Title: Issue of Inscription will continue to exist and cause controversy
Post by: MrSpasybo on January 08, 2024, 04:56:07 PM
A recent proposal by Bitcoin developer Luke Dashjr to address the congestion caused by Ordinals and BRC-20 tokens on the Bitcoin network has sparked debate within the community. Dashjr's proposal, which would essentially put an end to Ordinals and Inscriptions on the blockchain, has been met with both support and strong opposition.

Dashjr failed to rally enough support for a proposed “bug fix” to the Bitcoin code that would essentially put an end to Ordinals and Inscriptions on the blockchain. Bitcoin developers are split on the matter and without majority consensus, the decentralized nature of the blockchain will not allow any changes to the code.

Core developer Ava Chow eventually ended the meeting, remarking that the PR was “controversial” and the debate had reached a “stalemate.”
“In its current state, [the PR] has no hope of reaching a conclusion that is acceptable to everyone.”

Bitcoin was the first blockchain to adopt Inscription because of its technological limitations, and now I expect the fate of Inscription trend in crypto market (including on many other blockchains such as Solana, Avalanche, Dogecoin, Polygon, Arbitrum, EOS…) is strongly dependent on the fate of Inscription on Bitcoin blockchain.

The proposal has highlighted the decentralized nature of Bitcoin's governance, as without majority consensus, no changes to the code can be made. But it also shows that not what is best for netwwork health will be easily adopted by community. User admiration, investor profits, and Miners' income will all impact important decisions.

From the perspective of a regular user, and not an Inscription fan, I want transaction fees to go down and my transactions to be confirmed as soon as 1 year ago, on every blockchain. Avalanche's stagnation, errors on Ton, high fees on Bitcoin really create uncomfortable experiences.

Do you support the Inscription trend? Are you investing in Inscription tokens? Do you want the Inscription trend to continue to exist or will it disappear to make room for more effective dapps operating on the network?
