Title: How Altcoins Failed To Win Over Bitcoin
Post by: Paglamon on May 20, 2020, 01:02:31 PM
It has been decades now since the Bitcoin became a popular name in the world of cryptocurrency. However, it had a slow start but eventually became a global crypto coin. All Kudos to its developer and founder, Satoshi Nakamoto who planned a whitepaper featuring the benefits that made it welcomed by people for trading. Bitcoin is the foremost crypto coin by which people came to know about cryptocurrency. They had hardly expected any technology that would become an alternative to the traditional currencies that they have been using until now. Not only it achieved worldwide fame, but it also paved the way for other alternate currencies which are known as ‘altcoins’. But despite maximum numbers, these altcoins failed to win over Bitcoin. Now, what are the reasons behind this failure? Let us know from this article.

Bitcoin is the first cryptocurrency. The first thing is always honored and remembered than the following. Other coins if want to win over bitcoin, need serious advantages: breakthrough developments and real usages. Bitcoin is kind of old and its community is too reserved from adapting new technology. Also, real usages is something that it's lack of. Even an altcoin with breakthrough developments and real usages, it's gonna take time to surpass bitcoin.

I see no reason why altcoins should beat Bitcoin. In addition, to win in what? In terms of functionality, many altcoins have already bypassed bitcoin. If you look at price and capitalization, this is not the main thing and is temporary. Altcoins complement bitcoin and develop cryptocurrency. This path is complex and controversial, however, cryptocurrency is nevertheless rapidly developing and this is the most important thing.

Altcoins surpasses bitcoin for what?
To take the highest rank or just for historical purpose?
Let's pretend there was altcoin dominated bitcoin spot then what's next platform. Really I couldn't visualize any altcoins posses bitcoin legitimacy and value. If that will going to happen everything will change from expensive value to affordable, from leader to follower, from valuable to secondary choice. Holders will trade btc thinking for exchange to the number one altcoin. The world will be shock! New adjustment to implement.
So many things affected in case btc defeated.
The impact could be drastic.

Truth remains that no matter how altcoins try and try, it cannot win over bitcoin, bitcoin has been designated to be king forever and there is no changing that narratives.

The transaction fees may be high today, but bitcoin will continue to boss it.

Indeed altcoins won't overtake Bitcoin since Bitcoin is like the main coin in crypto space. It is like the mother coin of altcoins, so there is no altcoins to have a chance to beat Bitcoin. I doubt if there will be altcoins to overtake Bitcoin in the future as we can see no altcoins to compete Bitcoin till now.

There is only one bitcoin but thousands of altcoins. Bitcoin is king. If someone wants to be the king, he needs to out stands other people first. There's a fact that the differences between various altcoins are small. That said, no altcoin can really beat the others. How can they beat bitcoin?

We do not need any competition between bitcoin and altcoins. Let cryptocurrency develop and complement each other. Bitcoin also needs to improve, otherwise it will lose its current position. There will be nothing stable in the world of cryptocurrency. All kings have always given way to a new and more perfect one.

Obviously, Bitcoin started first 10years ago and altcoins followed in a bid to provide alternatives or  answers to the various shortcoming of Bitcoin, while some altcoins also came to addressing other crypto related issues beside Bitcoin ideas.

Altcoins, in my opinion will not top Bitcoin because the whole ideas of cryptocurrency and the blockchian was discover through the Bitcoin ideas.

Yep, I agree with this statement. No chance for altcoins to overtake Bitcoin since altcoins just followed Bitcoin. Look at the adoption, Bitcoin is the first coin to be adopted and bring the biggest influence in crypto space. From this matter, we know that Bitcoin is always as the number one.

The obvious reason was, Bitcoin as the pioneering cryptocurrency has a large number of investors and Hodlers, and also the BTC price was high enough to catch up compared to other altcoins, But in terms of innovation and technology, I believe that Bitcoin was behind from other altcoins.

The reason bitcoin remains the top cryptocurrency is because it is the provides the foundation on which other cryptocurencies was defined. it is been said that bitcoin can do practically everything the rest are doing. it is not even possible for altcoins to overtake the bitcoin. i think that will not happen. bitcoin has dominated for along time before altcoin came up.

It is undeniable that the popularity of Bitcoin is also due to the large number of Altcoins that is developing very rapidly almost all over the world. But why Altcoin can't be like Bitcoin, of course this is because Bitcoin is the first Cryptocurrency to emerge. And everyone who is new to Cryptocurrency must be the first they are looking for is Bitcoin, which is the reason why Bitcoin remains the number one despite the many Altcoins that exist today.

No altcoins can cover the weakness of Bitcoin and even no altcoins have the same or more than with Bitcoin price. As long as no altcoins with that criteria, then should be no competitors for Bitcoin. The number of altcoins indeed more than Bitcoin but I still cannot see any of them have the same or almost the same values as Bitcoin. I assume Bitcoin will be always leading all crypto coins since the chance for a coin to compete Bitcoin is quite small.

One of the reasons altcoins failed to win over Bitcoin is the winning battle with the adoption rate by Bitcoin in comparison to altcoins. These alternate cryptocurrencies must be promising enough to prove their worth in holding the users.

Bitcoin has two things that other altcoins don't have: history and community. Bitcoin is the first coin of blockchain technolody. It was created by the mystery Satoshi. The unknown Satoshi makes bitcoin even more well known with a lot of false investigation and claimings surrounding Satoshi's identity. Being the first coin, bitcoin has built itself a huge network of believers and followers. Other coins still can do the same thing but not as successfully as bitcoin, of course. Some altcoins can get a bigger community in the future but they can't beat bitcoin in term of history. That makes bitcoin unique and unbeatable.

First is talking about the trust on the altcoins. We can see how the value of the altcoins is less enough compared to the BTC. BTC as the first crypto has high value. In addition, the price, the trading volume, and also its utility is also less than what BTC achieves.

Bitcoin has acquired the top position in the crypto market. There are several reasons for this success. Bitcoin is the first invention crypto. People first invested on bitcoin. As the highest amount of investment has already been made on Bitcoin, it has been the safest platform for all. People Its value is higher than any other coin. Its technology is also attracts people to invest. Many countries have permitted bitcoin which is the another cause for making a trust on people. Every exchanges take bitcoin  in the top for trade. For this reason people always invest or make trade bitcoin as a the best and safest coin.

Bitcoin is the king of Cryptocurrency, where altcoin might be able to compete and win against Bitcoin. The Crypto community are certainly aware of which coins are worthy of ownership. And this greatly affects the value of Bitcoin and the large number of Altcoin, the Crypto Community certainly prefer BITCOIN.  This is the reason why of the many altcoins that exist today, none is able to win Bitcoin.

Bitcoin and altcoins have a lot of their unsolved problems and they should better join together to solve them.

Bitcoin is the greatest invention in the world of cryptocurrency. The person who invented it is really a legend. If big CEOs thought like him, then everything would change. Bitcoin did not become popular overnight, it took a long time for Bitcoin to gain popularity. There was a time when a pizza with 3 bitcoins was available. Owners of pizza shops used to accept bitcoin. In this way many companies started accepting bitcoin. The volume of transactions continues to increase. When investors saw that its popularity was increasing day by day, they started investing. Thus many investors were added. And everyone knows the current situation.

Bitcoin did not become a King overnight, it took time and strategies, mining is one of it together with some manipulations by traders off course. I don't think altcoins should be competing with bitcoin as they have different purposes. I believe some altcoin will give bitcoin a run for their money in some years to come. Crypto space is a huge space and many years ahead to see some unveiling of successful altcoins.

Yes, bitcoin took a long time to become popular in cryptocurrency. Its use began on a small scale but eventually became a global cryptocurrency. Most countries have bitcoin transactions. People are using bitcoin wallet to keep their money safe. Fees are low for transactions. It is being transacted very soon. At the moment a lot of money is going to be transacted with privacy. So traders are supporting bitcoin as a bargaining chip. As a result, its popularity is constantly increasing. Lots altcoin is winning over bitcoin. Altcoins do not aim to surpass Bitcoin. They try to improve their functional characteristics, but compete with each other. With bitcoin, it no longer makes sense to compete with its high transaction costs and scalability of seven transactions per second. He is no longer a competitor for them.
Bitcoin is based on people's belief that it will continue to rise in value. If not for this circumstance, he would have lost his leadership long ago.

We all know Bitcoin is the first crypto coin so it is the most popular and it has very limited supply even Bitcoin proves itself several times that it has potential many big businesses said it is a bubble but it is still growing, on the other hand, there are thousands of Altcoins and out of them hardly 100 altcoins are worth to see but we can say Ethereum and BNB is a good contender of bitcoin but they both are very far from Btc value. Generally, we all know cryptos just because of Bitcoin whenever you speak to a common man they always said bitcoin they don't name the altcoins but people know crypto by the name of Bitcoin it's a fact, and one can not deny this so trust for BTC is much much higher. Some of the Altcoins are good to invest as much as Btc but altcoins are also booming parallelly to bitcoin but people remember cryptos by the name of BTC.

On the contrary, the market will become more mature and will not imitate the price movements of a certain cryptocurrency, as it is happening now. Alts overcoming Bitcoin should be in a more clearly elucidated scenario, if it's based on price or utility? Whatever the case may be, the concern should be based on utility and offerings of the said altcoin. More openness to coins with utility and core values should be the focus. A coin like Bitay coin which is launching soon. The utility token for Bitay exchange a leading cryptocurrency exchange in Turkey with over 700k KYC users already. 2022 would offer so much for the Alt market. Let's say the alts season is in foresight...

Actually there are some Altcoins that have a high price like Bitcoin. But when it comes to market capitalization, Bitcoin is number one and it's impossible to beat. The competition between Bitcoin and Altcoin will indeed be unbalanced, but we can choose Altcoins to make a profit. Because many Altcoins have experienced a greater increase in price when compared to the increase in the price of Bitcoin.

How did you judge its failure or success? A project market cap is not exceeding the market cap of bitcoin doesn't mean it has failed. Btc hold most of the liquidity because its the very first crypto that ever build and people trust it. There are other altcoin that's price is lower than btc but its usecase is better than BTC and its rate of return is also higher in some points.

If bitcoin disappears for some reason, I see no reason why altcoins should also disappear. There will simply be a redistribution of influence in the cryptocurrency market and everything will work the same as before.
I see too much emphasis on the fact that the supply of bitcoin is capped at 21 million and that every four years there will be a halving of rewards to miners for their work. General laws, including financial ones, will work in this case too. Therefore, I do not expect too high a price of bitcoin. There will be many factors at work in interaction that will not allow bitcoin to rise too high and for a long time in price.

Bitcoin being the alpha coin, has a huge community followership and base. Plus, it wouldn't hurt to have the CEO of one of the biggest social media platform have a hard on for it

Yeah, I think bitcoin is the King of crypto currency because bitcoin is the pioneer of crypto currency.
Not easy to beat bitcoin market cap.
But If you talking about use case, yeah there are many altcoins are doing better than bitcoin.
But about popularity, bitcoin is still the first.

I think if that were the case, Altcoins should be able to hold their own without the constant influence of Bitcoins price action which I don't see presently. If for any reason Bitcoin were to crash, trust me Altcoins will follow no question because of the assumption that Bitcoin the ultimate cryptocurrency can crash for whatever reason, then Alts can't be different.

It's not easy mate, bitcoin price will always influence altcoins.
Because bitcoin is the King of crypto currency.
when bitcoin crashes, altcoins will crash too.
I don't think altcoins will exist without bitcoin, because the people know crypto because bitcoin,
they didn't know altcoins, just bitcoin.

As you said, people didn't know altcoin, but know bitcoin.
Bitcoin is most popular than other crypto because bitcoin is the pioneer of crypto currency.
I also don't think there is potential altcoin will beat bitcoin.
But let see, I think we will see potential altcoin will compete to bitcoin at the coming years.

The truth is that altcoins will never surprass BTC. BTC is the king of crypto. Although many project claims that their technology is better and much more promising and real than BTC, in fact they cannot prove that they are better. Btc still on the top

Yeah, altcoin will never surpass bitcoin, Bitcoin is still.stromg and most popular than altcoin.
Altcoin is better at technology but not for popularity.

I ever ask my friend about crypto, they answer crypto is bitcoin.
Yeah, bitcoin is the King of crypto currency and not easy to beat bitcoin at the next few years.

I see bitcoin moving to another level in crypto in the next bull market. The scarcity will increase as the 61% remains unmovable, also bitcoin may not produce more than 10X price pump in a bull market, so most investors will be unattractive and will be looking elsewhere.

The higher the price of bitcoins, the more difficult it will be for it to rise further. Therefore, in all likelihood, at the current high prices, we will not see such an increase in the price of bitcoin at times as it was before. Because of this, the popularity of bitcoin will inevitably fall, as it will not be able to provide the previous level of profitability to its holders.
Altcoins just need more time to beat Bitcoin.

If most investors will be unattractive and will be looking elsewhere. i think It will good for altcoin.
Altcoin will be other chance of investor beside bitcoin.
Bitcoin is most popular, But altcoins are more profitable for investment, because The price is still low.
Choose the potential coins, you will gain big profit, maybe 10x profit

If these altcoins live longer, they must be strong in coin development so that the utility of these coins can be used every day and continue to spin the coin in the cryptocurrency space.
There are so many altcoins that are present and then just die and are left behind by the #DevelopmentTeam , so I'm also sure that these altcoins are not fully capable of entering the top 100 Coinmarektcap.

Talking about potential alcoin and survive until now, I agree the top 100 coins are the proof.
I personally prefer invest in top 20 coins , those are more safety than other.
Back to OP said altcoins failed to win over bitcoin, I think we must think realistic.
Altcoins are the follower of bitcoin, I don't think altcoin will win over bitcoin.
