Crypto scammers are using X ads to trick others into visiting websites that can steal their cryptocurrency or trick them with fake giveaways.

X shows ads based on what users are interested in, like many other platforms. Even though Elon Musk mentioned that YouTube has a lot of scam ads, it turns out that X has a problem too. More and more often, X is displaying ads that try to scam people into cryptocurrency-related frauds.

These scams might include links to Telegram channels that try to manipulate the value of a cryptocurrency (pump and dump), fake pages that try to steal personal information (phishing), or links to websites that can steal all the money from a connected wallet (crypto drainers).

Yeah I've actually came across such before, around last year was trying to grow X account by posting related crypto concept. So I saw a particular giveaway offering ETH as the price to first 100 persons that will react, comment and retweet in their post. So I was like me just give it a try, so after doing everything as instructed I left a comment so I saw a reply to comment saying that I am among the lucky winners so I was send a link that redirect me to a telegram channel. Then I saw another instructions that we should message the admin telling he or she that  "I am  among the winners" so I did as instructed. Then the admin send me a screenshot of an ETH worth $4k then told me that before the payment can process I need to send them a fee worth of certain amount of dollars in Bnb (this where the scamming begins) so I just laughed like damn you doing a giveaway worth $4k and telling me to send fee so without wasting any more time I just ghosted them. So please be careful because now and days most social media are being use for scamming projects they are people at their craving for your funds or coins. And ready to do any thing to have it

Now there are many scams circulating by providing sites or advertisements that provide free currency and they also make convincing promises, even the advertisements or sites they spread are true. Be careful with advertisements or sites that provide free cryptocurrency and If necessary, avoid it all, because it is very dangerous for yourself so that all your assets will be lost or your personal wallet will be lost too.

Elon scared away his major ad sponsors after he said no to regulate the freedom of speech in Twitter (X)  and i guess its crypto ads that comes to replace those ads. but then in anyway, this is still a good indication so that regular people would learn how to spot which is scam and which is not.

this was the thing that happened back in 2016-2017 where ICO scam just spawn the market and the growth of BTC price went from $1000 to almost $20k

Where is the source of the article, is it the one in the picture?
In response to your post.

Fraud will never disappear it will grow rapidly because there are always many victims so that fraudsters spread more, especially on X.com because that is the source of all crypto news so it is mixed up between legitimate news and fake news, especially with phishing sites that are spread.

Now scammers are smart enough where they buy blue ticks to not be restricted from advertising by X.com with this they can freely spread fraud there, I often find where all of them are blue ticks, so I'm sure they don't have advertising restrictions on this platform.
