Hut 8 gets final approval from Colombia Supreme Court on USBTC merger
Canadian Bitcoin mining firm Hut 8 is poised to conclude its planned merger with US Bitcoin (USBTC) following final approval from the Supreme Court of British Columbia. Hut 8 and USBTC announced this move in February 2023, subject to shareholder and regulatory approval. The merger will establish "Hut 8 Corporation" or "New Hut," a publicly traded US-based business. Hut 8's initial announcement emphasized that the merger would unlock 825 megawatts of capacity across six distinct Bitcoin mining and data center facilities. The British Columbia Supreme Court, in approving the merger, issued a final order noting certain conditions, including approval from USBTC shareholders.
