Title: Request for adding up the 2FA in ATT :)
Post by: Crypto Library on December 29, 2023, 07:18:28 PM
I think security does a big matter, Now I really want to know what is the plan of altcoin talk forum with 2FA?
Surely 2FA security system is very important to get rid of hacking.

I don't think its that necessary
They have been operating without it including Bitcointalk for a long time.
Besides unlike Bitcointalk they make use of email verification.

It's very early to jump on this. It's good though if we have it here but there are more pressing issues here that I will like to see than this one. I want to see something like:

-Draft for back up posts so that when we are making post and preview, we can see it in our folder. Imagine writing and then network flip and then the page refreshes, that means your entire type words are gone and you have to restart again. This will change your entire structure from the first statement.

- I have raised the issue of notification of a particular post just like that Telegram to help do a lot of conversation. It doesn't make sense when you make a post and you a reply but you don't even know until you visit "show new replies to posts" and you have to do extra work to see the particular replies. It's something I know admins can do and it will be helpful and will make interaction make sense even more.

More important updates are needed here than 2fa which will be updated gradually. Notification bot, karma giving or receiving system visible, activity for 14 days, etc. etc. will be updated only when time is up.

Especially the notification very vital. When I make a post it's hard for me to locate where I was tagged especially if there exists lots of reply.
About the Karma system maybe there's a reason it was left invisible because old members should have brought it out.

With all of the forum requests features, this should be at the very least in the list. Despite that this will take time to develop, there are more much important feature than this, just like the notification bot. People should just secure their account by having strong and long password for the meantime.

Yes 2FA is much needed security feature which should be added in this forum but still lot of feature we are missing here and I hope admin is working one by one to work on it. Altcointalk has one extra step for security as we have to verify email when signing up so in case if we write wrong mail then we will be notified because we will not receive mail.

So far 2fa not added we have to be careful with our account and try to keep password complex, not easy to crack. Further more if we have access of email then we can recover back our account easily.

It looks like we have to be more patient waiting for the admin to slowly upgrade this forum.
After the Mixer project was moved to Att, it experienced an increase in traffic and many requests from several other members.

Admin seems to be working hard on this.

Let them first fix basic issues I see every day, and later we can talk about adding 2FA.
I think they first need to upgrade servers for altcoinstalks forum because I am getting more error messages like 503 service unavailable,
not sure if they can handle increased number of new members and potential stronger DDOS attacks.

It will eventually come if we receive a lot of hacking reports I tried to find the thread where we can stake our address if there is one I hope someone sends the link here if we still do not have a thread for that I guess we need to create one to verify our account in case of a hack, I'll see a lot of activities now unlike before so I'm sure the admin will implement a way to verify one's account.

I absolutely agree with adding 2FA to the forum. Another layer of security can ever be too much, so why not? It's a good practice because the ways hackers come up with to steal our information is getting more and more complex, so 2FA will always be welcome!

2FA is great, staking addresses to secure account are cool too... but as teleport users, it's good for us to understand and appreciate the differences between forum systems. We all know that admins and moderators from one forum to another are different, so adapt to where you stand.

I'm not discouraging discussions about forum innovations. Clearly, that will make the forum better is good for me too. But, at least, don't burden the admin by suggesting multiple changes at once. We're in altcointalk now, not bitcointalk (for teleported users).

Let's adapt and not complain like little kids. It takes time, but I believe wise teleporta users won't take long to adjust and find their place.

Indeed hacking is a big problem, any high reputation can be taken away only by irresponsible people, committing crimes even though the purpose is forum, seeking knowledge but stealing other people's intellectual property, sad.
==========================
If A2fa is effective enough, is the recovery process safe when the email and authenticator used are also likely to be hacked?
Or is it possible to sign messaging in altcoin wallets like technical in the next forum?

2FA security is indeed important for a forum, but the problem is that there must be a developer who can integrate into the altcoinstalks forum, see me how 2FA is implemented on the bitcointalk forum it takes a long time after almost 90% work then it can be implemented so I think it is still very difficult on altcoinstalk.

Now if you want security on the account then it comes back to the individual how to secure it, because I see some problems still exist as a basis, so wait until it runs I think if this forum continues to be crowded then someday there must be progress.

I don't think that's really necessary here for now. We should focus more on making the forum active and pray that some generous members are able to design some bots to make posting easier here on the forum. Just like others said, the forum security works well and upon registration you are asked to verify. That's even better compared to btt where you can register an account with an invalid Gmail.
