch

Fellow Presearchers,

It has come to our attention that KuCoin, a cryptocurrency marketplace that enables the buying and selling of PRE tokens, has suffered from what appears to be a significant hack and subsequent loss of funds.

Unfortunately, it appears that Presearch tokens were affected, and approximately 26m PRE have been moved from KuCoin’s hot wallets to an outside wallet containing more than $150m worth of tokens from dozens of projects, which KuCoin has requested that we blacklist.

We have been in touch with Probit and HitBTC to request that they halt deposits, withdrawals and the exchange of PRE until this is all sorted out.

It would appear that the best way to handle this situation will be to complete a token swap to roll back the transfer of the stolen PRE. If we decide that this is indeed the best course of action, then any wallets holding PRE that have not interacted with the wallet associated with the theft (https://etherscan.io/token/0x88a3e4f35d64aad41a6d4030ac9afe4356cb84fa?a=0xeb31973e0febf3e3d7058234a5ebbae1ab4b8c23) would be eligible to exchange their current PRE tokens for the new PRE tokens that would be created.

All PRE held within the Presearch.org site or our crowd sale portal and PRE staked on keyword ads would be unaffected by the token swap.

We advise those who hold PRE on exchanges to immediately cease buying and selling PRE until we have a resolution and communication with each exchange in order to be eligible to participate in whatever swaps the exchanges offer to their users.

Please bear with us as we navigate the challenges posed by this situation. We believe that KuCoin has good intentions, though we cannot verify their statements about insurance coverage or the ability to retrieve funds or absorb losses. We are hopeful that they will be able to continue to push forward and that they will be able to make good on the commitments they’ve made to compensate users.

We appreciate your patience and support and will be in regular contact with community members, including another statement on Monday to pass along updates and instructions as they become available.

Dear Presearchers,

Thank you for your support through the KuCoin incident we informed you of on Saturday (https://medium.com/@presearch/kucoin-security-incident-and-presearch-793ea1d1cf2d).

We’d like to keep you updated on what’s happening behind the scenes. To prevent any impact from the stolen funds, all listed PRE exchanges have temporarily disabled deposits/withdrawals. We are also keeping withdrawals from the Presearch platform disabled for now, but you can still deposit PRE to the platform to make full use of your tokens in Keyword Staking.

We are currently undertaking additional steps to further handle the situation. We are in touch with the KuCoin team regularly as we make plans.

More details on what this solution entails will follow tomorrow, please stay tuned.

Have a great day!

Presearch Token Swap Coming

This past week, we wrote to inform you about a hack at the KuCoin cryptocurrency marketplace that resulted in the theft of more than $150m worth of tokens, including 26m Presearch PRE tokens.

In addition to our discussions with Kucoin, we reached out to Probit and HitBTC to notify them of the theft and were successful in halting the deposit of the stolen tokens before the hackers could deposit or sell them, minimizing the damage to the affected users and the project as a whole.

Since then, our team has been busy reviewing available options to restore the stolen PRE to KuCoin users, and we have decided that we will, in fact, move forward with a token swap.

The token swap will take place next week and will happen automatically for all users. All users’ blockchain wallets holding PRE (other than the hacker’s wallet) are currently eligible for the token swap.

Since deposits to exchanges are currently unavailable, our expectation is that the stolen PRE will remain isolated from legitimate users’ PRE transactions, but we cannot guarantee this. As a result, any PRE transactions between now and the token swap will be handled on a case-by-case basis, as any downstream transactions involving the stolen funds will not be eligible for the token swap.

As a precaution, we recommend minimizing any on-blockchain PRE token transfers until after the token swap in order to avoid the possibility of becoming ineligible for the token swap.

Those who hold their PRE on the Presearch.org site as rewards, purchased, or staked tokens will not need to take any action, other than waiting until the swap is complete to withdraw their tokens.

Those who hold their PRE in a blockchain wallet will have the replacement tokens ‘airdropped’ into their wallets at no charge and with no further action required.

We will request that wallet providers and information services point to the new PRE contract automatically so that only a refresh of your balance will be required. You may have to manually point to the new contract in wallets such as Metamask and MyEtherWallet that are populated manually. Instructions on how to do this will follow in a subsequent post.

Those who hold their PRE on KuCoin and Probit will not need to take further action, and once withdrawals are reopened on those services, will be able to redeem their PRE account balances for the replacement tokens.

We are still working to determine how to provide replacement tokens to HitBTC users and will communicate that process as soon as it is decided.

Further instructions will be provided when the swap is completed to ensure all users are able to access their Presearch tokens once they become available.

Until then, we ask for, and appreciate your continued patience and support.

While this unfortunate security incident at KuCoin is an inconvenience for all of us Presearchers, and has forced our team to divert technical and financial resources to address the situation, we believe that the project will come out further ahead after completing the token swap.

The new PRE token smart contract will include additional protection mechanisms to help the project handle future security incidents such as the KuCoin event, and will also enable the Presearch smart contract to better interact with decentralized platforms.

We believe that these upgrades will make the token swap a net positive for the project and strengthen both the protections and functionality for our users, resulting in a brighter future for Presearch and our amazing community.

We will continue to communicate further details around the token swap process as it progresses, and will be undertaking a security audit of the new token early next week, following which the replacement PRE will be distributed. We anticipate that the token swap will occur within 7 days of this announcement, and will keep you posted with progress updates.

Please keep an eye on our Twitter account at https://twitter.com/presearchnews and on our Telegram channel at https://t.me/presearchnews.

Should you have any questions, please post them in our community Telegram group found at https://t.me/presearch or send an email to [email protected].

Thanks again for your support as we overcome this challenge and ensure that Presearch is well-positioned for the level of success we all aspire to and expect.

We are excited to wrap up the token swap as soon as possible and continue executing on our roadmap and the deployment of Presearch nodes and our new search experience.

Onward and upward!

Presearch Nodes Beta Testing Begins!

Several of our team members and community supporters are now running nodes and have been using the new Presearch Engine search experience since the beta launch last week. The initial feedback from our beta testers has been extremely positive. It was found the nodes are extremely easy to set up!

This closed beta release is the first step toward a public beta and ultimate launch of the search nodes and new Presearch Engine later in Q4.

We can’t wait to release this new platform to the world, and we believe that this is going to significantly improve the Presearch search experience, enabling us to begin aggressively targeting user growth.

Presearch Year End Update

Hey Presearcher!

So… 2020, eh? What a crazy year.

None of us could have anticipated what 2020 would bring — social media induced-panic, economic destruction, riots, lock downs, international travel bans… It’s pretty shocking just to write this.

And yet, from amidst the covid chaos, it’s been a solid year overall for Presearch, and the conditions for mass adoption of crypto and Big Tech alternatives couldn’t be much better.

Wake up, Neo!

More people are taking the red pill and waking up to the fact that our current economic model is completely broken — rampant money printing, unprecedented government interference in business, massive deficits that can never be repaid and a future of fiat stagflation.

Trust in Google, Facebook and Big Tech has been shaken, with levels of censorship (aka ‘fact checking’), deplatforming, and algorithmically-sown discord that seemed impossible just 12 months ago.

It truly is a different world, and many powerful forces are working hard to ensure this remains ‘the new normal’. Unfortunately, the price is being paid with our personal freedoms, future tax increases, shuttered small businesses and the debasement of our currencies.

For many, these are confusing and scary times. It’s hard not to worry when so much change has happened so fast, based on unclear or conflicting information, with no accountability or seeming plan to minimize negative consequences.

There’s a lot of ‘trust us’ coming from people who don’t seem to have humanity’s best interests at heart, and it’s super polarizing for those who just trust blindly and those who are questioning the official narratives and actions.

Blockchain to the rescue!

Fortunately, these are the exact times that blockchain technology thrives in, as you don’t just have to ‘trust’, you can verify data yourself on an open ledger.

That is partly why Bitcoin investment returns are outpacing all other asset classes, eventually dragging the rest of the crypto space along with it.

Presearch is in an amazing position as the world’s leading blockchain-based search engine.

Presearch, now with 100% more decentralization!

And with the public launch of our new decentralized Presearch Engine powered by user nodes around the corner on January 28th, we’re ready to provide the world with a true alternative to the Google monopoly, driving serious demand for Presearch PRE tokens in the process.

The past three years have been dedicated to building. Building our team. Building infrastructure. Building community.

We’ve been testing our assumptions, making course corrections where necessary, and always marching forward.

The result of all this effort is an actual working decentralized search ecosystem powered by PRE tokens. 😀👍

Bring on 2021!

We are so excited to spread the word about Presearch in 2021!

Our timing is impeccable. Our technology is in place. Our marketing plan is ready to be implemented and take Presearch to the next level, bringing millions of new users into the ecosystem and adding massive value to the keyword staking platform and PRE tokens in the process.

No matter what 2021 sends our way, we will make the most of our opportunities for growth and are grateful for everyone’s support in us getting to this point.

The Presearch Team and I wish you a Happy New Year and a free and prosperous year ahead.

Thank you for your support in 2020 and for enabling us to build a better search engine for We The People!

Dear Presearchers,

We are happy to announce that the initial free keyword staking traffic period has been extended until at least June 30th, 2021!

With more than 65 million PRE staked, the initial usage of the keyword staking platform has exceeded our expectations.

Now that we are preparing to release the new Presearch decentralized search engine on January 28th, it makes sense to continue to extend the initial one-year free traffic offer we made.

Hi Presearchers!

The launch of the new node-powered decentralized search engine is just around the corner!

The new engine offers search results that are as good as the world’s top centralized search engines.

The team has been working with an awesome group of beta testers to identify and resolve issues, and the new decentralized search engine is just about ready to go live!

Presearch is entering a phase of mass marketing and awareness, and we have many initiatives lined up over the next couple of months, including improvements to our referral program, new promotions, outreach to our 1.7 million registered users, AMAs and interviews, YouTube features, paid advertising and several growth hacks that we’re excited about.

Admissions to the beta testing program are now closed. We thank everyone for their interest and feedback. It is much appreciated! Those still interested are welcome to start using the engine or run a node once publicly launched.

Over the course of the past few weeks, our team has shared the feedback form through our social channels and email list.

This morning, a snapshot was taken of all participants who filled out this form to provide us with their issues, ideas and feedback.

Those who filled out the form will be credited 500 PRE each to their account later this week as a token of our gratitude. 🙏

Stay tuned for more events and information in the coming weeks. 👍

Thanks for your support!

New Decentralized Search Engine Goes Live!

We are excited to announce that the new Presearch node-powered, decentralized search engine is now live!

You can access directly it via https://engine.presearch.org

The Rollout Plan

We are slowly rolling the platform out to all users and transitioning people from Dsearch to Presearch Engine as the default engine over the course of the next two weeks, so if you do not have it set as your default yet, please bear with us.

Or, if you’d like to manually set the Presearch Engine as your default, you can do so under your search providers section, here: https://www.presearch.org/account/homepage-providers

On that screen, search for ‘Presearch Engine’ in the ‘Filter Providers’ field, and then choose the large P_ icon by clicking on it to add it to the row above, and drag the icon all the way to the left.

The next time you search, it will take you to the new Presearch Engine.

What’s Different?

The new search experience is powered by the new node platform, with the first batch of nodes being run centrally by Presearch while we wrap up beta testing of independent user nodes.

More Private

The new engine protects your privacy by preventing any node from accessing and passing along your information, such as your IP address, your device and browser details as well your location.

There is a new local search option (the globe icon in the search field on the search results page) that you can turn on and off, which will use your IP address to determine your general region to use for providing more accurate results when searching for local businesses and information.

When you use this feature, your IP address will only be utilized internally by Presearch to do the region reverse-lookup, and will not be stored or exposed outside of Presearch.

More Accurate

You’ll notice that the search results returned are now more accurate than on Dsearch, especially when it comes to searching for more recent content that may have just been created.

During beta testing, it was reported that most users could now use Presearch for all of their searches, instead of having to use external engines for certain queries where results were not as relevant.

More Engaging and Less Clutter

The biggest difference visually is that the new search results page now incorporates rich content such as photos, videos and news stories directly in the results, as well related information to your query to suggest other things to search for as you are Presearching your keyword.

One of the biggest complaints we received about the Dsearch experience was that there were too many ads on the page and that organic content was pushed too far down. The new engine has less ads and you’ll notice that you don’t need to scroll anymore to get to the results you want.

Faster

Last but certainly not least, most users will find that the new engine results are returned faster than the Dsearch results. There may still be a difference in the speed of results returned versus Google and other engines, but testers reported that it was largely imperceptible, and recognized that, like using a VPN, there may be some slight latency due to the delay introduced by the decentralized nodes.

Overall, the new results are both faster and more reliable than the previous version, with results being returned more quickly and completely than before.

Thank you!
We’d like to send a huge thank you to the #DevelopmentTeam  for shipping this transformative release on schedule, and to all of the beta testers who’ve helped to improve the platform over the past few months ahead of launch.

The Next Phase

The release of the new search engine marks the beginning of the next phase of the project — mass marketing and mass adoption — with the goal of 10 million users by the end of 2021.

Two new marketers are joining our team next week to help us achieve this growth, and we plan to scale up the team significantly in the coming weeks and months.

Going into February, we have a ton of events planned — releasing new node management tools that will enable the new engine to be powered by the user nodes currently in beta testing in the testnet, promotions at KuCoin, YouTuber video coverage, paid ads on Quora, continuous press coverage — it’s going to be BUSY moving forward!

We’ve been waiting for this day for months — the shift to major growth on all fronts — increased usage, growing token utility and value, more awareness in the crypto space and the ‘outside world’.

We couldn’t be more thrilled and excited to finally demonstrate what Presearch is capable of.

Buckle in and get ready for liftoff in 3, 2, 1!

Dear Presearchers,

We’re excited to announce we are reopening beta access to user nodes

Users who are not yet approved are no longer redirected back to the home page when trying to access the node dashboard (https://nodes.presearch.org/dashboard). These users are now redirected to the beta access Typeform (https://presearchcommunity.typeform.com/to/UkDumktm).

To start running a node on the testnet:
 1) Join @PresearchNodes on the telegram
 2) Fill out the Typeform (https://presearchcommunity.typeform.com/to/UkDumktm)

Our team approves new beta users every 24 hours.

Our developers are working around the clock to migrate testnet nodes to the main net, to ultimately enable anyone to run a node and power the Presearch Engine.

Stay tuned for more information on mainnet and node rewards.

Thank you for the continued support! ♥️

Dear Presearchers,

The weekly statistics are here! What a week!

Over the course of the past seven days, Presearch welcomed over 100,000 new users to the search engine. We now count close to 2,000,000 total registered users ‼️

As a result, traffic continues to grow rapidly. This past week, we counted OVER 1,000,000 DAILY search queries. Versus the previous 10,000,000/month queries we saw the past couple of months.

These numbers are very promising, and we are more excited than ever about all the development that is happening and the marketing activities that are to come!

Have a great day,

Presearch Tokenomics Engine Going Live!

Presearch is excited to announce that, as per our roadmap, the project will transition to version 1.0 of our new Tokenomics Engine on Monday, February 22nd.

This marks the beginning of a new phase where search rewards are no longer pegged at a fixed rate of 0.25 PRE per search, and will be variable-rate, based on system-wide inputs such as number of searches, advertising revenue, node operator rewards and other factors.
Starting Monday, reward rates will now be automatically adjusted each day to balance the overall tokenomics of the Presearch platform on an ongoing basis.

Node operator rewards

If you’ve been following our recent news, you’ll know that we just achieved a major milestone in launching our new node-powered search engine at the end of January. Anyone can run a Presearch node on their own computing resources to help power Presearch’s decentralized search engine, and they will soon receive rewards to compensate them for providing that computing capacity. Just as the Tokenomics Engine will now dynamically adjust search rewards based upon supply and demand (of nodes, users, searches, etc.) to meet the needs of the network, it will also be used to power dynamic calculation of Node Rewards for node operators, which will be released by the end of February.

Search staking

Looking forward, another concept we are currently exploring is search staking, which would be a way to enable Presearchers to stake PRE tokens in order to increase their rewards earned while searching. There may be different levels of staking available with multiple reward rates to match. In this way, Presearchers are incentivized at a higher rate for long term usage of the platform, better aligning rewards toward those adding the most long term value to the network.

We are very excited about the potential to leverage staking to overcome some of the challenges posed by people and bots looking to game the rewards system. This could enable us to eliminate or at least minimize the use of the rewards verification system (RVS).

Building a sustainable ecosystem

The overarching goal with this shift to more of a ‘value for value’ model is to ensure that the project is economically sustainable and that rewards are distributed fairly in a way that recognizes the value of all the participants within the Presearch decentralized search ecosystem.

With the price of PRE having recently increased by more than 300%, this has expedited the priority of the Tokenomics Engine rollout to ensure all rewards (search rewards, node operator rewards, and traffic value for keyword operators) are always kept in balance going forward.

As we laid out back in August of 2020, it has been a multi-stage transition to get to this point, with several other releases preceding the rollout of the new Tokenomics Engine, which now positions the project to scale toward tens of millions of users as we begin our marketing push.

Thank you for your support as we undertake the next leg of the journey, and please know that we are listening to your feedback and that the model is a work in progress and will continue to evolve over time.

Fellow Presearchers!

The new Tokenomics Engine has gone live as of 12:00am UTC / 7pm EST on February 23rd.

This alpha version is a work in progress as we build and tune our formulas to calculate the daily rate paid for rewards.

Each time the rate changes, we will post an update in this channel with the date and time that the new rate takes effect.

The rate will be evaluated and set each day. It may not change every time it is set though, so we may only post updates when the rate changes.

The rate can go both up and down. There may be 'bonus days' where the rate is higher than usual. Stay tuned to https://t.me/presearchnews for information on search rewards.

The current rate as of 12:00am UTC on February 23rd is 0.1 PRE/search up to 32 searches per day.
The current rate as of 12:00am UTC on February 24rd is 0.12 PRE/search up to 32 searches per day.

The transition to the dynamic rewards model is a work in progress, and we appreciate your patience and support as we fine tune it and work through any issues.

Have a great day!

Team Presearch

Presearch is a good browser and it works fast just like chrome. Unfortunately, I gave up using this browser because it takes a lot of time to reach the minimum withdrawal amount. If they can work on this, and put at least 300 PRE as a minimum it would be easier and they'll get more users just like Brave.

It is not all about the rewards. PreSearch is decentralized, so without sharing any info to the 3rd parties.

btw. The current rate as of 12:00am UTC on February 25th is 0.13 PRE/search up to 32 searches per day.

The current rate as of 12:00am UTC on February 27th is 0.12 PRE/search up to 40 searches per day.

The current rate as of 12:00am UTC on March 1st is 0.13 PRE/search up to 35 searches per day.

The current rate as of 12:00am UTC on March 10th is 0.12 PRE/search up to 30 searches per day.

Presearch + WordProof!

Today, we’re excited to announce our partnership with WordProof to bring timestamped search results to Presearch.

As the first search engine in the world to integrate WordProof’s universal blockchain-based timestamping system, Presearch will soon be able to show you when information was last edited or updated. We believe this will go a long way toward improving trust and transparency on the web.

By integrating WordProof, we’re able to facilitate more transparent, informative search results on Presearch to our 2 million+ registered users.
