Title: How to enable notification
Post by: Yamzakid on December 21, 2023, 11:15:06 PM
Many people have complained about how hard it is to use this forum, and I believe that's because they don't take the time to read the rules carefully before posting

I recently came across a post from someone who was complaining about not receiving notifications when someone posts a new topic or when someone replies to their post, unlike other forums.

The aim of this post is to educate other newcomers in the forum to help solve this issue regarding receiving notifications. It is easy, all you have to do is follow this steps on the image provided below.

We are used to notifications for mentions, and they somehow come as the most important of all notifications. It can be a reply in the same thread, but completely irrelevant, but if someone quotes or mentions you, you still want to know/read it.

I agree with you, getting notified when someone mentions you is important, it's not like getting notified about every post being written on a given thread. Unfortunately, we are used to this on bitcointalk.

The notification feature found in the forum software is the best. But whereby the notification feature is gotten from the the telegram page then it is bad. But when someone mentioned you in the forum and you get the notification then everything is okay.

I will assume y'all talking about Bitcointalk
notifications comes via the telegram bot created by TryNinja.
unfortunately this forum doesn't have that yet which can be said of Bitcointalk in its earliest 5 Years
but I believe with time something like that would be developed.

Here the Notification service is good and very helpful because its presence in new topic or bounty is very fast. Anyway I'm glad i found the service and I've already researched it.

It's nice that the forum has notifications, but it could be better. Getting notified about mentions and replies is really important on forums like this. If you look at BitcoinTalk, even though it's big, finding your posts or mentions isn't at all hard because you just have to click on the links on the notification bot and you will be redirected to the post of mention.
I hope the forum can add features like that on BitcoinTalk soon. It would make things less stressful and much easier to find. This way, we can navigate the forum more smoothly and not miss important stuff.

This is not working in my side also the notify button doesn't appear on every  thread.

The complain you are seeing is not how difficult this forum is, besides the forum settings are very similar to every existing forums the same as BTT, at least in my experience.

I couldn't find any email notifications bottom, does anyone know where they are?

I think this forum is working on a modified SMF version based on 2.1.4 (I'm not sure), but if you upgrade to version 2.1, the Mentions feature is available.

If there is high demand for this feature, it may be integrated.

Yes! I had read the version somewhere and it was actually 2.1.4 but I don't remember and I find where I read it, too bad because to always be connected with the topics that interest you, notifications are important

As for your question, I don't know! I haven't found anywhere how to enable email notifications

For those that are familiar with the telegram bot notification on bitcointalk platform which was developed by tryninja as mentioned earlier is someworth applicable here if the admin of this platform decides to give it a try or tryninja teleports here to become active as a member. He might decide to develop the Telegram notification bot for the platform and that would be very much appreciated but however, of the admin can contact tryninja to do that, it is also a good move. As for me, I am already familiar with the platform notification system so that does not seems to worrisome to me.

As examplens said above, the problem is that we are too used to the telegram notification which obviously is the best form of notification. Honestly, it is difficult to browse this large forum without a notification board.

As you suggesting we go plead to tryninja to come here? I am sure he is aware that here exists. Probably we could see him here next year. But then, the question is if his services will be allowable by the admin.

there are other notifications services, such as Loyce's, which doesnt even use telegram.

It’s very good if you bring this issue of notification to our attention. I don’t even know if there is something like this here too, although I have been wondering if there will be software we can be using, like BitcoinTalk, anytime there is a new thread or someone mentions you. We will always like to know so that we will read what they have said or been posted in the new thread.

However, I think this one you posted is not for all boards; I think it is just for maybe a single thread that when someone posts, we will see because it won’t be easy to browse the forum, so I think if we have such a notification here, it will be good and helpful too.
