The abovementioned report also included detailed speculations regarding how a digital Euro would affect the Eurosystem and how it could future payments security. What is more, the report acknowledges the importance and necessity of a digital Euro for the European Union’s economy and prosperity.

It's interesting that banks are looking to hop in on the digital currencies train, after spending so long rejecting them.

It seems that this is due to the influence of the digital Yuan, which makes Europe interested in adopting the euro into a digital currency. Of course, the role of the government in maintaining the digital euro ecosystem is very much needed

It looks like it is.  Despite the partially negative attitude towards decentralized cryptocurrency, the Chinese government very quickly appreciated the advantages of walking its digitized yuan not only over cash, but also over its non-cash forms of payments.  Moreover, it approached this issue very seriously and thoroughly.  What has been done there over the past three years deserves respect.  Europe and other countries woke up too late.  And then, to start research in this direction, they were forced by the emerging coronavirus epidemic.  Now, most likely, almost every state in the near future will have its own national digitized currency.
