Naci Ağbal, President of the Central Bank of Turkey (CBRT), yesterday (12/25) told MPs at the TBMM Program and Budget Committee that the country will start a trial in the second half of 2021 and has never disclosed it before The digital currency that has passed.

The foreign media stationed in Turkey "CNN" quoted Abar as saying :

(We) have a research and development project based on digital currency. The conceptual phase of the project has now been completed. The goal is to start testing in the second half of 2021.

Prior to this, Turkey has hardly disclosed any central bank digital currency (CBDC) actions. Even the CBDC report updated by the Bank for International Settlements (BIS), which has the reputation of "central bank central bank", did not capture any Turkish CBDC projects.

Unexpectedly, the governor of the country’s central bank, Abbar, would just start the actual test when he let go. According to the BIS report at that time, 80% of the countries/regions are still in the evaluation stage, and only a few countries (such as Sweden, China, and the Bahamas) have entered the pilot program.
