The use of the Ethereum smart contract by ICOs are increasing everyday. Therefore if ICOs will continue in the future then this may positively influence the growth of Ethereum. However, the price of Ethereum has been noted to be affected by Bitcoin, such that huge decreaments in Bitcoin affects Ethereum.
This confuses me a lot, would you prefer to invest in Ethereum or Bitcoin for long term?

To my understanding cryptocurrency are build around bitcoin so bitcoin remains the king of all coins. I would prefer to invest on bitcoin weather long or short term investments because it blockchain it's more secure I believe since the existence of crypto Bitcoin blockchain has not been hacked because its strongly secured which makes the holders feel comfortable and can hold as long as they wish to all like other cryptocurrency we keep hearing different stories of hack blockchain and all the rest.

It would be perfect if investing in both for long term purposes. Bitcoin and ethereum are good to hold for both are on the top of crypto market. Bitcoin is popular, also ethereum. Both coin holds their own dominion by their own specific uses that gives interest to everybody's crypto lover.

I'm definitely more into bitcoin than ethereum currently. and it will likely stay that way..however if i go into USDT i may ride ethereum on an uptick then dump it into BTC to make a quick 10% gain

I would invest in both because these are coins that has been long standing and unlike the new coins nowadays that has yet to prove their performance in the market, the two coins has been maintaining their position in the crypto world being included in top coins in terms of market capitalization. You can also see that these coins have supporters and are quite loyal to it and you can be confident that even if the price goes down, it would eventually go up because of the demand.

For me, I would not bother if ethereum is currently affected by the crash of bitcoin, I will take this as big opportunity to invest in etheruleum while it is not too expensive because I know eth will recover after bitcoin's crisis.

If you have large amount of money, then it is better investing in bitcoin. In my case, I don't have that much money. Therefore I prefer to invest for long term in ethereum.

I get what you are trying to say, but looking both ethereum and bitcoin, a short-term investment will be the best. For example, bitcoin drop from $19k to $6 within 6months.

The ETH is a very good investment, has lots of admiration and patronage now but would go in for the BTC if investing on long term basis. By the way, Bitcoin isn't made for investment only people decide to invest in this cryptocurrency even if you find the word investment in bitcoin's white paper there is no word or sentence that tells Bitcoin is an investment currency.
Ethereum is now on top 3 of Coinmarketcap and even it decreases in rank it is still a good coin to invest in my opinion.

I will invest in ETH and not bitcoin, why i choose ethereum even though it will be greatly affected by bitcoin price is because of what i think. My thinking is that eth is possible in replacing bitcoin in the future and with great support from crypto users and ICO why will i not support eth which is the trend?

When i first started trading crypto i look upon to bitcoin but after i start to learn more and read up on ethereum bitcoin is almost like a useless coin to me and judging from the current price of both coins eth have a bigger room for growth, so i will choose eth for long term and not bitcoin

That's a good point but I do prefer Bitcoin when it comes to "Bitcoin or Ethereum" because Ethereum has an unlimited
supply and I expect that the price will gradually decrease in longterm, unlike Bitcoin that has a fixed supply of 21 million.
In my view, it is more likely that Bitcoin will increase its value for a long period of time.

It's correct that they are the most well-known cryptocurrencies but these coins are not as stable as what you have just said
and cryptocurrencies are really volatile and unpredictable and they will never be stable because they are decentralized and
there is no central bank that controls them.
