Title: How effective is an Airdrop?
Post by: klebsiella on May 04, 2018, 04:52:01 PM
We all know that giving free tokens or airdrop is a marketing strategy to raise awareness to potential investors. Do you think it has served its purpose?

I think so. Airdrops is a tool to attract the investors out there or from the participants. Free coin or give away coin that is airdrops.

I believe airdrops are a nice way of avoiding uncertainties about the legal status of your tokens. Although some airdrops require KYC - a feature whose reason eludes me. Should not tokens in airdrops count as gifts? Aside from this, airdrops are a good way to increase the reach of the project. If I did an ICO today I would surely put tokens aside for an airdrop. I think many telegram channels have 4 digit numbers of followers only because of airdrops.

My interest for airdrops have dwindled due to the frequent failure to receive airdrop forms i filled. Honestly, this rang a bell to me as these forms are used to collect information of participants and sell them to the dark web or phishing sites.
The few ones that were distributed too couldn't even sell for more than $5, basically time wasting.

Hello Domithra, would you mind, I so much appreciated your posted topics everywhere. Honestly I don't like your writings before but now you improve so much. Your improvement is like also an altcoins it's increase position.  ;D

To op airdrops is not advisable if you don't like to waste your time. You can get a small payment on that, but if it is required to join in telegram as what the rules of some campaign then you don't have a choice but to join.

I think the airdrop is just to increase the number of people joining the project. as more and more people are joining more and more investors who are looking at the progress of the project. before following the airdrop better see the project to be developed.

I believe so. Although many were not real or just scam, there are solid projects out there that came from airdrop. Rebl and Blue for example.

Airdrops is a gate to open the next big step to step up the project in industry. That is the other way to call in the street the investors and the potential supports. Sometimes airdrops can get easily the money of other it the project is scam. Sad

I think its a mixed bag.. I've had airdrops even be profitable with some in 2017 equaling hundreds of dollars in value if coin does well.. but it really depends on your abilityt o unload it and where.. If you make the process easy or just airdrop out to wallets, you'll have some success in notoriety but KYC for an airdrop is stupid.  I first heard about Tron when I got airdropped 500 tokens early on Binance for having referrals earn me a few which qualified me for the airdrop.  I'd say yes but the details and circumstance really matter.

I read the original post as being successful from the view of the companies delivering the airdrops, not the people receiving them...but I may be wrong. If it was about the companies distributing the airdrops, then I think it varies massively depending on the project. Basically it comes down to the demographic that they want to promote to. It is easy to push a project and give away a few dollars worth of tokens to thousands of people, but getting actual investors to part with their money after seeing the airdrop promoting is a lot tougher.

Conversion rates are likely to be tiny, especially if the airdrop has not involved any real effort to take part, as it will fill up with thousands of people who never invest any money and will only ever go for freebies. In my opinion, the ones that give the best returns for the ICO are ones that involve a bit of effort, and therefore filter out many of the freebie chasers. Not knocking anyone that wants freebies, we all do, but companies need real money invested otherwise nobody makes any money.

Most of the airdrops (as someone has mentioned above) end up being worth next to nothing, and this is a big clue that those airdrop campaigns did not work. I will always keep an eye out for decent looking airdrops, but have stopped signing up for most of them. It just doesn't benefit me or the company giving it away, so not going to waste my time. With the thousands of ICOs which will take place before the end of the year, it is a tough market to grab attention, especially for smaller projects. I think the marketing departments need to up their game and be more original, especially with the advertising restrictions on certain social media channels now.

Anyway, here's to another bull run so we can all make some decent money over the next year...

I think effectiveness is very low for investor and for people who participate, much better is bounty.

Airdrop is one of the key to invite the big fish in crypto. Sometimes this big fishes are unknown that seems they work for crypto like nothing but actually they are something. Airdrop is effective tool to inject to the participants how effective and potential they are in. It is nice move to the campaign who wants rapid growth of investors if possible.

It is getting counter-productive now I think especially to those projects with ICO's.
They do airdrop with the hope that a percentage of airdrop hunters will also invest in ICO's but a high percentage of hunters are not even interested in investing.

Airdrop is kind of the bulk promotion media of the ICO or projects. I think it may be effective to introduce the ICO projects. however, many airdrops are now not trusted. So, if an ICO holds the airdrop program, just arrange and manage the good airdrops to attract the investors to come and invest.

I think that's a powerful way for many interested investors to invest, but the goal of the project has not reached what is expected. Another case if the project has reached the goal certainly many people who register airdrop.

It attracts investors and it also creates a community for the project in the most effective way. It's very good

I assume it has at least contribute some awareness to the crypto users but whether is it effective or not i does not know. Marketing strategy like this do help in certain way but at the same time airdrop also create an image that the coins is a bit cheap in value which i know from an ICO founder he told me this.

I think airdrop is effective through advertising the product due to many participants but not as source of income because the amount we earn from participating is too small.

In some coins, it has served its purpose because people would be aware of the project since they already subscribe to their social media and some would consider investing in it. I have received some coins from airdrop and I became interested in some projects but then maybe half of those coins that were airdrop failed to deliver their project because they weren't able to follow their road map on time and some was disappointed.

Not really effective, i guess bounty campaign is way lot better than airdrop.

Yes, because as far as I have observed, most of the ico that are making airdrops, attracts more investors. Because of the airdrop participants that are making marketing plans to their social media.

An effective airdrop when the coin or token is already listed on the Exchange.
like airdrop hardfork Bitcoin, then airdrop for Bitcoin Cash and Bitcoin Gold.

If we analyze the current situation, it is not quite effective for a promotion way. It will be better to provide a bounty or referral program. I don't recommend airdrop if a project can plan another way.

The moments we joined an airdrop we have a task to do, at that moment also we create awareness about the project.

AirDrop is a feature that lets Macs and iOS devices share files wirelessly with a minimum of fuss.

AirDrop is extremely cool and useful, but is one of those features most people don't know about. Not because it is hard to use (it isn't) but because most people don't think to look for it. Most of the time when we want to share a photo with someone, we just send it to them in a text message. Which is easy enough, but when that someone is standing right beside you, it is even easier to simply use AirDrop.

I don't think it is still effective. I see many airdrop are worthless for the project and for the bounty hunters. Just avoid to use airdrop.

Yeah, many air drops this days are realy worthless, but come to think of air drops, obviously, it has actually been a good means to raise awareness for new start up projects; though there seems to too many scams in the cryptocurrency ecosystem.
Futhermore, "Marketing & Hype"
Air drops coins/tokens are also for the purpose of marketing and collecting leads for further business opportunity expansion.

I think not only to find investors also to have supporters in their community that will help the project also on different thing like Exchange voting.
