MicroStrategy, the business intelligence firm that has made bitcoin (BTC, -1.45%) its main treasury reserve, said its non-employee board members will now be compensated in the cryptocurrency.
+In an 8-K filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Monday, MicroStrategy said that from April 11 onward non-employee directors on its board will receive all fees for their service in bitcoin instead of cash.
+In making the announcement, the firm's board cited its "commitment to bitcoin."
+Under this new arrangement, at the time of payment, the fees will be converted from U.S. dollars into bitcoin and then deposited into the digital wallet of the director.
+On April 5 MicroStrategy, purchased about 253 more BTC for $15 million in cash, bringing its total holdings to about 91,579 BTC.

The wave of Bitcoin adoption has widened, MicroStrategy officially announcing payment of the board of directors in Bitcoin. Although MicroStrategy is not the first company to do so, Sacramento Kings has done this before, but MicroStrategy's announcement has made a stronger impact on crypto community.
As can be seen this year, MicroStrategy has been continuously promoting Bitcoin, Michael Saylor has created meetings, published documents to help other large companies understand the value of Bitcoin, how to buy and store Bitcoin... MicroStrategy's role in crypto community is huge now, so I believe that in the next few months, other companies will also apply the Bitcoin salary to company management. I think Michael Saylor is behind this proposal.

But in some countries, it may be difficult to be applied because crypto coins cannot be used for payment tools. For example in my country, you cannot use crypto coins to pay for foods, services, or anything else. It is only used for a digital asset.

Lol. I would not prefer this due to volatility, at least for now. Actually, there is no need. It can create lots of legal and usecase difficulties in many countries. But too many companies started to give this option to their workers. Even Miami's mayor suggested Miami pay municipal workers and accept tax payments in Bitcoin, as well as invest city funds in the cryptocurrency. That's good.

I,m ready for that, even though I work and join the bounty I get payment via token, if in real life people who work as employees or consultants are paid top crypto like BTC, then it looks good, because crypto prices fluctuate, I think they will accept salary corresponds to the price of the coin with dollar or fiat pairs

I don’t think that a salary in the form of Bitcoin is a smart move. Of course now, when everything is growing, it looks good, but for the long term, losses are possible. After all, a person must live and spend his money. Of course, such a company pays a huge salary and these employees are rich and the fall of bitcoin is not terrible for them.

I think It is not difficult to receive salary in crypto. Because almost all of employees have received salary by bank or ATM. So, at the coming future,I think it will happen. receive salary in crypto.
But crypto is high volatile.

For now I don't think I would prefer getting payed in Bitcoin since there aren't many options yet to pay with it so it would be more complicated to spend the money. I'm also wary about what direction the regulations might take in the future.

That would be cool for me if I receive salary in cryptos because I am crypto fan no problem to me, I know crypto is very volatile but I'm ready for it. Depends to the employee if they like to receive crypto or cash.

Of course, I think It is a fantastic step by microstrategy. But I think We will have several problem, If employees will receive salary in crypto currency as bitcoin. BecauseWe must withdraw our salary firstly, the we can to spend it.

Paying employees through cryptocurrency I think would be a great one for crypto; But I don't think the whole world is ready to accept it right now. Many countries in the world, especially my own, have not yet adopted or legalized cryptocurrency. Although crypto is highly volatile, it is not impossible to pay employees through it in the future.

I admire the genius of MicroStrategy. It believes so much on Bitcoin that it has already bought a lot, so that means it is really expecting that the value of Bitcoin will continue to rise in the foreseeable future and since it is being guided by this conviction it is helping the market by doing things that promote Bitcoin in many ways. And the latest is the news above. Now, to the question if i want my salary to be in Bitcoin the answer is a big yes the problem is that I am not receiving any salary at all since I am not gainfully employed plus I don't think any company - for now, that is - here in my country is courageous enough to deal with Bitcoin. Instead, what I am wishing is that bounty promotions should be paid either in Bitcoin or Ethereum -- but this just a fantasy as it is impossible.

I think it's a great idea. What I am not clear about is the taxation they will use for receiving their salary in cryptocurrencies. If they proposed it to me, I would accept it without hesitation for a second, but I don't think my boss will ever propose it to me, I have ever talked to him about cryptocurrencies but he says it is "very complicated":o.

Great idea that has existed since Satoshi Nakamoto created Bitcoin and nowadays all companies have accepted cryptocurrency for payment.
I support payment using Bitcoin but some workers around the world have to exchange it for fiat to buy daily necessities, not all countries can spend Bitcoin, that's why some supermarkets and online shops need to add such payment methods to make it easier for users to buy goods

Cryptocurrency has a very fluctuating value, but I have no problem with being paid with Cryptocurrency as long as the coins paid to me are top coins like Bitcoin or Ethereum. Because even though the value of fluctuation is high, Bitcoin and Ethereum are still safe to hold.

Sure, personally, I am fully ready to receive my salaries in bitcoin or any other good crypto currency, but I did be sure ready to convert them immediately to stable coins incase the market is to volatile at the moment of receiving, but also, I still think it's better to receive salaries in fiat, it's up to the individual to invest it in bitcoin or any other crypto if he or she so wish, but speaking for myself personally, if I happen to work in a company where theres no other option to receiving salaries bitcoin, then am fully ready.

Definitely I will consider being paid with cryptocurrency as my salary imagine being paid with Bitcoin as salary 4 years ago till now I will have earned enough profits, I will only exchange some BTC to Fiat to take care of or cater for my needs like buying of stuffs and payment for services while the rest will be in my wallet while the price pump I will enjoy the benefit of hodling some btc.

i think its a good idea, we know that now crypto is growing and we also have to be able to keep up with the times. maybe it would be easier if the payment was using crypto in daily life or whatever. personally, I will support it if that happens

Just one down side to it :D I too dont think I would want to do that because even if they are going to be paying the crypto worth of your salary and because of its volatility you wanted to change to stable coins, so like you said, Stable coins might be the only form of crypto I take for salary instead of any other crypto because of its convenience.

Crypto is too volatile and the possibility of sustainability of value is very uncertain, if for any reason someone their salary get paid with btc, it will only be good when the price is up, but when the price dump, your value of salary will also dump which means you may have to wait for price to be up to get same value, for this reason am not so sure about receiving salary with crypto.

Volatility is what gives it more value don't forget, recieving your salary in stable in usdt is just like recieving in fiat in cash or via bank transfer, we'll that's you though for me I would prefer to recieve my payment in bitcoin or eth, I understand the risk of it dumping but do you also consider the profit you can earn after you get paid and it pumps.

I don't think volatility is a problem in this case. You could always receive your salary in stablecoins or automate the sale of the cryptocurrencies we receive in seconds, that way there would be no problem. The biggest problem I see in this is what percentage and amount when paying taxes.

If the payment is Bitcoin or Ethereum. I will agree to pay me. I know the risk having crypto salary because the price of this coin is not stable. May be I have more than enough salary this month and then less salary next month. My salary wouldn't be fix in dollars because bitcoin and ethereum is moving differently. But before I accept crypto payment. I should have another source of income to avoid lacking of foods.

@Falcon there is always the option of receiving the salary in USDT for example, so you would avoid the fluctuation that you say. With your salary in USDT you could even dedicate a part of that money to invest, it would be another way to avoid paying commissions for investing in crypto :).

I think every salary has a fixed amount but crypto salary has not fixes in numbers if that is given without stable coin. I always prefer that without stable coin i would like to get my remuneration because work with crypto means i done not know how much i will get remuneration that means price never fixed in number.

For now I am not ready and will not choose cryptocurrency as a payroll. Because the price is fluctuating. All of this is unnecessary because it can create legal problems in many countries. Agreed, you are not the only country that faced that thing dude. And I also think, that receiving Bitcoin as a salary to the employee is not a good thing at this point. It is still better to use stable coins compared to digital currency like Bitcoin.
Though, for the bitcoin fanatic, it is of course will be favorable to us.

Much better option to pay the employees in usdt because it is safe from dumpers and fluctuations to dip. Maybe payment through stable crypto is fair enough to sign the contract of crypto payment. Advantage to received the payment to easily convert into another crypto for investment. I think not far from reality this kind of salary of stable crypto.

I think the same, if when a company hires me they proposed to pay me in USDT, I would accept it without hesitation, but first there would have to be some legislation when it comes to paying taxes, and that in my country is quite difficult since they have a big mess. The problem in my country is not cryptocurrency trading, it is the government that is useless.

Yes, you're right Crypto is high volatile and unpredictable. If we receive salary in crypto, I think It will be big problem for us..Because we must to fulfill needs and crypto just for investment. I don't agree with this.

I fully understand what you say and why you say it, but personally I prefer the opposite. If I could receive my salary in USDT (to give an example of stable coin) I would accept it without thinking. That way I could dedicate part of that money to common expenses and the rest could be invested in other cryptocurrencies without having to go through any bank. I would just have to use the bank to convert USDT to fiat, which is easier since from fiat to crypto there are always more problems with banks.

I'll speak for myself, for me with my main fiat salary this makes no sense. Most of it is spent in the same month when i received it.
But i'm ready to receive a salary in a crypt if this is my third-party non-permanent income.

It would be good if i get salary with crypto but unfortunately we can't get it because of Govt. regulation. But we hope to cope the present world, every govt have to think and reconsider about the utility of cryptocurrency as well as legalization for their citizens. I want to have income from famous atcoins like Binance and Ethereum coins.
Bitcoin may feel very expensive and Bitcoin is indeed the king of all cryptocurrencies but I believe Ethereum and Binance will provide a lot more in the future.

Crypto currency is digital as well as virtual currency. Many of the countries did not give legitimacy of the crypto currency; from that aspect how it is possible to to pay salary for the crypto worker. I think it is possible but not at this moment rather it will take long time to implement because in the whole world all the salaries are given by any bank.

Cryptocurrencies can also be converted to FIAT from ATMs and other services that are much cheaper and even secure than traditional bank transfers, so I don't think what you say is a problem unless there are no cryptocurrency ATMs in your country. Another different thing would be the possible problems when receiving the cash and incurring a crime of tax evasion.

Some stable coins are also going into crypto, I think crypto payments can be made according to the initial agreement with workers and companies, whether they will pay with altcoins like ETH or stablecoins like Usdt,as long as payment is favorable, I will accept it.

The problem is not converting cryptocurrencies to fiat, the problem is that in some countries it is prohibited to do so and in some of those that are not prohibited there are many legal complications to carry out that conversion. If there were no legal problems in any country in the world, many people would gladly accept it.

Yes, I am paid in cryptocurrency. While I am not receiving bitcoin or ethereum, this is fine with me. I joined this group a few years ago, and it's amazing how much it's grown. I might be a millionaire if I saved 10% of it every day, but I sell it. I recommend that everyone obtain it and save at least 5-10% monthly; by the way, businesses are now paying in crypto in a number of countries.

Wow!! It is very interesting to receive salary through bitcoin or altcoin. It will open a new dimention in the crypto world if every service holder get his/her salary with crypto. But it is a matter of regret that it will take a long time to be applied. Because many countries don't give permission for crypto transaction. Still bitcoin cannot be used as like as fiat money in bitcoin percoin permitted countries. Yet I hope, one day bitcoin will be used for all types of transaction and salary will be paid by it.

it is clear that using payment in stabelcoin is the best way, in order to avoid unwanted things. where we know because crypto is unstable, as you say, there could be people who don't get it because its value drops when it is taken.
but it seems that paying salaries with crypto is not the best way, because there are still many countries that have not recognized it and it is also difficult to make transactions where many ATM machines are not available. it is different from local banks that do prepare qualified infrastructure in every remote area when people need fast.
it looks like let what is already going well are not interfered with by a method that is not necessarily understood by everyone.

Exactly mate. Stable coins is perfect as a method of payment. I will be thankful if I found a job that will rate me in stable coins in monthly basis. I don't support any unstable tokens as the payment. Because vulnerable to receive unstable and in a short while become zero or lower than half.

The problem is not converting cryptocurrencies to fiat, the problem is that in some countries it is prohibited to do so and in some of those that are not prohibited there are many legal complications to carry out that conversion. If there were no legal problems in any country in the world, many people would gladly accept it.

I heard about this micro strategy paying their workers in crypto, but I feel its unnecessary, because those workers will eventually sell their bitcoin off immediately they get that's if they need the money by month end though, however receiving salary in crypto would be nice, the only down side is after you recieve it and the coin starts dumping your value in dollars will reduce.

I don't know what it will be like in your country, but in my country there are stores where I can sell practically any type of cryptocurrency. The last time I did it with USDT (TRC-20) at market price, the commission was only that of the transaction (1 USDT), so I have no problem with receiving my salary in crypto if I had the chance.

Actually we can receive any salary what ever the model but if not popular, not accept in every country and illegal it make problem.
