Title: Who Else Have Noticed this?
Post by: Fivestar4everMVP on December 26, 2023, 03:42:28 PM
I have been meaning to ask this question for more than three weeks now, but I've not had  the time to create a thread, but today, I have some time, so here.

I believe you all must have noticed that each time you post a comment on a thread, that is, after you finish typing and you click the "post" button, as the page loads, you will be returned back to the board page of the thread you just posted on - I hope this is clear enough.

Possibly, the system was configured this way because it thinks that since you have commented on the chosen thread, you need or may be willing to chose another thread to comment on.

But personally, I find this feature to be an error because, I like to read my comment again after posting it, in order to find and correct errors if any, retuning me to the board page only makes me open the thread I just commented again in order to re-read my comment.

I feel it would be better and more convenient for users if we are taken straight to our comment upon posting, which means, users leave the thread on their own when they are done there.

Who else have noticed this and thinks same?.

You can manage that in your profile:

How to return to topic after posting?

click: profile > modify profile > look and layout > check : Return to topics after posting by default.

This is surely a FAQ

Wow, thank you very much to coming through with this guide, this is really really helpful and I sincerely appreciate it.

I really didnt know that that which I complained about was something that could be adjusted through setting, I actually thought that it is the way the forum system was programmed to function, I guess I should have created the thread to be more like me asking a question on how to get that done, than pointing it out as an error and asking that it be fixed.

Anyways, I will just go into my settings right about now and have this fixed for good, thanks once again to you and the admin for coming through.

I was just about to ask about this but decied to check it first if anyone else complained about it.

Imho, this feature should be enabled by default as its really annoying to be kicked out of topic after posting and I can't say I've seen something like on any of the forums in my 20+ years "career".

I agree, although i'm not really a poster that will create a thread the same like to this to complain but i agree what you've said. Because it's unreasonable to kick you back to the board after posting when the first thing you have to do is to read back what you have posted. I've been forum user since symbianize forum (phones before android is a thing) if people knows it, and it's been like a decade if i'm right but this is the first forum i have encountered with such feature.
