Title: Before sending bitcoins, do you....
Post by: Zed0X on June 05, 2020, 06:18:44 PM
...check the size of the mempool first?
...bother to check the transaction fee first (sat/byte or sat/vbyte)?
...adjust the fee or just follow the default fee set by the wallet you are using?

I'm curious how many of us here does this.

Perhaps above actions are of careful people. I usually just check to see if my account is enough to transfer BTC & pay transaction fees :)

I will never recommend anyone to lessen the fee as miners will not pick it up and confirm it. When you are sending Bitcoin through a wallet always use the default or given fee to get your transaction confirmed within a stipulated time.

Miners have become very particular with fees now days after the recent halving. So, alway be cautious when you send Bitcoin.

That's inaccurate. Miners prefer higher fees and those tx gets confirmed first BUT it doesn't mean tx with lower fees don't get confirmed at all. They will be but at a later time unless they have been dropped by the nodes.

Why would you not recommend lessening the fees when they can save up a few dollars for doing so? When you're not in a hurry, you don't have to follow what the wallet default fee is.

Example:

If the network is congested, the fee is usually high and if you send at those times, the wallet would probably set a fee equivalent to $5. If the other person you are planning to send to is willing to wait, why pay for $5 fee when you can send now at $0.50 and your transaction will still be confirmed in the next few hours?

Maybe you are not familiar yet how to check mempool and do estimates. You should try to learn that.

Perhaps above actions are of careful people. I usually just check to see if my account is enough to transfer BTC & pay transaction fees :)
It will save you a few $ if you do.

Thanks for advice!
I only moved my BTC when it was absolutely necessary, like participating in an ICO or buying some other tokens, that decision was only momentary and I was not sure when the transaction fee would go down. So as long as the transaction fee is not considered too expensive by the community, I will proceed with the transaction as usual.

I always check everything before sending Bitcoin. The main thing to check in my opinion is the wallet to which you send, and only then look at the commission.

Hello brother thanks very much for your valuable information provide in your post. Maximum freshers don't carefully transfer their assets... So they lost their assets heavy transactions fee, gas price and block.

I was never so careful as you, bro. You are too detail in checking everything before sending Bitcoins. But it is a good way, I expect can follow your way. It must be more secure if we can apply that way every sending Bitcoins.

I did these ways but not every time, I just did them when I think it is needed. You are right that we must do them to make sure the security when we send the Bitcoins. But sometimes we too hurry to send it and lazy to do them.  ;)

I only checked the fees of the transaction when I want to send Bitcoin. Because sometimes, the fees can be different. I just decide to send the Bitcoin when the fees are rather low.

Before sending bitcoin some carefull manners should be maintained because if anyone don't follow such manners,, bitcoin, Ethereum would be risky, lost. Transactions fees, gas limits, bitcoin address that send should be checked redouble.

I don't see any other reasonable reason why someone would check the fee.
When you send, do you also follow the wallet default fee? or adjust it manually?

I'm not even sure if you actually understood my post. It's about the transaction fee and not security. Please read carefully or else your posts could be reported as off-topic and/or signature spam.

I suggest you spend more time learning the English language mate. Google translator seems to have failed you with "maximum freshers". I'm thinking what you actually meant was "most newbies".

Anyway, that is to be expected. Most of them aren't aware of the technical details yet like monitoring mempool.

I think the most important thing is to check if you are sending to the correct address. Everything else is trivia. If you send it to an unknown address, most likely no one will return your coins to you. Now imagine that you sent 1 bitcoin to an address unknown to you. Imagine? :) Then another piece of my advice is not to send everything in one transfer. You can send 2-3 transfers in small amounts. You can send 1 transfer with a small amount to check if they will reach the address you need

Before sending Bitcoin, it is not enough to check the Bitcoin address. Checking transaction fee is also important, because each bitcoin wallet has a different transaction fee.  Of course we want the cheapest transaction costs.  But I rarely do that myself, because I think the transaction costs of each bitcoin wallet have the same average price.

I totally agree, and this is true. Make sure the address of the bitcoin wallet that we will send the coins to be true, not to be wrong. Because if it's wrong, then our Coins will disappear.
I don't think you guys have difficulty understanding English. I don't understand why you're derailing this thread.
Both of you should probably set an example here to be on-topic and not to spam signatures for bounty. Open your own thread if you want to discuss another topic please.

The topic was posted on Bitcoin discussion mate.
If you looked at the questions properly, you can see the fee in sat/byte or sat/vbye and not in gwei.

Please know that basic difference in bitcoin and ethereum.

I also adjust fees in blockchain befor create any transaction  , sometime I need Bitcoin instant then by some extra fees we can makes our withdraw instant.
This is really a great opportunity for us to adjust fees as our requirements.
