Title: Question about Ethereum Pow and POS
Post by: Ratnakar Das on September 24, 2022, 03:46:23 AM
Pardon me if this question doesn't make sense, it hurts my feelings when I get insulated for asking about something I don't know so please be gentle

1. The new ETH PoW coin still have smart contract active?
2. Are there projects still running on ETH PoW instead of the new ETH PoS?.

ETHW and ETHS are created by the Ethereum community, some exchanges support these two tokens, but they have different prices, if you have seen Ethereum Classic, yes, it functions exactly the same way, has smart contract features and can be mined.
then what about Ethereum today? The merger was successful and the network has moved to POS consensus, you don't have to worry about your current Erc20 token, read more here https://ethereum.org/en/upgrades/merge/ and about ETHW please read this article

Yes, the merge is just a change of consensus. And ETHW communities are the ones who maintained the PoW consensus, a.k.a decided not to merge/change the consensus. So, smart contact is still possible on both cryptocurency.

2. Are there projects still running on ETH PoW instead of the new ETH PoS?.

Projects that previously runs on ETH pre-merge will automatically adapt or follow to the change of consensus, so all apps/platforms are now running on ETH post-merge.

The current ETH and ETHW(Ethereum PoW) is a different subject of cryptocurrency, it is unrelated. The majority of ETH communities are staying their way within the current PoS chain, whereas ETHW is a wholly different subject since some communities are forking their own network.

Of course, the smart contract is still active, because a lot of projects on the old platform have remained and they are almost all successful, I think it’s just that over time they will all switch to POS, but this will not happen right away, because the gas fee will still eat them up thanks to new platforms, so that everything still works.

It's not but the smart contract can be re deployed. The only problem is if it needs people who interested to use this forking chain to make it happen. I saw that some people have been talking about this on its official main group.
There are no projects running on ETH pow currently caused by it's a new forking chain but I saw that some people were pretty much interesting to redeploy their smart contract in ethpow.
