Title: Question about multiple accounts.
Post by: KingsDen on December 15, 2023, 02:14:20 PM
I read through Royse777 rules in Tumbler and I saw his usual clause from bitcointalk
Quote
  - Multi-account (alts) can apply but will need to give up all except only one if accepted more than one.
.
Then, I remembered that I have read somewhere in this forum that multiple accounts is prohibited, although not in the unofficial rule.
@admin, please clarify the issue of multiple accounts. In bitcointalk, multiple accounts are allowed just that you will not cheat with them, such as joining the same campaign, joining same contest, pretending your alt doesn't belong to you by communicating with your alt. Etc
What is the stand of multiple accounts here?

You can have several accounts, but you have to declare it — https://www.altcoinstalks.com/index.php?topic=33059.0

Duplicated accounts get a special badge and may have restrictions in different options on the forum.

No secret second or multiple account is allowed. If found, then all accounts of this user can face with penalties.

If I am not wrong, the admin decide because of cheaters who were abusing bounty and other campaigns.
What if someone want alt account but never tried to cheat? As I can see, the thread has no activity. Does it mean no one informed admin about their duplicate account?

admin allowed informing him about duplicate accounts via PM. So it is not necessary that others will know whose duplicate account is. And I saw some accounts with a duplicate badge which was not a result of a cheating disclosure. So some users use this option, but rarely because you can make all you need with one account.

I expected that the admin will lend his voice on this matter. Maybe he is yet to see the question. I believe he is not being reluctant to answer questions like theymos. I foresee great traffic coming to this forum in few years time. It is therefore necessary that the admin should be active here to answer some of our questions and solve our curiosity so that we all be on the same page.

I have seen some accounts written CLONE on their profile. Is this what is meant by marking the account as duplicate?

You should not ask such questions as a member of a big rank because multiple account is always dangerous and you should not participate in bounty program using multiple id at the same time. If someone is abusing bounty and other campaigns then admin will take action on it. Even if someone is using multiple ids while connected to ip
address all then their ids should be banned.

When in an open forum, especially the one that gives liberty of speech, you ask questions not only beneficial to yourself but also to others. Asking about multiple accounts doesn't mean I own multiple accounts or intend to but to know the accurate rules as it relates to multiple accounts.

In bitcointalk, someone may have an alt that they do not even intend to use in campaigns but they only use it when they want to say something that may put their main account in trouble. By so, anyone has the right to discuss anything without fear of victimisation or intimidation.

Infact, recently there's a thread against theymos in BCT forum, that account is purely an alt, but then theymos as an admin wouldn't even know the person behind the account. But if the person reported to admin, the essence of the alt is defeated.
