Title: Whales are Traders and not Investors, what do you think?
Post by: Bobcrypto on May 14, 2022, 03:20:32 PM
A crypto whale is a term that refers to individuals or entities that hold large amounts of crypto coins/tokens. Whales hold enough crypto that they have the potential to manipulate currency valuations.
I have Ben curious concerning the position of crypto whales since 2020, and because of the market trends in recent times (from December 2021 to may 2022), prices has not cease to fluctuate at certain renge. It becomes very clear to me that from the market price trends, there are huge activities of big whales pushing the price of Bitcoin up or down at certain price level to take a position; a situation that has been making the market very unstable.
Now, I have come the conclusion based on the unstable price conditions on different periods, to say that whales are traders and not investors. what are your thoughts or opinions.

Difficult differentiate both traders and investors, because they have something in common which is they want to make a profit, I think investors have a lot of patience for long term investment, as well as whales who will look for long term profits if they think the project is good and have an ecosystem that can thrive in the future.

Yes, it is true that they are traders but they are very big traders and can manipulate market either side as per their requirement.

I would say that these whales - and can be also true with all of us here - are investors until they decide to make some profit by trading for cash whey are holding. What is the big issue here is that because there are only a limited number of these whales they can easily manipulate the direction of the market...hopefully to their own advantage. The solution is to spread the number of people holding specific asset...but there is nothing we can do to enforce this solution...as only time can tell if this will eventually happen.

Whales are traders, that have big capital to make the market dump or pump.
I think we can research about whales character if we monitor the market chart.
But it will take good experience and knowledge.

Every trader is an investor, so in that term, all of us who buy and sell crypto are investors. Yes, we can categorize investors based on their time, but that's how it is. Whales are mostly long-term investors because you will see many whales addresses that are only accumulating BTC for the last few years. They did not sell in bull or bear markets.

This is just a thoughts of mine, I don't mean anything okay, Whale cannot hold a large amount of coin if they didn't buy a coin, unless they are part of the corporate owner of the coins. But if not, that means they are also investors(whales). Meaning, they are both in the same level in terms of being investors, Just like that.

I don't think there is much difference between traders and investors in terms of making money but ultimately their motto is to make money. One earns through the manipulation and the investors earn mostly from holding it for long-term. I can say whales are market makers who decide the direction of the market.

Now most investors can become whales, you just need to buy coins of the company you believe in. Initially, when the company is just emerging, some number of whales have already been formed in it.

I think we should always monitoring the crypto market and see the whales character every time.
If you want to do short term, we can follow whales moving .
But it needs experience and skill.

that's true, whales is trader, not investors.
Several big whales will share negative issue or positive issue to manipulate the crypto market.
They will get large profit from this moment.

Okay then what you will say about those people who brought BTC early and till now didn't move a single BTC from their wallets? Many of them still accumulating BTC. They are the investors and major holders. They are not market makers like exchanges who manipulate the market for their personal gains. Be careful about those centralized exchanges.

I think whales are investors and trader.
Not only trader.
Active whales always manipulate crypto market.
And silent whales,, just buy and hold for long term.
That's my opinion.

traders and investors are with one goal which is the basis for developing and earning profits.  therefore they have only the substance with which they want to accumulate profits.  equality of objectives and profits to be obtained.

whales have unlimited money and they always move the price in very large amounts, they make fast trades because they think if it takes too long it will make themselves lose some of their capital, usually whales will enter to withdraw profits quickly so it is difficult to find the right price point safe for profit.

You're right,  whales is powerful and have big fund to manipulate the crypto market.
I agree with this opinions.
They will make the price pump or dump and gain profit from it.

I don't understand, how come that the whales are not investors. So what do you call them holding a large of coin then?
what do you call that anyway? don't tell me dude they didn't buy a coin with a large amount they have? do you think they have it for free or they get it for free in the exchange? we all know we cannot have any coins in the exchange platform unless you set buy in it.

I think not all whales are always traders because some whales share all the money assets they have to try to add their assets from profits in cryptocurrency, because I know some whales who try to do both to get a lot of profit.

Whatever the name, whales have an important role and are able to control prices in the market, they do what they want with the aim of getting big profits for themselves. So that small traders who do not understand their actions will become victims and will lose money.  So we have to be careful with whales like this, if possible we can follow their path so that we can still make a profit.

Whales are essentially manipulators. They are there as long as the market is not regulated. And unfortunately, no one knows how long it will take before the regulation is adopted.
