Title: Something happening to my Wallet
Post by: Arslan0049 on June 15, 2022, 03:36:58 PM
I am using a meta mask wallet since last year. I have never faced any issue, but last week my wallet lose some funds from it, I did not do any kind of activity. How can I recover my fund? if possible? if not then how can I make it safe? should I change my wallet and use a different wallet? Suggestion, please.

how could that be? I've been using Metamask for a very long time and I didn't find any problems. Have you ever connected to one of the websites? if yes, then that is the problem, so that your remaining funds can be safe then I suggest moving everything to new wallet

First of all, you need to see where the coins or tokens are transferred from your wallet. If it is clear that these are deliberate actions and promising coins are stolen, then there was a hack and the rest of the cryptocurrency is also in danger. Next, you need to analyze whether the hacking could have happened through the secret key of the wallet that became known to someone, or, say, through hacking e-mail. I think that you need to transfer the remaining cryptocurrency to a new wallet, and also change the password for e-meil in any case, it will not be superfluous.
In addition, hacking can happen through phishing messages and apps. Therefore, you need to review the passwords stored on the device and remove them from memory as much as possible.
If the cryptocurrency is transferred to the attacker's wallet, in practice it is a loss forever and there is no way to return your cryptocurrency.

You might click a link that causes a problem in your Metamask or someone gets access to your Metamask wallet if you still have funds in your Metamask wallet transfer them to a new wallet as soon as possible to stop the further loss. Recovery is not possible The funds that have gone out will not come back to your Metamask wallet and I advise do not to click the random links and always open the link from the trusted sources otherwise do not open it.

We must be careful.

As far as I know metamask has a limit storage for each wallet. If you reach that limit, you cannot open your wallets. I don't know if this is correct but (there is a red note from metamask saying your wallet is error due to  storage).

Actually, sometimes this is what the problem we encounter. Therefore, it is our obligation to secure the wallet password or private key to access the wallet if there's a problem.

I hope this is your case or else you've got to the wrong site that stole your funds.

Let us be careful

yeah, I have connected to one website once, but it's quite normal. because it is famous for coin sales.  (Pancake swap)
how can we get to know if any website is safe for us or not?

My experience is with metamask that was also hacked by fraudsters, where all because of my own mistakes. Why do I say because of my mistake, because when there is a problem that I did not get a reward and express it in the telegram and there was a DM who came in wanting to help exactly with the admin. Because I believe in the admin, I followed the direction that was the mistake I experienced, because they gave a link and when we click, our metamask was immediately hacked.
Actually Metamask is very good and tested but all the mistakes are with us, so don't want to receive any help by clicking the link from them.

Recovery is not possible, but if that money sent automatically, then you must change your wallet and send your all coins to new one. If it is hacked your remaining funds may also gone. So do it soon as possible.

I think that recovering your funds is going to be impossible unfortunately. If you have received tokens that you do not know where they come from (like all of us) do not interact with them, or visit links that you do not know even if those links are in your wallet. I have been using various wallets for years, and although I know exactly how they work, I always look twice at what I am going to do, wallets can suffer from code injection attacks and the like, so security must be extreme.

Sorry for you, maybe your wallet has been hacked and hackers have taken away all the crypto assets you have in that wallet. This being the blockchain, it's almost impossible to get those assets back as validators don't reverse transactions easily for your own use.
You should create a new account for safer use.

Are you sure that you're not doing any activity at all in your wallet? There are cases that your Metamask wallet can be hacked even if you are not using it like clicking some suspicious links, files, etc. Or maybe you have forgotten that you've already connected it to a suspicious site and not being able to revoke access as soon as possible. Or you have received a honeypot token and trying to exchange it immediately.

I am not sure if you have done any of these though. Unfortunately, the transactions in the blockchain are irreversible and there is no way for you to recover them. Sorry.

In case, someone was able to enter your account and did the transactions without your knowledge - what a hack is all about - then it is already impossible for anyone to help you get your digital assets back. We have to careful with any site even those we assumed can be safe because hackers and phishers are so creative in victimizing innocent people these days. So far, I have no problem with Metamask but it is my TrustWallet that got victimized though it is largely fault for not putting a password into it.

Something similar to that happened to me. I noticed about $500 in Fantom USD sent to a strange wallet, which is have never used. And this transaction happened after I bridged the USD from BSC to Fantom.  Iknow I didn't initiate it. I corresponded with Multichain(which I usd for the bridge) but of course they denied it. And I didn't input my private keys or mnemonics on any sites with that wallet

From what you say, it is possible that some bad actor is making you interact with one or more contracts so that your funds move without your permission. That is what the scammers want us to do when they send us unknown tokens, in case we try to send those tokens to some address, the contract would send all our funds (not just that token) to an address predetermined by the scammers. We must be very careful not to trust anything, not even tokens that we do not know and are in our wallets.

In the past I have also experienced something like this, losing the assets that I stored in my personal wallet. But the fault lies with me, that is I was trapped in a phishing site.
So that my private key data is known by other people and finally my clean assets are not left in the transfer of other people to a new Wallet.
From here I am now very careful in carrying out all activities related to Crypto, and always pray that this incident does not happen again  return.

Me too, I also used metamask for along years and Safe.
I think OP might do transaction , but forget..There are several scam tokens, So be careful.
If we didn't buy those tokens, don't do transaction with it

Although it seems incredible, it is totally possible. The scammers create the smart contract so that when someone sends them from their wallet, they get full access to whatever funds the user has available. At that point, the scammer can do whatever they want. So the best we can do is ignore those tokens and if possible remove them from the visible list, that way we won't be able to make the mistake of interacting with them and our funds will remain safe.

Currently, there are lots of bad people who continue to stalk anyone who has assets in Cryptocurrencies, they are aware that this is a good target for their evil acts.
Because this cryptocurrency has a close relationship with money, we must be extra careful in carrying out every activity.
Sometimes we accidentally do something that can be fatal to ourselves, because lost assets in Crypto wallets are impossible to find and return again.
