Title: Do not gamble in front of children
Post by: Altcoin1998$ on January 01, 2024, 06:20:50 AM
Gambling is a serious addiction especially those who get involved in this serious addiction cannot easily get rid of the addiction. There are many gamblers in our society who become addicted to gambling in front of small children, in this case the children are mentally attracted to those forbidden games. At some point, children imitate all these addictions in themselves in such a way that later they themselves become professional gamblers. Many school going boys in my area have become big gamblers especially those boys whose fathers have a history of gambling too. So for the time being Guardians should not be addicted to gambling in front of small children.

Gambling can have a devastating effect on children. I have seen many people in our area lose their wealth through gambling. They used to gamble in front of their children. Still his children eagerly imitated the parents but without any money. In the future they have become total gamblers. At present they are so addicted to gambling that they end up selling their land but spending money on gambling and incurring huge losses. So you should never gamble in front of children. And if they are going to do these things then they must be restrained from these things so that the future generations can be saved from them and its harmful effects cannot have any effect on them.

In my opinion Protecting kids from gaming exposure is very essential. Gambling addiction has the power to profoundly affect young minds causing them to emulate similar actions and potentially develop a major addiction in the future. I think It is imperative for parents and guardians to abstain from gambling activities in front of their children in order to shield them from detrimental impacts and avoid encouraging these bad habits.

I assume those boys are still minors. If someone is still attending school, it generally suggests that they are below the age limit required for gambling. If they have developed a habit of gambling despite being underage, it may imply that there are no strict regulations in your area for minors attempting to gamble.

Parents shouldn't gamble in front of their children, however, for a more effective prevention of gambling among the younger generation, strict enforcement of restrictions on underage gambling is necessary.

Yes, guardians are the only ones responsible for preventing children from gambling. If they can be aware of their children then surely they can ensure the future of their children. They should understand their children about gambling and educate children about the dangers of gambling. Be aware of how gambling negatively affects people socially. As guardians they must be aware of where and what their children are doing. They should be aware that their children do not get addicted to prohibited substances, liquor, alcohol etc.

Yes it is very important topic. Because some times We have been making this mistake subconsciously. Children's are valuable assets for any country even for a family. But when we made this mistake infront them, It's negative impact creating on them. So we have to more careful about gamble infront of children.

Because gambling is very dangerous habit. When a man addicted on gambling then he fell unconscious. So we should always careful about it.

The situation with children and gambling can be understood in two ways. First, they are to young to be involved in adults money oriented life. They dont understand value of money and make reckless decisions. They can be cheated by much elder kids or adults. On the other hand, gambling (card games for example) can be used for teaching math. Gambling can be a fun game to kill time. All depends on how you present and position gambling for kids. If it is for fun, then that isnt bad thing to show them. If it is a process to get money, then they are to young for such knowledge.

Gambling in front of children is prohibited by State laws and that is why children are even prohibited from gambling. There is an age restriction for gambling depending on the country and the type of gambling but most countries have it at 18 and others 21 meaning that it is illegal for a person below 18 years or below 21 to gamble as the case may be.

Owing to the above, gambling in front of a child is even illegal because gambling is addictive and children tend to emulate whatever they see since they are not mature enough to know the implications of such addiction. Records have it that children who grow up in a gambling-ridden environment tend to embrace gambling so early in life even before attaining the legal age for gambling. This same group of people can easily become so toxic due to the pain and mental disturbance that comes from losing a bet.

Conclusively, gambling in the front of children is wrong and is a crime that should be looked into and a punitive measure should prescribed for those found wanting.

A responsible adult or a parent who values the life and well-being of children wouldn't like to gamble in front of kids. But the society we live in seems to forget that, we have kids around us watching the things we do.

Gambling has turned out to be a global phenomenon that every locality now has and people can also have online access to them easily.

With the so called aim of making money through gambling, a father, or a grown-up adult does gamble in front of kids without minding the negative impacts or message they are passing on to the kids.

Nowadays, you will now see a young boy not up to 18 years, old predicting a team that would win or lose in a given match.

This is amongst the numerous reasons why gamblers are advised to gamble responsibly.   As a responsible parent, you should never make the mistake of doing such in the presence of your kids because kids are very much curious about everything they see someone doing not to talk of when it involves their parents or they see their parents doing such often. As kids they are, without thinking the repercussion of it, they would want to give it a try  and in the cause of doing such, they become addicted to it and constantly engaging in such without their parents knowledge. It is very dangerous if they should start such at their early age and have no o control without their parents guidance.

Adult are suppose to be an example to the younger generations, kids are very sharp in grabbing things, they tend to grow up with the things they see growing up for instances if it’s a family that loves hunting and probably going for fishing from time to time. The kid will end up exhibiting this habit when his grown. some people are just to carried away and out of conscience to even notice that they are doing too much, gambling in front of kids is just way too much for me. That is not setting good example and that is a problem.
Such act is a sign of addiction, because something you have no control and conscience for is pure addiction and the earlier the realization the better.  We should be able to control ourselves and not being controlled.

As a mother one thing I understood from children is that they don't just look at what are we doing but they are imitators and replicate whatever we are doing after we might have left them in an idle mood or in a lonely place they surely practice everything we are doing, that is why is not encouraging to gamble in the front of our children or having any deal in front them as they will easily pick it up from you. As a gambler it is advisable we don't disclosed any irrelevant secrete to them and remain hidden for their future sake.

One of the scenarios that I noticed around my area is that in the market there are minors doing gambling, even better than me because I dont know how they play it. This is the result of their parents also playing those kinds of gambling games that those kids are watching, and even though they just think that it is a game, later on they start to bet money on it. The worst case is that as they grow up, they learn more and gamble harder which makes them very prone to addiction and just relying on gambling.

You are very much correct. Children are very curious about anything and everything they come in contact with. They do not have that idea or knowledge to know what is bad or what is good. What ever they see any elderly person around them do be it their parents or not they would like to imitate what they have seen and heard and they do not care about the consequences of their actions because they have no experience of what it feels like to do what they have seen.

That is why when ever they are alone, they practice what ever they have seen their parents or guardians doing in their presence. This is the reasons why people are advised not to do everything in the sight of their children because they watch and copy their actions. So therefore, the issue of children gambling must have been the outcome of what their parents or guardians do in their presence and they must have picked it up from them.

Children will directly imitate what you do in front of the child. If you scold a lot in front of children from childhood, then children will use those scoldings from then or if you make them in a very nice environment, then they will develop very nicely. You live in your family and while living in the family you openly discuss gambling in front of the children. For the first few days you may think that discussing gambling is not affecting my children badly but when you regularly discuss gambling in front of them you may find that at some point they question you about it which is never good for a child. If the child is affected by gambling at a young age, the child will never grow up normally, so even if you gamble, it is better not to discuss it in front of the children.

What do you mean by "never grow up normally". Gambling is not a disease. That is not something that person gets infected with and it does not harm health nor shorten life.

We do lots of things in front of children, including gambling, but still each of them grow up with own interests and as an individual. I know that this is not recommended to gamble in front of children that are easy to impress positively and negatively. Most important is to teach then that they should not gamble when they are short in money and they should not gamble to solve that.

I don't subscribe to the opinion that everyone who is involved in gambling is, or will be, addicted to it. It's as silly as saying that everyone who drinks alcohol is an alcoholic.
But 100% agree on being a good example to your kids. Raising children is not about what you say to them, but what you're showing them with your own life.
You want them to grow up to be good people? Become one yourself first.

People can speculate with "children will be like their parents". If parents gamble, children will gamble as well. But that does not always happen. However I did not get your idea of "showing with own life" instead of saying something. Showing example is good, but what do you plan to show ? Show how you gamble? Show how you not gamble? Imo the best way of raising children is explaining everything to them. Explaining what might or might not happen if they gamble, how things can go, what can happen. Otherwise it looks strange to stop gambling only because kid would see it. It would be strange to gamble also without explaining why we do it.

I agree, children are in a clean slate and it has been said that a child's mind is a tabularasa which means that what the child sees is what fills the mind of the child. A child sometimes cannot question the good or bad of an action hence they believe that everything does by an adult is right and worthy of emulation. This makes it improper to gamble in the front of children since they will certainly copy that behavior on the ground that it is a good practice.

I'm totally inline with what you said, children have a very soft brain, which is vast and fast in taking in what is seen and said, Children wants to copy everything their parents do,because they believe whatever their parents do is the best, but they do not know that most parents really are babies and do not know what they are doing.Parents who gamble infront of their children are ruining their children's future, and would regret the actions of their their children when they grow big.
The worst thing that someone can do to any child is by introducing him or her into gambling, because from that day,his money will no longer be saved.

How would you tell your children why you gamble though? Is it really wise to tell them when they're just 8 years old and explain that their parents find enjoyment in gambling? I'm not sure how it would affect their development. If they associate risk-taking activity like gambling, wouldn't they just use that as a rationale to do the same thing even though in reality they don't have the capacity (capital or others) to do so?

On the other hand, some reports show that the majority of children/teenagers who do gambling know that it is dangerous for them[1]. The majority of them also stated that their parents prefer them not to gamble at all. I'd like to believe that if their parents are doing the same activity, the chance for children to follow them will increase regardless of what their parents tell them. The good news is less than 5% of children in the research activity are deemed as problem gamblers or at risk of being one.

Here in our country, it's considered a crime if you let minors play or you are intentionally gambling in front of your kids, it is considered corruption of minors, and there's a fine attached to it, there are a lot of laws in our country that protect the welfare of minors, because we see minors as the future of our nation, so our lawmakers made sure that the minors are protected and all the gambling platforms here in our country like the lottery they post the sign that they do not allow minors within their premises.

I remember with the best quote "like father like son", can imagine when gamble in front of children they will allow with our habit, better don't gamble in front of our children and keep minimize with computer or mobile phone desktop in front of them when position active on gambling.
Some countries, gambling is illegal activities although make it have fun only but its not good thing to show for our children, they are still on young age and better teach them good thing and as father have show them the best and good attitude for them in the future.

I remember a time when my little came visiting and during that time my elder sibling was still at home and he has the habit of always saying curse words – and to our surprise before my cousin left for his parents house he also started saying curse words like my elder brother did and the same can be said about gambling, we could just look at them and be like; he’s still a little kid there’s nothing he can do about it but in his mind he’s already trying to practice it and put it to the test and when he gets his hands on a device he’ll surely be interested to take a peep at a gambling site.

There are things I don’t do around kids, which include gambling, spending money lavishly and also insulting others they tend to easily pick up that kind of habit.

There are many parents who often make this mistake. In fact, young children's brains are so sharp that they can grasp anything as soon as they see it, so never gamble or engage in immoral activities in front of young children. Like your society we have many gamblers whose gambling addiction has had a severe impact on their children. So we change the nature of those who have such a nature and make our children as human beings.

There's a saying that children learn faster, which is true, and any reasonable guidance or parents would not want to gamble so hard in their kids presence to the extent of converting the children to gamblers at a young age. Gambling is usually for people under 18+ and therefore parents should be mindful of how they expose gambling related stuffs to their kinds.

A child's intelligence develops so quickly that he learns very quickly what he sees from the environment. In particular, what a child's parents do has a 75% chance of developing in the child. If a child's parents are addicted to gambling, that child has a 100 percent chance of becoming addicted to gambling. Again, children are curiously interested in all forbidden things, especially if alcohol and beedi can be consumed in front of a child, then that child will become interested in forbidden goods. So one should not play alcohol, giza, cigarettes and cards in front of a child out of curiosity because by seeing these a child learns to master them in himself and later he becomes a full-fledged gambler.

Gambling may occasionally ruin life, and kids learn up lessons from what they witness. To be more specific, anything that can lead to addiction is not something that parents should do in front of their kids. Examples of such things are drinking, smoking, gambling, and explicit content.

Early gambling exposure can have a number of detrimental consequences on children, including a lack of understanding of the risks of gambling addiction and difficulties controlling emotions and taking preventative measures to avoid addiction.

Gambling is frowned upon in society, these gamblers should never gamble in front of children. A person who gambles becomes addicted and can never get rid of gambling. So such games should not be gambled in front of young children because they can become addictive, and will lose focus in studies. Basically young children will be at the reading table if they become addicted to gambling and will continue to destroy the next generation. As gambling leads to the destruction of the next generation, such games should not be brought before young children and therefore gambling is prohibited in the society.

Children learn by observation mostly and not necessarily what you ask them to do or not to do. If a child grows up and finds out that his or her parents are serious gamblers and they derived fun from gambling and also makes some money from gambling, there is little or no chance that that child will not be a serious gambler.

This is why the government of every nation if I am not mistaken has In one way or the other prohibited gambling for underage children. Gambling is a risky type of business and only those who are able to earn and have the ability to make their independent decisions and also embrace the consequences of their decisions should be allowed to gamble. The sanity of children should be preserved until they are of age to know the difference between good and bad.

Gambling is never a problem if all the things and rules that governs it is followed and also same logic follows for drugs, smoking and drinking. The thing is that these things are meant to be used to a certain limit whereas anyone who goes beyond that limit then abuses it use and the results now makes it destructive to the person , I mean even the holy book said drink but drink to be a fool and these things are not meant to be practice among young mind like that of the children because of how fragile it is and that's when the negative effect takes in.

Gambling being exposed to children at a tender age is very bad because even an adult find it difficult to stop such then talk more a child who grew up with the habit being installed in his brain, you can only imagine the damage it will have done to him if it hadn't been to an obsessive addict.

This is very correct and this is so because children cannot decipher the implication of any behaviour exhibited by his/her parents/guardian and so belief that every behaviour put forward by his/her guardian is a good behaviour.

Children learn and register attitude through what they see and when they are expose to a gambling environment they cannot easily copy such attitude and since they are too young to control certain things it becomes difficult to control the worries and sadness that comes from losing a bet. By implication, they tend to show characters that are not encouraged by societies.

Gambling is never a problem if all the things and rules that governs it is followed and also same logic follows for drugs, smoking and drinking. The thing is that these things are meant to be used to a certain limit (...)

This whole thread is about setting good examples for children, or, at very least, not exposing them to bad examples.
So an adult father might not be breaking any rules by gambling, even when he does so in front of the children, but that still has a negative effect on them.
Rules and laws are not perfect and it's best to apply common sense as well.

Yes, because parents are role models for their children and also the children in their environment. Children are very reliable examples, especially if they are still small and cannot yet explore on their own or take their own initiative. Usually they will be interested and do something that they are used to seeing around them. and if they see it continuously then it will be embedded in their memory which will last there for a long time.

That's why it's best not to gamble in front of our children because after all our children may still not be able to do it and may not even be ready to be involved here. and at least we should limit their knowledge about gambling at an early age until they are really ready and really understand what gambling is like. This is to reduce risks from an early age and make things wiser in the future.

Precisely. Unfortunately people either don't put much thought into raising their own children or think that it's enough to *tell* them what's right and wrong, what to do, and what to avoid. The reality is harsh, all the talking is in vain if you don't lead by example and don't have your life in order.

This same topic have been discussed on another forum which is btt, and I will still hold same opinion as I held on btt, gambling in front of your kids have no effect on them, and this is because at their tender age, their brains aren't well developed enough to differentiate between a gambling game and a video game, so, let's say for example , you are playing a slot game, there are so many slot-game-like video games on Google play store and iPhone app store you can download and give your kids to play, and they will think they are playing exactly the same game they saw you playing the other day.

What I have to say is that, children who grow up to become gamblers mostly get into it through their friends mostly in schools or in the area where they live, so as a parent, you can hide your gambling activities from your kids all you want, but if you do not monitor the kind of friends your children keep ot follow, they will still grow up to become gamblers under your nose.

That's right, from the outside the main factor is not the actual parents, just crazy parents who deliberately gamble in front of their children,
as parents we must often communicate to our children what their activities are outside and if they have already gambled before becoming addicted, we are constantly warned of the dangers they will experience in the future if they are addicted to gambling. Examples can be taken of people who have fallen into poverty and been ruined because of gambling.

Many factors are pushing young people into gambling. Copying their parents' behaviour is one of them and friends' influence is another. But it's still better to not gamble in front of the kids. It won't be 100% effective in keeping them away, but at leat it will reduce the risk of them getting hooked in.
On second thought, maybe instead of hiding that from them, it would be better to explain what gambling is, what is the house edge, why they're almost guaranteed to lose in the long run, and how addictive and destructive it can be when you lose self-control.

I have seen many fathers who smoke in front of their children, not only smoking in front of the child but smoking in front of the whole family as if it is normal for them. In this case, smoking is doing more harm to the person than it is to his child while he is indifferent about it. A person who can smoke in front of his family and children may not discuss gambling in front of his children.  Those who have little family education or who have little idea about it do this kind of work. A lot of work can be done even if various information is kept secret. Discussing gambling in front of the child should be discussed in a way that benefits the child rather than harming the child.

The example with smoking is not the best and instantly a good example. What about people, who smoke, but no one smoked in their family ever smoked. There cases like you have mentioned - a family member smoke in front or whole family like it is nothing, but children get no addiction to smoking. They only get familiar with smell of smoke. People that surrond matter. Not family, but those who are same age or in same group (same schoil class for example).

Despite addiction and money problem, what other bad things can gambling cause? Kids have addiction to candies, yet parents still buy them. Kids dont have problems with money, as parents are their bank accounts. You have said that gambling is a game of excitement, then why kids arent privileged for excitement?

Imo it will be wrong to claim that gambling is something bad and totally not for the kids. It will be also wrong to claim completely opposite. Imagine situation. Parents taught that gambling is bad, kids turns into adult, is looking for a job and there is a vacant position at the casino. What should kid to? Leave that chance or use it?

Parents, ask yourself, what was the last thing you did in front of children, and what was their reaction. Did they get interested in it or continued being busy doing their own things?

The education of children is very complicated, sometimes the things shown or not shown to them turn out to be harmful, I couldn't say if it is good or not, I think and affirm that depending on the age of the children, things must be shown as they are. so that at one point without our supervision they get to know those things and suddenly get in there and start doing inappropriate things, like children, they can get into phones, tablets, the internet for them is like water for a fish, they know a lot, and it's something for which they handle very well, we as parents must be attentive and guide them.

In this sense I can say that when we are watching any type of thing on the internet, and if they are present, we must explain, the casino is a site for adults, because it has to do with money, something that a child should not have access to, You always have to explain it to them in such a way that when they see it they are not tempted to do it.

Children have a way of copying whatever it is they see and you wouldn't notice that they are actually emulating your characters and actions. Asides from gambling they shouldn't be exposed to whatever might have a negative effect on them, gambling has a lot of negative impacts on the Brain and if children are exposed to it at such a young age they might start picking up other strange habits like stealing, lying and so on. Keep your gambling life to yourself, it's advised to bet online and In private so your kids won't have an idea of what you are doing at their tender age. Train them up in the right way

They are not old enough to understand what gambling is, and when they know about gambling when they don't understand it, it will have a bad impact on them.

I agree with you, that it is better to avoid them from something that will change their concentration, especially if they are in their developing age and they should not know something before they are old enough. We as parents must be able to know what should and should not be done in front of them.

children imitate what they see even if they don’t actually understand yet what they are doing if you gamble in front of children they are going to grow up thinking this is normal and common and that there’s no consequences in gambling since the parents do it all the time anyway

That's how responsible adults should do, regardless if its gambling or not, as long it's not appropriate for their age, it should always be no. Explain thing/stuff where a child can understand, adults should and let the child play instead.

Since gambling addiction is related to irresponsibility and indiscriminate urge to gamble I think the issue with gambling in front of a kid doesn't matter to the said gambling addict because of the fact that gambling has taken over his mind therefore he is out of control.

That is why it’s being advice to go far away from them when you want to gamble - preferably build a private room and make sure they never enter into it and use it for your gambling activity, that way you won’t have to bother about them walking to you during your gambling session since you’ve made arrangements to fortify yourself from them.

A thing that should be considered especially when dealing with children is that they are sensitive and alert in everything that is happening around them. They are also many other things in life which also needs to be arranged so that they do not harm them, including how to deal with conflict, how to control emotions and even how to make routine decisions. This they take and develop their world view, as children continue to observe what goes on in their homes. Ensuring its environment is filled with positive role models helps them be adults with very strong moral and emotional direction.

Actually, children are like soft clay, just as soft clay can be given any shape, whatever you teach children in their childhood will manifest even after they grow up. Now if you teach good things to children then they will grow up to express good things and if you teach children bad things to them then it will affect their future.
I'm not calling gambling bad or saying it's anything bad, but underaged gambling is definitely a bad activity and I think gambling in front of them means teaching them to gamble or encouraging them to gamble. And I do not consider it acceptable in any way

You can hide the fact that you gamble from your children because they are immature, but do not hide the information that there is something called gambling to them because if you hide it, they will find out from another person or another means and that can be more dangerous. Tell them about gambling and give them an orientation of the dangers involved with it. Your children can still be non gamblers if even if you an irresponsible gambling.

I have realized that most of the time, it is not a parent's advice that causes a person to be well-behaved, but rather the advice the person gives himself. Even if you warn a child about the dangers of gambling, the child will still gamble if he wants to. It should be noted that a child's behavior is influenced not only by his parents but also by his peers and the things he sees.

For example, some children have been told not to smoke because it is bad, and even with the inscription "smokers are liable to die young," they continue to smoke and have even become chain smokers, despite parental warnings. Similarly, some children were warned about the risks associated with premarital sex. Despite this, they continue to indulge.

This demonstrates that humans are more concerned with doing what they want and refraining from doing things that do not suit them, rather than not doing because they were advised or shown the dangers of doing them.

Most children see the adults around them as their role models and they tend to learn and emulate them

Kids will get used to the environment that they are living so if they have a father who is an Gambling addict they might see it's just a part of their life, one who is dealing with addiction should not have a kid around because it can create psychological impact that can even last forever. And kids should be able to enjoy their childhood instead of facing the struggles of their family but it doesn't mean they should not know their situation.

Exactly, Culture in which children are raised is a defining factor of their outlook on life, and their philosophy. I always insisted on it that every family is unique and has its own problems, the most important thing is to provide the conditions for the child to make him or her feel protected and cherished. If there are problems to solve, facing and looking for the solutions is a chance to help children think that they are not the only ones facing them. Giving them an example by modelling appropriate behaviour extends to showing them that they possess the ability to transform things for the better. Hearing this quote, everyone wants to give the childhood that a child deserves with curiosity, joy and have a big responsibility of building the future of a child.

Learning could neither because of self curiosity, influence by other people whether on their parents or with friends or strangers on which there are tons of possible ways or possibilities on which this will really be that causing up for you to get involved with it and since kids or young minds are really that prone to easily believe on things on which they can be able to encounter specially if curiosity kicks in then it will be that likely that they do make out such engagement because out of that interest on trying it out because of having that curiosity in mind. So as a parent then watching up our kids and make some educative approach towards gambling will be that ideal or recommended.

In addition to educative approach, parents could make conditions for their child, when gambling could bring no or little possible harm. What all parents are afraid of when they hear children and gambling? Or what is one of main problems of gambling? People get greedy while trying to earn and lose money. Make a situation or condition, when child is not dependable from money, and he would look on gambling from different perspective. Gambling will be entertainment and not a money source. And that is it, biggest problem is solved.

"Because it is not a good step" is not a reason. You should give a more open and wide answer. Saying gambling is bad or gambling is good does not mean anything. You are also not sure in your prediction. It might lead to stealing, and it might not. Gambling might lead to stealing for example only if they get interested seriously in gambling and lose all the money. What if they give zero interest to it? Or win? Then your theory does not work. Moreover, if you have children, you must have done various things in front of them, and I am million percent sure that not everything you did, they followed or copied. Then how can you be sure that they will start gambling and stealing after seeing someone gamble?

Gambling is not a forbidden game, and it's not illegal.  It's a personal thing that people indulge themselves into for profit and loss. Gambling is addictive,  especially where one has won multiple times or lost many times,  because you may want to win. But playing it in front of children can make them not to be focus in life. Pursuing riches, wealth through gambling at early age, without learning how to work hard and become successful through their Profesional careers. It is dangerous to play it before children.  But it requires discipline on the part of guardians and parents to avoid playing it before their children.

Some parents lack this discipline and therefore gamble in front of their children. I have even seen a father check a betting ticket with his 15-year-old son, and he occasionally sends this boy to a betting shop to stake his game. This demonstrates how reckless some fathers can be.

The truth is that this boy will develop an interest in gambling as he becomes more familiar with the betting environment. Just a win for his father, and you will see the boy gambling because he will see betting as a lucrative activity, motivating him to gamble as well.

So for the time being Guardians should not be addicted to gambling in front of small children.
when gambling there should be a level of self control and caution that people should have and one of such precautions that is actually needed is not to gamble in front of your children or even in a place where children are located this is because children don't know anything yet and it's what they see their parents and elderly once doing that they follow and Copy while growing up

One thing we need to be take note is that children learn subconsciously so everything that is done before them is being registered on their subconscious mind and if it continues the probability of these little once displaying such characters is high so we should always take note of this fact and always control our gambling habits and don't even talk about gambling in front of children

This is indeed a face-palm moment of parenting, even if we can say that it looks like a father playing game, an innocent mind will ask questions related to this activity and thus will learn the how-tos if regularly expose to the gambling environment. I can still consider if the father is using the phone and just tapping to make bets as it looks like a game and a child will just taught it's the way it is. But still, adults should be mindful.

Online activities do not actually impact or influence children unless someone is watching explicit content in front of them, as they are more moved by what they hear and physical activities. Aside from casino games, someone could be betting on sports, and the kids would have no idea what it was.

There are some home activities that have an impact on children, but gambling on your phone in front of them has no effect.

You look on the situation from perspective that child get addicted and interested in everything what parents do. But that is not true. Children copy our behavior, that is a fact, but they dont it 100% copy/paste. I rarely see children being interested in cooking, cleaning, earning money at regular work, do repairs - all the activities adults do 24/7. Children might show a little interest, but their impatience and wish to learn and try new forces them to drop trying what parents do.

You know, it is hard to discuss this topic when posters here are divided into parents with young childre/parents with grown up children (or at least teeagers or those who about to turn 18/theorists. Theorists dominate in the topics like this. Love to operate with "if" or "might" words and use them as 100% probability of things to happen.

Yes, that's why we must keep them from what they can see and try as much as possible not to let them know, especially if they are not yet underage.

However, if they are ready to accept it, then we must also tell them what gambling is, but that doesn't mean we show them directly that we also gamble. But what I mean is they must know everything, because at their age which is already a teenager and has begun to know the outside life, then it can be more dangerous when they know from the outside while they don't know what the impact is like.

You're giving obvious examples that of course children don't actually wants. Who wants to go work at early age, no one, but there are some, from those unfortunate families, and they are different topic in here. We are talking of gambling games in mobiles phones that looks like just a normal phone games that even a normal child can learn and see it as normal games, can you understand that?

gambling in the front of children is very bad, because is not a good step for them to follow,it might leads them to steal to partake in it,and as well frustrate them.
In reality, they will not understand the value of losing money. If they lose money, they will try again until they lost all, and then they can lie to someone they know. Sometimes, if some minors cannot control their addiction to gambling, they will not hesitate to commit crimes like theft. That is why no one should gamble In front of children. As of lately children are so clever that if they can somehow just see the name of a site, they can find that site easily.

Playing in front of the children at home is something that has to be done with the utmost responsibility. Things are different with children now. On the one hand, if they read, they have to be told the game and the dangers so that they become aware. Otherwise, sooner or later, they will be around someone, friends, people who don't care, because they will see and it will make them curious So, as parents, we currently have to speak to them and tell them many things , because now everything in the world is very lost.

Indeed, the thirst is like that, when children never see or know their parents playing gambling, then it should be safe. But if they see it once and know that their parents really enjoy it, then it will trigger them to be curious.

and moreover, currently, the problem is that there are many online gambling that do promotions and advertisements in various media, especially maybe there are also those on regular game sites, which are actually also dangerous for children. because we know that children are very easy to operate gadgets, they can learn very quickly. so, we still have to be vigilant and monitor the various actions of our children, it will be much more helpful to prevent it, although it may not be 100%.

Trying to educate children, or at least involve them in learning about things which can influence them is a part of work that must be done, especially in the setting full of stimuli. Basically, if children are to be taught the truth about the dangers and implications of behaviour they are being equipped with the means to accept the right thing. Educating them from childhood with relevant knowledge the shield themselves from worst circumstances befalls them. It also demonstrates that we are concerned about their future, and that they get adequate information to improve their decisions. If we support them and guide them in the right way we can in a way help build a good base for them to combat the odds of this world.

If it is a fact, now these things are worrying, but not as worrying as those who say that a boy can be a girl and many more things like that, what they do is confuse them, then these things I totally disagree , where the least danger that I see is that they can enter casinos to gamble, then I see this that way, the world is giving many freedoms without respecting the time of day which is where Children are commonly watching TV, watching the news, then if we have to show them how this is , how one should gamble and why they can't gamble, it is Better to educate them.

indeed, children are very inquisitive and eager to learn things, good and sometimes bad, so it is completely up to use to equip them with the knowledge that will instill good morals and behaviour in them. a lot of people often feel like the best thing for their children is to warn them against gambling, rather than educating them on the dangers of gambling addiction, especially for those youngsters who have already gained some exposure and insight about gambling.
because when we fil to educate them, they will definitely seek that knowledge elsewhere, and should they meet the wrong source that will give them the wrong knowledge about gambling, then they will definitely grow up with that misconception and likely live with it for the rest of their lives.

I agree with you completely. Children consider their parents and other adults around them as their role models, they imitate them and try to replicate all they do in terms of dressing, hairstyle, choice of words and I think gambling is no exception.

So even if the adult is doing the wrong the thing to them it seems correct but while to the adults it's wrong that is why we  must learn to control our choice of words, action and whatever we do be it openly or secretly, because they are watching and could pick those things as option or what to keep saying/doing.
Children are easily prone to the wrong things from their parents, so it's good to avoid lot of things from them.

We are talking of gambling games in mobiles phones that looks like just a normal phone games that even a normal child can learn and see it as normal games, can you understand that?

Ok, another obvious example. What adults gamble for, even though many lie about their primary goal? Money. Do children really need money right now? Parents buy them almost everything. Their needs are rather limited, as they dont think about future, savings and etc. All they need are new mobile, some fancy clothes, several gadgets like video console or tablet, maybe a new bike. I dont believe that a child will open gambling site and try to win money, instead of asking parents for all he wants.

Now move all that info into mobile gaming - do you really think that a child will gamble with real money and even if he does, he would do it for a long period? I think no. Firstly, most likely if he lose lets say 1/3 of his saving on gambling, he would drop it and skip to other activities, because - he would give a default child explanation as "boring" and hide fact of failing. Or he would gamble with play money and leave game after some time, because it is boring, primitive.

As a parent, I observe my child and other children. They dont usually put much effort. A fail on early start mostly forces them to quit. They are not constant, assiduous. As soon as something require making an effort, try, use knowledge, majority drop and move to million other activities.

Silly example, if a child plays a game, lets take dice, and losses 6/10 times or losses frequently, he will drop it. Take any non-gambling game. Uno for example. Beat child 3 times in a row and he will most likely never return to this game ever.

I am curious if you have children? Are you a theorist or have practice experience in raising children?

Some children consider their parents as their greatest teachers. Whatever their parents do seems to be the best for them. If they take a wrong decision, the children consider it right. That is why if any inappropriate topics are discussed in front of them, they can accept it positively. That is why I think it is better not to discuss any topic in front of children that can harm them.

Yes I agree with you mate, because parents are the primary teachers that will teach and provide discipline to their kids as we all know what kids see from their parents, they will bring it elsewhere no matter what though there are other few instances that kids will do the opposite but most of the time they inherit what they witness when they grow up that is why it is importnt to not show them things like gambling we educate them about it and what it might be the negative results when someone will get addicted into it because whetger we like it or not they will surely be influenced outside of their home so better to give them the best advices.

So, children are like that naturally and we need to be mindful with what we say, decisions we takes and the secret or open things we are doing so that they wouldn't hurt themselves by take such decisions over their lives and think is appropriate for them to do such.

Children considers what ever that there parents do to be right and learn from their parents so if any parent is gambling in front of their children they are teaching their children to gamble indirectly because children learn from what they are exposed to and as they grow older they start exhibiting such characters so parents who are into gambling should do everything possible for their children not to know that they are into gambling because it's a wrong presidence that parents that gamble in front of their children are setting because one day these children will grow up and take up those such characters

Don't do it especially when they're 7 years and below. What reason? These are the years where a child will learn the most, and the things that they will see in their first 7 years might be the one that will influence their attitude as they grow up.

If they see people quarreling constantly, he/she might become one in the future. Same with gambling. If they see you gambling multiple times, there's a chance that when they grow up, they might be one as well. Instead of letting them see you gambling (assuming that you're a gambler), let them do better things like other physical activities, walking around the house, etc.

Do you have any proof or confirmation that children get gambling addicted or big problems if they see adults gamble? Because I have opposite or neutral experience. I have played table games with money as a prize in front of children; I think my child has seen me gambling on a mobile. To my and your surprise, there were no wild reaction on that. Children at the house said «aaah, you are playing your adult games», and ran away to kids room to play toys. Sometimes I can even say that they are completely not interested in gambling, but are interested only in youtube bloggers.

I'm not sure about your environment, but where I live, the kids never pay attention to anything on your phone unless you're playing animated movies - which is why it's critical to get your children iPads and video games so they pay less attention to you whenever you're on your phone.

Where parents go wrong is when they take their children to a casino for gambling activities, which is where addiction usually begins.

If a child belongs to phone or any device, then that child is not very interested in other devices of the same type unless he needs. The age of the child plays a role. If a child is a little older, then he can gradually focus on external matters. Children who are people of high circle are less likely to have such a situation. On the other hand, the situation will not be the same for those who are of low earner people.

I can't imagine if we play gambling in front of them, they must follow playing gambling as well. I don't understand that there is an idea of playing gambling in front of children. It is always the best way to show the kids positive vibes and good things in front of them because what they see and hear, they will bring that to the next generation like a domino effect regardless of it being good or bad that is why parents or guardians should always guide their kids so that there will not be an unacceptable consequences for them in the future.

yes, one of my husband's friend's children, he is a slot game enthusiast, when asked where he knew the slot game, from his father's cellphone, at first he was only interested in tapping, it turns out that until now the child's playing intensity is high, wins are often obtained so that he does not focus on studying,
it all goes back to the parents. for self-introspection
okay, the mindset of children today cannot be the same, different children have different mindsets, actually not all children behave like that but at least I as a parent do not want my child to know what betting and gambling are from the family environment itself even though I am a gambler

In my opinion, one action that parents must take is not to gamble around their children because this will cause big problems if our children are addicted to gambling at an early age, they will have less time to study and their intentions to achieve their children's dreams will be dashed, who will lose?

I'm not sure about your environment, but where I live, the kids never pay attention to anything on your phone unless you're playing animated movies - which is why it's critical to get your children iPads and video games so they pay less attention to you whenever you're on your phone.
If a child belongs to phone or any device, then that child is not very interested in other devices of the same type unless he needs. The age of the child plays a role. If a child is a little older, then he can gradually focus on external matters. Children who are people of high circle are less likely to have such a situation. On the other hand, the situation will not be the same for those who are of low earner people.

animation is only for toddlers, not children who already understand reading and counting, and understand what a game is, then children can try and learn it,
every person's environment is different, and difficult to control and not all environments are good, for each individual if outside the family environment
the problem of giving a cellphone to each child applies only to people who are able, and middle class people and below cannot be applied to every child having a cellphone

Where parents go wrong is when they take their children to a casino for gambling activities, which is where addiction usually begins.

Yes and no. Giving children gadgets to distract from gambling also isnt good. What about addiction from video games or social media? And the category of children, that get in rage when parents take their gadgets away.

Anyway, I dont believe much in children gambling addiction. It all forms from parents paying little attention to children. If children are let on their own, too much freedom, that is the worst scenario. Children at the casino is not the worst scenario. If children have something they are interested in, they will not pay any attention to gambling, casino, parents gamble or do other things. I have a friend whos father was snooker fan, he was spending every weekend with his father at the snooker bar (if that is how it is called). I always envy him, as it always looked entertaining to me. Right now that friend cant stand snooker and bars with table, darts and other default activities of such place.

One thing that we should avoid doing is trying to gamble and even discuss anything related about gambling because it's not a good idea as it could have a significant impact on the on the child because children learn fast because when ever you gamble or discuss anything relating to gambling in front of your children you are silently introducing gambling to them subconsciously because what ever you are introduced to early has a great impact on you as you begin growing up as a teneger

I think that discussing gambling with children is a must. When trying to protect them from potential tread of addiction and losing money, we must introduce gambling to them. But parents must do it carefully, not to encourage them to gamble, as well as not to scare them from gambling. Because as a parents, we should not decide their faith and future. If we introduce gambling as something negative, but when they turn 18 or 21, try gambling and become successful, they might lose trust to us; they can think that we lied them all the time. Why I believe that parents must introduce gambling instead of hiding its existence? Because gambling is already all around society. And it is better that I will introduce what is gambling, tell about risk, explain everything. Than some stranger would do it, without for example, mentioning anything about risk.

Any parent gambling in front of their children is not showing a good example to the child because it's the responsibility of the parents to make sure that their children have the best moral upbringing while growing up so parents should be always extra careful with some of their excesses

Gambling in front of your kid is something that is considered morally not acceptable because the probability of your children learning gambling from you will be high so to avoid exposing your children to things that they are not mentally prepared to handle while growing up should be stopped because when ever you gamble in front of kids they start to learn from it

We as parents, have to set an example for our children. One of the things is that they see us reading a book, doing anything that encourages them to do it, playing is another thing, for example for me things with casino games have to be done differently, that is, they have to be talked to about casino games and betting, tell them all the dangers and remind them that it is a game or activity for people, because children will still access this information that has to do with the game.

Of course, all children will consider their parents as their best teachers. That's why we must be careful to do anything in front of them. I can't imagine if we play gambling in front of them, they must follow playing gambling as well. I don't understand that there is an idea of playing gambling in front of children. It is totally very wrong idea. We must always show good things to the children, so they will follow to do good things, too.
Parents are not just teachers to their children but their children sees them as their role model whom they are looking up to copy whatever they see their parents doing. Gambling should be done privately and that's why the online casinos are there for us to keep thing privately without anyone seeing you gambling.

Even if I gamble several times a week on my mobile, I should do it secretly or when children are sleeping? I think you are creating gambling into a monster, an activity that does harm to everyone, something that is really bad. To bad that your suggest wont work. Ok, your child wont see you gambling, but for instance, when you walk on the street or watch TV, they see gambling billboard or advertisement. What are you going to do if your child ask what is that? Say no-no, that is bad, dont look, listen or even think about trying. Think that is going to help? You believe that your child will never find out or hear what is gambling, except at home? Even in movies, cartoon, games, there will be moments when someone plays lottery and wins. That gambling. The way character spends money won is already a stimulation for your child to gamble.

Speaking about gambling and children, I think that parents role is not to hide gambling activity, but be more open and instead give all the information, and later monitor children activity. You say that parents must be a "role model", someone to loop up to, someone children want to be. That is correct, but parents must be also someone who children respect. Someone with a reputation. If parents say that their children should not try gambling until the turn 18, and give examples and explanations why, then children must listen to that.

Parents have a lot of responsibilities for children which have to be fulfilled very carefully as parents especially not to do anything in front of children which will break them mentally. Parents have a lot of role in children's mental development especially they have to share various issues with children in a friendly manner.  Parents must refrain from doing things in front of the children that the children are attracted to. Fights, gambling in front of children should be avoided so that children do not master them.  Children are usually imitators who learn to follow their parents.
