Title: Why ETH rises less than BTC, and falls faster ?
Post by: CryptoGirl on October 18, 2017, 03:23:32 PM
If you notice everytime the market is moving upward, ETH lags behind bitcoin.
And everytime the price drops, ETH drops more than BTC ...

this might be related to:
- Quantity in circulation
- Distribution of the cryptocurrency : As Ethereum is more distributed due to ICOs
- Less willingness to hold

Other ideas ?

Likely because most people are taking all money from altcoins and putting into BTC in anticipation of the upcoming hard fork. When forks occur, you get 1:1 of the new Bitcoin for the same amount you had in the old Bitcoin. And since the fork is essentially free money, the more BTC you own prior to the fork, the more free money (new BTC) you’d have.So if you had 3 BTC now, after the fork you’d have 3 BTC and 3 Bitcoin Gold. People are pumping their BTC now because of this.

I think the number of enthusiasts of ethereum is not worth the bitcoin. all types of pairs are more dominant to bitcoin so the volume of bitcoin in the market is very large.

Yes I see. ETH rises less than bitcoin and  falls faster. Because bitcoin is still the KING and dominate.

circulation and distribution are same which mean point 1 and 2 are same.
lately people very unwilling to hold it because the nodes kept dying from time to time,as we can see.
right now we need a lot of GAS to send our token from ETH network, and even though we used a 'sufficient' GAS to send it.
our token did not go through.

This phenomenon might be because bitcoin is still the most prominent figure in crypto so even if crypto price is hurt it will be less sever fot bitcoin

I think the reason why ethereum rise less than btc and falls faster , because BTC is the first and more popular than eth.

because altcoins are more dependent on Bitcoin prices.
on the basis altcoins are afraid to grow due to dependence on Bitcoin.

there must be a strong event for Altcoins to be stable even though Bitcoin goes down, eg airdrop events etc.
