Sets an interesting precedent for future metaverse services.
Title: Amulet Protocol
Post by: Anna Garfield on September 15, 2022, 07:21:09 PM
Amulet Protocol is a decentralized Risk Protection Protocol ("RPP") created for the Rust-based ecosystem starting with the Solana blockchain. Amulet has developed an innovative and open risk protection model that not only effectively addresses the common problems of existing decentralized RPPs, but also creates a new paradigm shift for the entire risk protection sector.
Underwriting risk and requiring coverage is at the heart of any risk protection business. However, all existing decentralized financial (DeFi) RPPs face the critical problem of resilience in risk underwriting and claiming.
Amulet is creating the risk protection industry's first protocol-controlled reserve ("PCR") approach, in which Amulet will create reserves and implement a claims structure that incorporates a unique Yield Backed Claim ("YBC") method. This is a significant change from the current model where underwriters' capital is used to pay claims.
The solutions Amulet offers to address these challenges are a combination of
Underwriting mining: underwriting capital provided by underwriters and
Protocol-controlled reserves: reserves to protect the underwriters' capital.
In the early stages, Amulet will use the assets placed in the underwriters' mining pool in a conservative manner. As the protocol generates more capital through coverage payments, investment returns, etc., Amulet will gradually build up PCR to avoid using underwriter capital directly whenever possible.
Amulet plans to start with coverage for smart contract vulnerability, stackablecoin depeg risk, custodian risk, and over time expand the spectrum of different types of risk, such as credit protocol default risk, NFT asset risk, price volatility risk, etc.
In addition to individual coverage products, Amulet will also create coverage packages, combining two or more individual coverage products or covered protocols into one package, and provide portfolio-based coverage. This reduces costs, simplifies the user experience and expands their coverage.
To help users make coverage purchasing decisions, Amulet will provide coverage recommendations. Users will also be able to cancel, renew or extend coverage.
Amulet is currently running and being built on the Solana blockchain. Over time, and as capabilities and technology evolve, Amulet will expand its valuable set of products and services to a growing user base on other Rust-based blockchains (e.g., Cosmos).
