Title: What do you think about social platforms that are based on blockchain?
Post by: Hanhobi on July 06, 2020, 06:42:59 AM
As you guys all know that platforms like Facebook or Tiktok are courting controversies due to their privacy scandals.

Just find out about Pantograph (https://pantograph.io/) - one of the first SNS platforms that facilitate the Blockchain Technology.  It is an effort of Bacoor Inc. to push up the mass adoption of this advanced technology. More details: https://pantograph.io/what-does-sns-mean/

What do you think about social platforms that are based on blockchain? Will these platforms be the future of SNS and replace Facebook?

I actually like the idea of a social media platform that is based in the blockchain technology so as to protect our privacy but the problem is that not a single one of these many projects really made it and become successful even just 5% of what Facebook so far did. I am not so sure why people are not patronizing, maybe they are so addicted to the juices that Mark has been serving for the past many years.

I have not seen any Social Media platforms that has built it's platform on the blockchian or intend to launch a platform on the blockchian yet.
However, any SNS platform that will launch its platform on the blockchian will be a welcome development and will be an amazing project that will highly protect users privacy. I hope it happens soon.

Blockchain technologies are becoming very popular and in demand therefore they are used in all areas and I am not surprised that social platforms will use blockchain technologies and of course this is the right choice.

The problem is, every companies claiming they are making a social network on top of blockchain, but most of them are making new proprietary cages for user’s data. Non of them implements an “open standard“ structure for recording users data by a safe and secure mechanism in a permission less blockchain. And non of them grant access to these data through API. All are trying to steal users (and user’s data) from other platforms to sell it to advertisers. So there will be hundreds of new social networks, like isolated islands with small population, which is another flaw of new SNs.
So no one can compete with Facebook.
If they implement an “neutral open standard” protocol - like what solid.mit.edu team are doing – and introduce it to world, so users can have “personal data sovereignty”, and companies could make their proprietary features for their customized social network.
In this case no one will compete on possessing user’s data. Instead the companies will compete on better services.

If there is a social media based on blockchain tech, it will be interesting and good news for crypto lovers. I have been waiting for a long time to see that special media to facilitate crypto users. Now, may crypto users use telegram to communicate but there are many scammers there. New social media based on blockchain may become the solution for a safer way.

There are many projects involved in building a blockchain-based social network, but I only know about Minds. This project used to have a lot of remarkable developments but the community of Minds is not as big as Facebook or Twitter. Perhaps they still have a long way to go to become popular and compete with Facebook + Twitter.
Hope Minds were popular as quickly as TikTok :)

There is already social mining that happening every where on new projects. I think many will like projects that involve social mining related to blockchain. Actually the scandal on tiktok is really a bad image but seeing how other platforms work on their own social mining without any hassle is seems to be fine for now. The only issue here are more on creating fud on news to drive down and up the coins associated within.

Blockchain has a huge list of advantages over the traditional ecosystem for tech platforms. SNS platforms based on the blockchain may get a slow adoption right now, but I certainly believe they are the future as in time their adoption will grow hugely.

It is very good news for blockchain technology. I always welcome SNS platform in this blockchain platform. It is very good idea. But it is not easy to overcome facebook. Facebook has already captured the leading place of the social media platform. People cannot imagin without facebook. So I think, a long time is needed to replace facebook.

It's amazing to see such adoption into social media platform. It won't be an easy task to take over facebook but with blockchain, we would have more hope in knowing our data privacy is preserved. The idea of social mining is also growing and soon we would see blockchain ruling many major sector.

Since it is a shared and immutable ledger, the information in it is open to anyone and anyone to see. Hence, anything built on the blockchain is very transparent and everyone involved is responsible for their actions.

Blockchain has a very special feature that the transmission of data does not require an intermediary to confirm information. The Blockchain system exists with many independent nodes capable of verifying information without requiring "signs of trust". Information in Blockchain cannot be changed and only added with consensus of all nodes in the system. This is a highly secure system that is highly secure against the possibility of data theft.

Blockchain is a technology that allows the secure transmission of data based on an extremely complex encryption system, similar to a company's ledger, where cash is closely monitored. This is a solid foundation of the project
