The U.S. Department of State has announced it will be taking a seemingly more active role in the pursuit of keeping some crypto users accountable. According to a Thursday Bloomberg report, the Biden administration intends to ramp up efforts to trace cryptocurrency payments, particularly when it comes to ransomware attacks. I think this is actually a good decision since the cryptocurrency industry really spurned bad actors who are using cryptocurrency to push their evil enterprises. We can not condone and we should be condemning ransomware attacks which can be damaging to the image of cryptocurrency since they are using it as the way to get paid. Now, it would also help if the government will develop effective tracking system that can run after these criminals so that someday they can stop using cryptocurrency.
