Title: What is your biggest loss in gambling?
Post by: Hatchy on December 15, 2023, 06:34:02 AM
Over time, many of us find ourselves drawn into the world of gambling, sometimes without the intention of stopping. Wins and losses become a part of the journey. Despite efforts to learn and study casino games, losses are inevitable, and winning is not guaranteed.
I've had my fair share of both wins and losses since I started gambling. I've tried to pick up strategies from those who understand the games, but the unpredictability of outcomes is a constant. I'm sure many of you have faced similar situations.
So, let's share our experiences. What's the largest amount you've ever lost to gambling?

Nobody likes to loose in gambling but unfortunately losing in gambling is inevitable as the chances of losing are way higher than that of winning, gamblers would understand what I'm talking about.

I've also had my own share of wins and loses, but sadly for me, the loses by far beats the wins which I believe is same for most other gamblers. Well my highest and greatest loss in gambling was a couple of years ago, it's a day I'll never forget because I could have avoided the loss but I didn't, some say it's greed while others said it was risk, but whatever it was, it made me record my highest loss in gambling.

I staked the game with over $500 to give me a potential win of over $3k, on the long run, I got a cash out of over $1800. But I just not to cash out and allowed the game to play through and at last my game was jeopardized and I love everything, that was the da I recorded my highest loss in gambling.

This statement of yours is definitely true. But there are some reasons why losing in gambling is inevitable. It seems to me that a gambler can not only lose he can also win in gambling. But the problem that most of us don't like to take a break after a win. We look forward to one win after another. If we win there again interest in another. If we continue like this we will surely lose once because both victory and defeat are very common. Winning increases the chance of losing. No one who gambles can say that he is in profit. Maybe he made a profit on a particula bet but has previous losses that have not yet been recovered. Gambling has the word loss in everyone's mind.

I lost $160 in a bet that was a long time ago. At that time, I became quite an addicted gambler. By this time i am able to control myself.

I think I lost track of my losses in gambling, but I did made some profit back then that what lure me to it. And bring about those losses I made too. But may be other factor that cause me losing that much was inexperience because was actually my first time and I let it got  the best of me. Gambling not something you can learn to reduce losses everything about it is  luck and the moment you go full out with your funds that is when your luck runs out. So due to those loses I decided to stop for a while even till now I haven't think of gambling

I can't give an exact amount since I've stopped gambling for quite some time already, but I think I can give a rough estimate of my total losses.

I think my rough estimate is around $400-$500 already, but it takes me years to get that amount of losses. I don't gamble much, and if I do, I only use a small amount of my money. I know the risks of gambling that's why I don't want to spend too much on it, and the good thing for me is that whenever I lose all of my money, I know when to stop immediately instead of getting that losses thru using money again.

Gambling is all about luck, and self-control. That's how I see gambling. If you're lucky and you know when to stop if needed, you will be going out with a huge amount of money, and vice-versa.

What's the largest amount you've ever lost to gambling?
I lost over $2k before, it is in a single game called Satoshimines way back in 2018. It started when I made the first deposit of $200, I lost after playing for only an hour. Driven by the desire to recover my losses, I deposited $2k, hoping to recoup my initial investment. Unfortunately, I let my emotions get the best of me and ended up betting all the money in one game. Within a minute of confirming the deposit, I lost everything.

Since then, I've committed myself to always keep my emotions in check and avoid impulsive decisions.

Wow that's alot in just an hour. That's just it but in trading and gambling always keep your emotions in check because any time your emotions get the best of you that when the losses begins. The best that we always learn from our mistakes.

I know. That's why since then, I have always kept myself under control to avoid a repeat of the same situation. I don't think I would be able to handle the same amount of loss again. It would cause me immense stress and I could see myself becoming unable to communicate and possibly isolating myself in a room indefinitely.

Sometimes it takes more than words but experience to teach a gambler to make the right choices when it comes to gambling, I believe before you experienced such a fall, you've been told a couple of times to gamble responsibly but you wouldn't listen until it happened to you and you learnt the ultimate lesson, like they say, experience is the best teacher. And whenever you're faced with a similar situation, rather remembering what you were told (which is always difficult) you'd just remember your experience and it'll all come back and you'll have no other option but to make the right choice.

For some this may be the case, but for me, no. Only a few people in my circle know that I gamble. Whenever I lose, I tend to keep it to myself and think about how I can recover my losses. I contemplate whether I should gamble again or take a more aggressive approach.

But yes, the result is still the same. I gained valuable insight from my experience on how to manage my emotions better. I also made it a point to read online statements from other gamblers on what they thought would be the best course of action in a similar scenario. Additionally, I took the advice from the other forum and applied their suggestions, leading to positive changes in myself.

It has often been said that "a gambler is always a loser". Show me a gambler and I will show you a person whose heartbeat bumps faster at a regular interval. Show me a gambler and I will show you a person who has several bitter stories to share and I am not exempted.

I have been into gambling for 12 years, though it's a story of win-and-lose, smiles and cries, pleasure and pain, happiness and sadness, jumping and shouting to sitting and falling deep asleep. In all these experiences, my biggest loss was selling my laptop to complete my school fees which I ended up blowing away to gambling. It's a story I will never forget in a hurry. This is the most painful of every other experience I have had since swimming in the ocean of gambling.

I will call it greed, because if it is not greed, why will you be winning and you are still not satisfied but instead you want to continue to win the more, before such gambler will realize it, he has lost all that he won and will start chasing your loss. If you are gambling and winning, the moment that you have lost two straight games, it is an opportunity for you to stop playing and quit the game and come back tomorrow to continue. Same thing applies to losing, the moment that you have lost 5 consecutive games, you should know that you might continue losing and quit. The major problem is that some gamblers don't know when to quit until they have emptied their bankroll.

Our biggest loss in gambling still awaits us :) So far my biggest loss and the loss I cant forget is the moment when I accidentally hit autobet in a game of dice with all of my balance (0.5 BNB). Even though win probability was set to 95%, it took me seconds to lose everything. Since then, I think years have passed, but I still cant forget how reckless I was that moment. I was planning to wager and rank up with a bet dollar bet, but screwed greatly.

It is normal to lose in gambling, but it is not necessary to stop gambling completely, but in case of loss from gambling, we must take something educational and accept the fact that we have lost in gambling. I will not say that I have not lost in gambling but I have recovered from gambling the same amount of profit as I have lost. I don't remember exactly but I have a clear idea that the biggest loss of my life was $300 I bet on Brazil in a World Cup soccer match with Sportbetting. But after I lost 300 dollars in that World Cup, I took a few matches to recover and recovered the loss by betting later. I have not completely removed myself from gambling but I have become a regular gambler.

What's the largest amount you've ever lost to gambling?

I was trying to protect a casino-based token but was tempted to bet using a dice game unfortunately I lost it all the value of that token was still very low but after a week it grew to 300% so based on my computation I lost $400 I should have not gambled that token and just prefer other coins I soon move on to that bad experience and its one of the things that contributed to how I play now, controlled and disciplined

So, let's share our experiences. What's the largest amount you've ever lost to gambling?
In gambling there are many records of wins as well as losses. But no one wants to keep a losing record even if they keep a winning record because it leads to disappointment. If I consider my side, I don't remember any of the wins and losses there. But when I get a big win, it stays in my mind for a long time. I always try to bet within my limits in gambling but few days ago when I have seen my friend's bet amount that encourage big bet tendency on me and I lose the bet where I placed a big bet that amount would be 35000 in my local currency Since then I never think about other people's betting amount. Because if I gamble within my limits, even if I lose there, there will be no big problem.

Well this is very interesting because I have seen that they have very diverse experiences, I look for something else, for example whenever I do anything that has to do with my losses, I am very emphatic to share them, I have lost 0.01 btf in dice, and You see that I had that loss, it bothered me a lot, in fact that loss helped me a lot to improve my game and of course I was for a long time without playing because I was analyzing every play I made in the history of the games, for that reason we Whenever we are looking for better ways of doing things, they have to happen so that more learning can be generated, because in terms of money there is little that I have generated, in this case things can happen very differently, what many lose they leave like this and they don't even worry about knowing what they lost, but that they come back and do things the same without winning anything, and that's just what should be avoided, when I lose I always learn, and that's what we should have as a premise.

For me, losing in the casino is an ontological experience, always with money that I am willing to lose, I never lose as much as that amount, which I was not willing to lose, only that time with the dice, well I lost control.

Of course there are wins and losses in gambling, but no one can say for sure that they have not lost money from gambling. I have never used large amounts of money to gamble, I have always participated in gambling games with less money. However, the highest amount I have ever lost in gambling is $70. I placed a bet on a cricket match which I bet on the team that was sure to win but the bet went against my total loss due to which I lost my money instantly. However, I felt very bad after that defeat but after two days of feeling bad, I became normal again. But now I am very responsible in betting and since then I have not lost any bet.

As long as I have been gambling, I have made many gains and many losses in the history of gambling. Between many gains and many losses, everyone has something to remember and mine is no exception. I lost a lot of money betting on one team and I didn't bet from one account I bet more money from three accounts but the result went completely against me. When all the stars including messi neymar mbape ramos were in psg i bet about 1100 dollars for psg in one match and i had a chance to win but unfortunately psg's defense performed so bad that day that all my money was lost in moments. I was watching those 90 minutes and I thought I'll never bet on PSG again because if you bet on this team you're going to lose an easy match and that was my biggest loss.

I think I had my biggest loss for more or less $10 to $20 if I am not mistaken. I can't really afford to lose more than that given the fact that I only have a small income monthly. I only gamble with my extra money that is why I save changes and coins for this purpose and other things.

I can't remember with the biggest amount losses in gambling? usually I spent around $100 every time for gambling but not consistency every day and active on weekend only. Ever deposit $500 and get return or profitable earn until $1000 then withdrawing all but ever once time my deposit fund raise up to $600 and losses all. Likely this bigger amount loss in gambling but right now have increasing limitation for depositing fund in gambling reduce with usually $500 and right now spent around $100 and next time biggest losses seem with that amount.
Losses control emotion is reason why have biggest losses in gambling and for next time I don't be greedy with gambling for depositing huge amount.

As you have said nobody is perfect in gambling one most win and lose but the chances of losing is more than the chances of winning. And the specific amount which have been lose in the process of gambling is unknown to some gamblers. Some lose big amount at once while some lose it from gradual process until the amount accumulate to bigger amount. Everyone has their amount lose to gambling. And I have also lose my share as well in the gambling industry.

400 to 500 in losses lifetime and you quit. You are 200x smarter than me.

I ESTIMATE 100k from the age of 4 to 33 which is when I quit.

ALSO that was July of 1990 when I quit so 100k was solid money in 1990

I can't recall how much I lost, been playing in land base casinos as far as I can remember around 2008-2009. So that is a far stretch of around 15 years and so my losses could be huge already. And obviously I also fell on the trap of being addicted during that time as compare today.

And I don't think that gamblers are going to share their lost as well. It's probably that they either doesn't want to disclose it. Or it is so huge that they themselves can't fathom how much is it in their career.

Largest amount I've ever lost to or in gambling I think is around $3000, and this was in 2022 during the Qatar 2022 world cup, before this, I've never bet above $30, this time was the first time ever I decided to bet such a huge amount of money simply because I was over confident that I would win the bet, so I saw this to be an opportunity to make some really good profit for myself and my business, but unfortunately, the team I strongly rooted for disappointed and lost the match, and so was my money gone, this wasn't a pleasant experience during the time it happened, but thank goodness I survived the shock.

Man, $3000 is a huge sum to lose, I hope you have recovered your losses after that. I never bet more than $5 and most I have lost so far is less than $100 but surely the same thing happened to me as well.

Instead of Qatar world cup I placed some high amount bets in ODI match series, I was pretty sure that the team which I choose will win the match but it lost against a much weaker team. I don't regret about the loss as that taught me a good lesson.

Maybe this is not a good story to tell, but this story inspired me that I should not gamble with my own money or gamble with other people's money.
Maybe this is not about me experiencing losses in gambling but there is a boss at my job who gambles online and almost costs the company where I work.
My boss gambled using company money and the company I worked for almost went bankrupt, but I am grateful that many of my friends found out about this which finally made my boss realize that he should immediately quit gambling.

As far as I know, the total loss of the company that I know of is the price of 1 brand new car Honda SUV, and that is very expensive and luxurious in the area where I live. Damnnnn !

Over time, many of us find ourselves drawn into the world of gambling, sometimes without the intention of stopping. Wins and losses become a part of the journey. Despite efforts to learn and study casino games, losses are inevitable, and winning is not guaranteed.

I lost 700 to 800 dollars gambling almost new condition. This is a huge loss in my new situation which I could not recover in a short period of time, gambling is a game of uncertainty. There will be profit and loss but still I am addicted to gambling, I can't quit gambling. I still get more of my share of winnings than losses in gambling, so when I end up playing the jackpot I face more losses. I still make losses but very little because having gained some experience in new situations I was not experienced in proper art techniques. Gambling is basically winnable based on experience and strategy, if you gamble without becoming addicted, it is definitely possible to profit from gambling.

Real losses occur when I am addicted to gambling. I retire from gambling three days a week because I need one day to gamble and one day off so I can profit from gambling. About me I am divided into three parts, I enter gambling with one part money and stop gambling when I face losses and the balance shrinks.

Whenever I see posts like this it makes me remember the hard times I had when I was deep in gambling and believe me that almost crush and destroyed my entire life but I thank God I had the will power and persistent to actually overcome this issue that almost destroyed me. For the amount I lost in gambling well I can't actually retrace the full figure as it's been very long way long before I even joined this forum but I think the amount should be around +6k$ from various fields of gambling like slots games and major soccerbet.

What's the largest amount you've ever lost to gambling?
I can't even begin to term the money I have lost from gambling large amounts because I usually withdraw a small amount from my weekly earnings to bet within any gambling house.

One thing about gambling that I've learned is that, as a bettor, your chances of winning are far lower than your chances of losing. If you don't have a set amount to gamble on every day you wish to bet, you may find yourself gambling more than you intended to, which could result in a large amount spent in the gambling house before the end of your betting.

Holy shook mate! That was huge for me as I can even able to build a house with that money here in my country. How does it feel to lose that amount? For an average guy like me I don't think I have the gut to risk that amount if I had the chance.

That was a very long time and besides the money was there so didn't actually feel like I was even losing, although it was all inheritance of my old man but it's all gone and am quite different now as I have reduced in my habits, I can't actually say I have stopped it but I do know I have gone down a lot compared to when I was a total fanatic for my team #manchester united . Sometimes it just amazed me how things have changed so greatly and ever since came in contact with Bitcointalk, I think the mentality has changed.

Seeing people call out thousand of dollars that they have lost to gambling makes me wonder if I’m actually a gambler.

I’m not sure if I’ve ever lost up to $20 in a single go in gambling – the hugest I can recall was up to $5 that I bet on a parlay and one ended up ruining everything for me, that’s the highest I can still recall.

But if I should accumulate everything only then we’ll be talking of a serious amount cos I know that I’ve experienced more loses than my wins.

Real losses occur when I am addicted to gambling. I retire from gambling three days a week because I need one day to gamble and one day off so I can profit from gambling. About me I am divided into three parts, I enter gambling with one part money and stop gambling when I face losses and the balance shrinks.

By the very definition of gambling (place a bet with odds that do not favor your the better)

you certainly can not win if you bet over and over and over like a junkie.

If you almost never bet and you make a hit putting you ahead then quit forever you could end up ahead.

I have also several losses in gambling, which I can not even begin to think about or remember all right now. Sometimes I even feel that the Loses I experienced in gambling are greater than the Wins I have made since I started gambling.

Although gambling is based on two things, which is win or loss, and the fact is that you can never have enough skill to make more winning, because winning depends on luck. No matter how skilled someone is in gambling, they can never decide or determine what the final result of their bet could turn out.

That's because if skill effects the outcome you are no longer gambling.

Take bowling I had a 170 average and would often bowl a 200 game. Better than average bowler.

So if I bowl a firmed that I know is a 125 bowler I am not gambling  he is as we both know I am far better than him.

He is gambling because he know I beat him 9 out of 10 games.
