I don't know but defi for me does not sound any unique characteristics to be the reason why token under this blockchain became so much expensive.. we all know that supply and demand have a big role in determining the price of the token.
Let me look YFI for an instance.. this token is now tradable above $40K. if we look at the total supply of the token it's just 30K this supply can be easily manipulated by so called whales. Plus the hype of the internet that pushing this token into good position in the marketplace.. many investors rushing to exchange just to get a portion of this token and because the supply is limited the price is keep on pushing because of huge demand.

The most favourite and popular defi project is yfi finance project. yfi finance project price comparitively equal to bitcoin. but I don't think yfi a compitator of bitcoin because yearns finance has no critical appreciation to compite with Bitcoin.
