There are four primary ways to track whale activities, which include monitoring known whale addresses, order books, sudden changes in market capitalization and trades on crypto exchanges.

Currently, a very huge amount of Bitcoin has left certain crypto exchanges within the last 48 hours, and i think that watching or monitoring whale addresses is a sign of a market changes, possibly a positive market outcome if some good numbers of Bitcoin is leaving exchanges. When Bitcoin is leaving certain wallets to exchanges, it is also a sign of negative market situation, and possibly a sell off or dump..
