Visa Inc. and BlockFi are teaming up to launch a new credit card that rewards users with Bitcoin (BTC), setting the stage for wider mainstream adoption of digital currency.
The card, which carries a $200 annual fee, will be issued by Evolve Bank & Trust.
This isn’t Visa’s first foray into cryptocurrency. Earlier this year, the credit card company partnered with digital startup Fold to offer a debit card that earns crypto-based rewards.
More broadly, Visa has outlined a positive vision for digital currency adoption — reversing an earlier, more hostile attitude. Currently, there are more than 25 cryptocurrency wallets connected to Visa’s systems.

After PayPal, Visa, which is seen as the biggest rival of crypto in the cross-border money transfer market, is also approaching crypto. Of course, Visa says that crypto is an inevitable trend, instead of criticizing BTC's transaction speed is only 3tps and ETH is 15 tps while Visa's maximum speed is 24K tps :)
What do you think about this problem, is this a sign of a crypto triumph over traditional means of payment? Or is this just a mutually beneficial combination of both sides to access new users?

They know how to see a big source of revenue from afar even to the point of easily reversing their strong stand against cryptocurrency before. Well, this is the power of money all working to change an institution's mindset. Visa has realized fully that cryptocurrency is already unstoppable so why not make some money instead by joining the club. This goes also with PayPal. I am sure that soon more and more big name financial institutions are to join the party!
-
This is great news, many companies are already joining the crypto industry, thereby making it even more popular and, accordingly, more and more people are interested in it.
-
Visa is not the first time trying to somehow integrate cryptocurrencies into its system, but so far they have not offered anything really worthwhile. Cashback in cryptocurrency is an interesting idea, but we will need to look at exactly how they want to implement all this. It is possible that this will turn out to be another unsuccessful attempt, so I would not jump to conclusions.
-
The road to mainstream adoption is getting realistic and inevitable from the looks of things, it doesn't matter what approach they use for crypto acceptance but the important thing is they do recognize it which is great for the crypto ecosystem, I think the PayPal news has brought a clear picture about crypto and btc to many other top companies, soon many will follow.
-
Well, this is of course news...
And how can it not be recognized, if crypto currencies confidently win the market.
-
Many big and good companies are joining cryptocurrency. I think cryptocurrencies have a lot of potential in the future.
-
This is very good news and it once again proves that various big companies really want to work with cryptocurrencies and the time will come when all areas will be absorbed by cryptocurrencies and cryptocurrency technologies, it's just a matter of time, so incredible opportunities and discoveries await us in the future in the cryptocurrency sphere.
-
The fact is that today cryptocurrencies are really quite profitable assets and this is not only done by enthusiasts. It is worth looking at the capitalization of the cryptocurrency market and everyone wants to have at least a little from such a big money pie.

I think after Ebay & Visa, a lot of other tech giants will consider integrating crypto into their ecosystem. Perhaps using crypto for payment is still not feasible at the moment, but using crypto as a reward for the loyalty program is feasible now. We all know the feeling of "happiness" to own an asset that can increase in value tomorrow like crypto, the tech giants are bound to exploit that feeling :)
Amazon, Walmart, Kroger, Costco... could be the next names in crypto fan club. Alibaba or Taobao can also be approached, but I think digital Yuan will be given priority under pressure from the Chinese government.
-
About time, I always knew all they were doing in the past was pretending to be against crypto but now we can see the story has changed, now the big companies are all interested in coming in, this was bound to happen sooner or later, am glad visa has seen the importance of crypto and digital payment, soon many more will follow, 2021 will be an interesting year no doubt.
-
I believe before this companies are accusing Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies a lot. But now it seems like the Tide is turning back and these companies slowly embracing Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies how ironic but that's the reality in the corporate world, accept, ride and innovate, if you want to stay in the game and I think that was a good decision from Visa.
-
Remember, as they say, if it is impossible to stop a process, then in order to successfully confront it, you must lead it. So in this situation, the symbiosis of payment systems and cryptocurrency payments will bring much more benefits from mutual cooperation. Nobody has yet given up the profit. Large companies will not stand aside from financial flows.
-
Various banks around the world approve Visa to deposit money on cryptocurrency exchanges. So I think many banks support cryptocurrency. So investors are getting a lot of benefits. There will be more benefits in the future. Visa may be the maximum use for future worldwide transactions
-
This was always inevitable and gives the crypto industry a massive boost towards the fulfillment of mass adoptions. Visa is not only huge but offers some of the widest coverage in terms of customer base and usage. This will ensure there is great penetration, ultimately leading to huge demand for cryptocurrency and blockchain. The future of the blockchain industry looks assured and promising.
-
The adoption of cryptocurrencies is one of the reasons, in my opinion, for the further growth of the cryptocurrency market in 2021. All such positive events bring the start of a full-fledged altseason closer
-
Paypal, Visa and MasterCard. This is big news in 2020, after Visa and Mastercard withdrew from the Libracoin project in 2019, Visa started to expand its wings to get a bigger transaction volume with the reach of large crypto users, over $500 billion in total crypto market capitalization in this year, and the situation shows that the crypto market has many investors and users who are ready to use their Bitcoin or altcoins for transactions.
-
Will it be like PayPal whether it really disappoints their users by their complicated ways for the crypto transactions?
However, actually, it is always a good chance to be part of Bitcoin whether it si also accepted in the many more sectors in the global world.
-
Global exchanges around the world have the option to deposit dollars or money from Visa. So I think some banks allow cryptocurrency through Visa. Such transactions would not have taken place on the exchanges without the use of permission. Brother I think there will be more evaluations in the future.
-
They should do it long ago because ever since cryptocurrency potential was already highlighted and now that many platforms are already recognized the existence of cryptocurrency Visa has needs to compete with other financial institutions like Paypal in the heart of the cryptocurrency users.
-
I think this is very positive news with regards to the mass adoption of cryptocurrencies, because visa as it is known is a large platform and is well known all over the world. Hopefully in the future Mastercard can follow the steps of the visa.
-
It is really good progress in the crypto world in which there are many more companies that are involved than us. If you are going to have a good chance for Visa and also PayPal, we can it right now. But the question is that will Visa be like PayPal where there is stull many things to do
-
Attempts have been made for the first time to somehow integrate cryptocurrencies into its system, but so far they have not really made any significant offer. Cashback is an interesting idea in cryptocurrency, but we need to take a closer look at how they want to implement it.
-
^ This is good news that has the potential to make other companies follow suit. surely in 2021, there will be many more financial companies that will accept cryptocurrencies.
-
PayPal and Visas interest in cryptocurrency is a great news for full crypto industry. One day every country will surely accept cryptocurrency. These news will help the industry to grow and visas news will take attraction of many people which will make a increase in investment I think.
-
This is great news in the cryptocurrency world. After all, such a giant as Visa is no longer as hostile to cryptocurrency than before. This will have a positive effect on the cryptocurrency hype.
-
Yes, many of these organizations that were haters of cryptocurrecy in the past are now picking interest. In the past, some of these companies had claimed that cryptocurrecy was a bubble ready to burst, while some said cryptocurrecy was ponsi scheme etc. I think Visa coming on board is a welcome development, and will further help to increase mass adoption and the popularity of the cryptocurrecy economy.

We can call this change evolution :)
Bitcoin & crypto has new comrades instead of enemies. That is a good sign of widespread acceptance.
I really hope that Visa will soon accept BTC on a deeper level and allow users to transfer BTC and other cryptocurrencies easily.
There are so many people who criticize Bitcoin, maybe they will change their mind soon.
-
The good news keep pouring in. we saw paypal got in this year. we microswitch join the crypto space. square also join the bitcoin sector and offered his platform twitter as a means of marketing for cryptocurrency. Facebook and the other social media platform will surely join the forum sooner or later. it is a matter of time. we will see more major and bigger institutions join the cryptospace.
-
Visa are approved from different countries around the world. At present it is possible to transact through visa from some exchanges. It is possible to deposit money through cryptocurrency exchanges through Visa. So I think it will be more popular in the future.
-
This is only becoming popular.
I think that with time other payment systems will also become faster and more efficient. Everything takes time...
-
Though it would be a popular cashback offer but charging 200 could be a big hurdle for mass orders of this card, if they want to charge some fee that should be minimal and not look like extortion money.
-
This is good news, Visa is a big company. I am increasingly convinced that there will be more and more who accept Bitcoin, Bitcoin will continue to grow until the time when everyone will accept Bitcoin.
-
Every country should allow bitcoin to keep the wheel of the economy moving. Bitcoin earning and trading companies are constantly doing well. But some dishonest traders are using Bitcoin in dishonest ways. So Bitcoin is not getting approval all over the world. However, traditional banks in every country will soon accept bitcoin.
