Title: Forum ads needs to be responsible
Post by: examplens on December 22, 2023, 10:58:13 PM
theymos' ban on mixers is definitely making changes on both forums. I see that another mixer has joined here, Mixtum.
But admin, you have to make this banner responsive, because it looks very bad on different resolutions. I don't know how it was solved earlier and whether the SMF forum script allows it, but here is a new task for devs.

For users, mobile phones have the same problems that you said. We have to wait for an admin to fix this issue.

Yes, I saw that the width goes from 1000 to 700, but it should not remain fixed for all resolutions.

I saw that there was some discussion about an automatic "second" post with rules on each page, plus this post with a smiley  :) Perhaps it would be possible to think about improving it. It is quite monotonous and tiring, Honestly, I'd rather watch an ad instead.
Well, maybe a little more discreet presentation of the rules, along with the bb-coded signature space for rent, might be an acceptable solution.

with the set of rules repeating over and over, and you would still find a lot of people that do not follow them

Now it looks great. Well done  ;)

Given that my suggestion has been resolved, should I lock this thread (and prevent unnecessary spam) or should it remain open?
I don't care if the admin locks it for the same reason, I'm asking more about the habits on this forum.

Even if they do not follow the rules, this is what negative karma and bans are for! As responsible users, we will utilize our tool (negative karma), and you, as an admin, could utilize your power. I understand that you don't want to be harsh with new users. But, as I shared the idea in another thread, I would propose it here again to get your attention.

These banners of rules should disappear once a member reaches a certain rank, considering that they have spent enough time to know about these rules. Similar to the newbie warning on the Bitcointalk forum. If they still violate the forum rules, they deserve to get negative karma and even a temporary ban.

Given that my suggestion has been resolved, should I lock this thread (and prevent unnecessary spam) or should it remain open?

I would request you to keep it open since the admin is already engaged in this thread, we might get an answer from him regarding these ads thing.
