Iran has raised concerns from authorities that the energy-hungry "mining" bitcoin process will abuse Iran's use of subsidized electricity.  Currently at half a penny per kilowatt, subsidized electricity rates, have sparked a thriving crypto mining community in the country.  The Iran Electric Industry Association recently expressed its intention to raise prices to seven cents per kilowatt.
