Title: What can we really say is greediness in cryptocurrency?
Post by: Delgboke on March 17, 2021, 09:04:55 PM
Imagine I have a coins and tokens that are valueable already in the crypto currency market based on the price value issue I decided to wait for a while before selling it because the current price could not yield a better increase at that time and I have to wait for the price to grow, is that greediness or something else?

On the one hand, the price cannot go up forever.  On the other hand, you cannot sell too early .. You need to monitor cryptocurrencies, what you have, every day and evaluate all the news and trends ...

Greed breeds poverty! For example: I had ALICE coins received from Binance Launchpool, I missed the moment to sell them for $40 per coin, and when the price dropped to 30, I decided that I would wait until it was 40 again. What is happening with the coin now I think there is no need to explain))

After the opportunity comes to sell at the price you want, then do it, if you wait for the price to be higher, then it is not greed but hope.
I had expected a lot from holding a coin, only 1 in 10 coins had a good price, the other 9 coins had a drop in price and I thought that was the importance of experience.

Do you have a target to sell your coins? Greedy means you are too ambitious to get bigger prices of your coins even if the target on your coins already meets for selling. Moreover, if you are aware that the price is already on top of the current increase, but you still want a bigger increase. Then, finally, you sell once the price dropped in a big number later. This is the description of greed, but if you don't do it, instead you have reasonable factors to continue holding, it is not greedy.

Waiting for a certain coin or token to get into a better price is not being greedy. I am sure that it is called as patience and that is something that is lacking in the marketplace today. Of course, I am assuming that we are talking here of a good coin or token and not just another valueless shitcoin, otherwise that would be like blindness. Now, if the value is already good, yet you continue to think that it can go far more, maybe there is already an element of greed in there. We have to understand that all investors (since we are all human beings) have that element of greediness and to a certain extent there is nothing wrong with that, we just have to learn to manage our greed.

This is not greed, but it may be the right decision as you can earn more.

It is better to sell at the appropriate time if the hodler is convinced enough that the profits earned worth it, I had watched a lot of coins that peaked and later dumped to a worthless price even in trading take profits at high and avoid all sort of greediness to avoid telling us touching stories later, cryptocurrencies are very volatile and can rekt a portfolio in a very short period of time.

There is no single answer to this question. All funds can be divided into two parts. Sell half now for a good price. And I will sell the second part in the future. In this way, the risks can be reduced.

To me I believe every investor at a point should take profit but we all know that some of us will rather think of waiting for a longer time even when they see the price going down hoping there is still going to be a reversal of price and they could make more and eventually earn less than they would have if they had sold earlier. I think some of us have be guilty of this and to me, this could be seen as greediness.

I agree with you @Anonylz. I believe at some point crypto investors will take profit and like you have said, some will want to wait to see if that profit could be doubled and some times it could actually happen and in some cases that could lead to loss. I believe investors should have a target exit point.

The main thing is to set a target level for sale and when the price reaches this level, sell at least half of the total number of coins.  Perpetual hold is a bad idea and I learned it well in 2018.

@Boginya Valyutnaya you said it yourself, you can earn more, but you can also lose part of your funds or lose everything. I have always thought that there must be a point at which to say "enough", otherwise it can be dangerous for our pocket. Earning by trading without limit is a delicate and dangerous subject at the same time, at any moment we can make a mistake.

Before investing first monitor the market then take decision how much you want to invest and how much profit you want from this investment. Don't want too much profit.
If you think that it will surely go higher then you should sell some portion of your investment and keep the others in investment this will help to decrease your loss if something goes wrong.

Nobody knows the coin price will go up, if I know the price is going up, of course I will buy more and hold it for a long time.
The risk in investing in crypto will always be there, the best option is to choose a coin that has a real product and Top coins are always the choice in investment. Thus when 1 coin goes down, we still have other coins and wait for it to reach the price we want.

In a lame man's language, greediness is defined as not being contended with what you already have, like for example, say you got something for free, and you are still wanting more of it for free, it means you are greedy, in crypto, if you invested in a coin, you already set your selling price which you already decided on how much profit is OK for you, fortunately, if you investment starts going up and hit your set selling price, you refuse to sell but rather set a higher selling price, and your investment ones again hit your second set selling price and again, you refuse to sell but rather, set another higher selling price thinking the coin will continue to go up, this simply means you are a greedy person and if you are not careful, you might end up even loosing part of the capital you invested in that coin.

Greed in cryptocurrency does a lot of harm to people.  There is more or less greed inside all human beings.  However, due to the greed in cryptocurrency, people become very frustrated.  I am proof of that myself. I bought and held some bitcoins. Once the price went up a lot, I did not sell it.  I left saying there would be more growth.  Now the prices have come down a lot.  So I'm telling myself never to be greedy in cryptocurrency.

I think its not, as long as you have a target price that you have to wait before it will sell. Unless you wait for another increased of your expected price or your target as what I've said.

This cannot be interpreted as greed. We must find the right moment to sell our coins and tokens. This is most likely expediency and rationality, not greed. But if we sell our cryptocurrency at the earliest opportunity, indiscriminately and without preparation, this is what I would regard as greed.

I don't think if that is greediness.. in my opinion that's your strategy to make profit. If you don't need money then you should keep hold your crypto for now and who knows it will suddenly increase but make sure you set stop loss just to be safe.

That should simply be Hodling. It is best to take profit at good interval of pump to reduce risk. Not every Hodling is targeted at greed, it becomes greed when you keep accumulating the profit, not taking it,wanting more and more. Most time, the end up dumping to the hodler's disappointment.

Greed and frustration will always be in the market. The main thing is to be able to control your emotions. It is never possible to sell at the top and buy at the bottom. If you sold a coin, then you should not buy it more expensive later. Also with the sale. If you bought it for a long time, you need to be able to sit out drawdowns.

It is not greediness but a trading strategy. I will also do the same as you. I won't sell it too early. I will take a look at the market developments regarding these tokens and coins. If the coins and tokens have good potential in the future, I will hold on, but if the coins and tokens have no good potential, I will sell them. In order to benefit from it.

Greediness is one of the factors that may lead us to lose our money. Greediness is one of the factors that will not make us successful as long as we still have that kind of weakness. Someone is greedy and every one others may not catch it only caring about how they can't

Sometimes greediness is very useful.  It is thanks to greed, some people receive 100x or more from investments or more, otherwise their profits would be insignificant.

The OP is asking if it is greediness to wait for further increase.

To wait for further increase isn't a form of greediness but a strategy to earn more in a short time. To wait for increase, Knowledge and patience is necessary to determine the possibility whether to have more profit or to lose some.

It depends on which viewpoint we see.
Everyone has plans for long term investment, if you have a lot of money then buy low and sell high, then you can see the potential coin you will sell, assuming you have BTC, you can sell at $100k anytime alone and I don't think that includes being greedy.

Cryptocurrencies offer an impressive value proposition in that you can invest small amounts and make huge profits, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t any risk involved. Greediness in cryptocurrency is investing all your money without leaving funds for everyday life.

the way what friends say by investing all the available money without leaving funds for daily life is the biggest mistake of the life of someone who puts full trust in crypto. actually, I myself don't make it a habit to use the money from my real work to make investments, but with the money from the bounty to invest or anything in crypto.

because crypto is something that is unstable so that the bad possibility can happen with the wrong placement of what we are doing, it needs analysis and proper observation so that what we do in crypto can produce something very good. especially when crypto is excited and is likely to get huge profits. ...

A good picture has been where a vendor was, who was selling Bitcoin at 5k and nobody wanted it and later he offered it again, now at 50k and everyone wants Bitcoin now. Experts have said, a good is becoming more appreciated when it's getting more value. It's getting more establishment and people have more trust. It is what's happening right now at Bitcoin.

If a person had some money to invest in cryptocurrency, then I cannot understand why these people did not do it when it was much more profitable, and not now. When Bitcoin was 5K, everyone denied its growth, but now they buy at 50k and are sure of the opposite.

I remember I underwent this exact scenario with Hydro, a project that airdropped it's taken to Des, about 2 years ago. They gave 222,222 tokens to everyone. The price pumped to 2 cents which gave the tokens a max of 4mil. I didn't sell it at that All Time High, thinking it would pump higher. Never did!

We are human and we have greed and fear. When it comes to money these vices of ours are manifested very strongly. To minimize the impact of our emotions on money we need to act according to plan. When i started to act according to the plan my state of affairs improved.

This is mostly human nature. We generally will like to get more out of what ever we get involved in and crypto trading is no different. I do understand how we should set some target for profits taking but as human, there is always the believe that, I can earn some more let me hold on for a bit. When the price eventual goes against you when you could have taken the profits before, that could now be seen as been greedy but if it goes in your favor, its all good  ;D

Greed is common in everything, not just cryptocurrencies. But the really good thing is learning the hard way. When we keep our coins/tokens for a long time even when their economic value is rising non-stop and we don't sell, it is at that moment, when we lose money, when we learn to see things differently. And for better or for worse, it is the only way that many people learn.

greedy in cryptocurrency, my definition is that when the target is reached we keep holding the coin without knowing the target anymore. Until even if we get hundreds of percent of our profits, we keep it. it is greedy in my opinion.

At this point in time, I can't really tell which is greed. I have these coins which I received from bounty years back, if i had sold all at then, maybe the profit would have been better, but now the price of all the coins are down and my holding are more like nothing available, recently the price of the coin(s) are making a little increase. I have not sold, having the thinking that the price will go higher and due to the high gas fee, am still holding, cause if I am to withdraw, my profit will be just a little above gas fee.
If the price of a coin hits the satisfactory point which you think you have gotten a good profit out take, just do it, or leave a few fraction or half if you think the price will still make a rise.
