Title: Electricity Provider of Iran Warns About Power Outages Caused By Illicit Crypto
Post by: RSRS on October 12, 2021, 05:03:59 AM
The national electricity ministry warned on Sunday that illicit crypto mining in Iran risks causing power outages this winter. Iranian officials frequently accused unauthorized Bitcoin miners of using massive quantities of power.

Illicit Crypto Mining Cause Power Outages in Iran
According to a statement issued by the Iranian state news agency IRNA, illicit Bitcoin mining is to blame for at least "10% of power disruptions this winter."

According to the study, illegal mining accounted for 20% of the summer's interruptions.

In September 2018, Iran became one of the first nations in the world to legalize Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, but miners must first get a permit.

Authorities stated in May that "illegal" miners, who usually have access to subsidized electricity, use six to seven times the amount of energy as those with licenses.

Actually, the effects of mining using big power of electricity are around the world. This is why mining is one of the things that are commonly used as the negative side of cryptocurrency. But, actually, it will depend on how much of the power is used for mining. There are so many industries that are also using electricity. But mining is always the one that is always raised as a problem.

I think if the miners have permission from the Iranian government then there is nothing to worry about, interference with the use of electric power often occurs because some consumers such as manufacturers rarely use capacitor banks to avoid cosphi spikes from the initial starting of machines that use motors.
but miners' electricity consumption for 24 hours is always the reason for some countries for disturbances that occur in every electricity network, I think the government needs to do an audit in every city or area to find out the amount of power needed, if there is someone who violates, namely illegal miners, then they can permanently cut off electricity until the miners apply for a permit to obtain a legal license from the government

If there are not many miners, it may not be a big problem. The problem is when the miners are increasing and the consumption of the electric power will be higher and higher multiple times. It will also depend on the availability and supply of the electricity itself in that country.
One of the reasons why mining is banned is that many miners steal electric power without willing to pay and this of course makes a country being loses continuously because of the loss of the power of electricity

Is this true? Actually, how many mining acticutues are there? Are they relaly that huge power of electric to spend for mining activities?
I am worried that this bad issues are only slreading to decrease the beliwfe on Bitcoin and make Bitcoin bad enough
